The first thing I did was to determine the main goal of our training, which is what I said earlier: to transform the infantry from a fierce attack to an army that can detect enemy fire points, report coordinates, use tank fire and protection, and command tanks and artillery to hit targets!

It is clear that in previous battles, artillery was used to prepare for fire or suppress enemy artillery, and tanks were occasionally used to assist infantry in attacking...... Now letting the infantry direct the artillery to fire and the tanks to go out to fight is actually to reduce the "performance chance" of the infantry on the battlefield and enhance the status of the artillery and tank crews......

The staff officers are also brainy, and they didn't understand it before but a knee-jerk reaction...... After I reminded and compared it, it soon became clear that the utilization rate of this tactical idea for tank crews, artillery and even sappers would be greatly improved, so where is there any reason to oppose it.

Then the second thing I did was to distribute the pre-equipped haode teaching materials to the staff officers...... I mentioned these teaching materials to Commander Zhang last night. There are infantry, artillery. There are also tank crews. That is, the tactical basis of each branch. Each staff officer was given two sets of tactical teaching materials in addition to his own troops.

The staff officers didn't have much of an opinion on this, because they knew it...... If you want to become a staff officer of a composite battalion, that is, to assist the commander in commanding the three arms of the infantry, tank, and artillery, it would be a joke if you didn't know anything about the tactics of the other arms.

Therefore, the first thing the chiefs of staff should do is to study, to learn the knowledge of the other two branches of the armed forces in addition to their own. If necessary, I would also like to develop a tactical basis for sappers...... This is completely necessary, and the study of this knowledge does not mean that staff officers should be able to clear mines or build bridges, but that they should have a basic idea of such things as clearing mines, building bridges, and opening roads. They don't give an order: "You have two hours to clear the mines" or "Build a pontoon bridge within an hour" or something like that.

The same is true for the study of the tactical basics of other arms, which does not require much proficiency, but only requires an idea in the head, so as not to make low-level mistakes because of ignorance.

However, there is not much difficulty for staff officers, first of all, because they themselves are graduates of various military academies and have a foundation in military theory. Secondly, they are engaged in this kind of work, and their long-term command has enabled them to have practical experience in tactics. Again, it was here that the staff officers of the infantry, tank, and artillery were gathered...... Later, I learned that there were actually two staff officers of the engineer regiment, so they could immediately ask the staff officers of the relevant profession when they were learning tactics, and not only could they get answers quickly, but they would also draw a lot of experience from each other......

Of course. As the battalion commander who directly commands this unit, and Zhang Zuoliang, the deputy battalion commander who may command this unit, are no exception. So we both quickly threw themselves into learning tactics as well.

The slowest learner is Zhang Zuoliang...... The reason is that his education level is only junior high school, and most of his combat environment has always been farming and pig raising...... I haven't moved my head in the past few years as a soldier, and I have almost forgotten all the knowledge in junior high school. But I don't think it's a big problem, there are so many staff officers here, and Zhang Zuoliang himself is studious, so it will naturally come after a long time.

These tactics are for me...... A bit difficult is artillery tactics, because it is necessary to measure coordinates or something, and also use trigonometric functions to calculate the distance, and then use this distance to calculate the distance and elevation of the target......

But it's just a bit difficult, and it's all elementary knowledge in high school for me, so of course, I quickly understood what was going on...... The speed at which I learned surprised even the artillery staff.

But I know it myself...... I still have a long way to go before I reach the level of an artillery observer, because I have heard from the artillery staff officer...... Artillery observers, in extreme cases, calculated the coordinates of the target before the second shell fired by the enemy.

It was so shocking that my jaw was about to drop...... It is important to know that the trigonometric value of this goal is not a special angle of 30 degrees, 45 degrees, or 60 degrees...... It is only to calculate the distance of several segments with these non-special angles, and Zuihou calculates the distance of the target...... How many seconds does this have to be done between shells? How could it be done! Even our modern computers take time to input data!

The artillery staff officer replied to me: "This...... I can't tell, I'll know when the artillery comes up and let them practice! ”

All right...... This aroused my curiosity, and I even wanted to arrest Marx's artillery observers on the spot and ask them about it.

But I do believe that this is possible, what the artillery wants is speed, I am afraid that if the speed is a little slower, it is very likely that the entire artillery position will be ended, so count every day, count every day, count desperately...... The speed of mental arithmetic is not something that ordinary people can imagine.

From this point of view...... If you want to get the infantry to this level, I'm afraid it will be very difficult to achieve. But fortunately, the infantry does not need to be in a hurry like artillery, but it is also required to be as fast as possible.

After that, I had time to look through the information of the staff officers, and after sorting it out a little, I found that the staff officers from the artillery were the most...... There were nine of them, and there were only two tank staff officers, and the others were three infantry staff officers in addition to one engineer staff officer.

This ratio looks like it's distributed according to the number of troops...... The composite battalion has an artillery battalion, a tank company, two infantry companies and an engineer company, which is about the same if there are two or three staff officers per company. Of course, the proportion of infantry staff officers among them is relatively small, and I think the reason for this is that I, the battalion commander and deputy battalion commander, are both from infantry.

This seems normal, but in fact, I know that this is specially arranged by Commander Zhang.

When I mentioned the synthetic battalion before, I told Commander Zhang about a tank company, an artillery company, plus an engineer and two infantry companies...... But Commander Zhang didn't think about it, so he said: "An artillery company only has ten guns, which is too little...... Previous artillery battalion! ”

However, my thinking is a little different, because I am not only thinking about the current war situation and crisis, but more importantly, I am thinking about the future development of the troops, and especially I hope to change the combat thinking of commanders in this era of "not being afraid of sacrifice and forging ahead courageously...... There is no doubt that once tactics develop in the direction of focusing on coordination and emphasizing groups, this kind of "courageous progress" of individual arms will naturally lose the market.

Therefore, Commander Zhang considered the situation more from the point of view, while I considered it more from the perspective of the long-term situation, whether the whole army was more spiritual or more scientific and rational tactical thinking.

Even I'm still thinking...... If we can change from the coordination of the various arms of the army, it will gradually change to the coordination of the navy, army, and air force in the future...... Of course, in modern times, all countries are engaged in the coordination of the three armed forces, and our country is no exception, which means that whether I do this or not, my country will do it in the future.

But...... If I can get this kind of coordinated tactics to appear in the PLA earlier, will it also be an improvement?

Thinking of this, I feel that I finally have a place to defeat Commander Zhang, but this seems to be a bit overwhelming...... I'm a modern person, it's normal to think more broadly and see farther, Commander Zhang, as a person of this era, will of course have the limitations of his times, and he can boldly let me form this synthetic battalion can be said to be quite far-sighted.

The preparation of Zuihou is the choice of troops, and I have no choice for artillery, tank and engineer units, because I can say that I know nothing about other units...... Even if I had to choose, I wouldn't know which unit to choose.
