Chapter Ninety-Five: This is the Old Qin Man
Later, the Han Dynasty was founded.
After years of conquest, Liu Bang established the Western Han regime and pacified the rest of the military forces in the Central Plains, including Xiang Yu. At this time, the Central Plains had been in turmoil for many years, and the people were living in hardship, so Liu Bang decided not to deal with the South Vietnamese State by means of military extermination.
In 196 BC, Liu Bang, the ancestor of the Han Dynasty, sent a doctor Lu Jia to Nanyue to persuade Zhao Tuo to return to Han. Under the persuasion of Lu Jia, Zhao Tuo accepted the seal ribbon given by Han Gaozu to the king of Nanyue, submitted to the Han Dynasty, and made Nanyue a vassal state of the Han Dynasty. After that, the Nanyue Kingdom and the Han Dynasty sent envoys to each other, and Liu Bang successfully made Zhao Tuo submit to the south through peaceful means, and did not become a hostile force in the south of the Han Dynasty.
After the death of Liu Bang, the ancestor of the Han Dynasty, Empress Lu came to the dynasty and began to make enemies with Zhao Tuo. She issued a ban on the sale of iron and other goods to South Vietnam in the area bordering South Vietnam. Zhao Tuo felt that Empress Lü might annex him through Changsha (another vassal state of the Han Dynasty, located in the northern part of Nanyue, in present-day Hunan Province), so Zhao Tuo declared his independence from the Han Dynasty, proclaimed himself "Emperor Wu of Nanyue", sent troops to attack Changsha, and withdrew after defeating several border counties of Changsha.
Empress Lü immediately sent the generals Long Xihou and Zhou Zao to attack Zhao Tuo, but because the soldiers of the Central Plains were not adapted to the hot and humid climate in South Vietnam, they fell ill one after another, and did not even cross the Nanling Ridge. A year later, Empress Lü died, and the Han army stopped attacking.
At this time, Zhao Tuo relied on his intelligence and 500,000 old Qin troops to dominate the area of South Vietnam, and through financial and bribery, Minyue, Xiou and Luo Yue all belonged to South Vietnam, and the territory expanded to the peak. Zhao Tuo also began to call the shots as emperor and opposed the Han Dynasty.
Of course, although he has been proclaimed emperor, his heart has not changed his loyalty to Qin Shi Huang. This time he didn't want to be called emperor, but there was no way. For the sake of that plan, in order to live up to the entrustment of the first emperor, he decided.
At the beginning, many of the old Qin people were not convinced, and even almost mutinied. At the critical moment, another decree from the First Emperor arrived, and it was this decree that prevented a mutiny. Since then, the old Qin people have been obeying the leadership of the Zhao clan and guarding the faith in their hearts.
Zhao Tuo has been leading the South Vietnamese State to fight against the Han Dynasty, and the wars of all sizes continue until one thing happens.
In 179 BC, after the death of Empress Lü, Emperor Liu Heng of the Han Dynasty ascended the throne, and he sent people to rebuild the cemetery of Zhao Tuo's ancestors, set up tomb keepers to sacrifice on time every year, and rewarded Zhao Tuo's cousins with official positions and property. Then, under the recommendation of Prime Minister Chen Ping, Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty appointed Lu Jia, who had sent many envoys to South Vietnam during the Han Gaozu period, as the Taizhong doctor, and asked him to send an envoy to South Vietnam again to persuade Zhao Tuo to return to Han.
After Lu Jia arrived in South Vietnam, he asked Zhao Tuoxiao for benefits. At that time, forced by the situation, Zhao Tuo finally agreed to surrender to Han. It was decided to remove the imperial title and return to the Han Dynasty, still called the "King of Nanyue". Until the time of Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty, Zhao Tuo was a vassal to the Han Dynasty, and sent people to Chang'an to meet the emperor of the Han Dynasty in the spring and autumn every year, and accepted the orders of the emperor of the Han Dynasty like princes and kings. But in South Vietnam, Zhao Tuo still continued to use the name of emperor.
Zhao Tuo has never been sincerely attached, because he believes that the First Emperor will have a new will, but he has waited again and again without a response. With the passage of time, he grew old and always had to return to the loess.
Although there was no news until his death, Zhao Tuo remained loyal to Qin Shi Huang and never wavered until his death.
Until the fourth year of the founding of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty (137 BC), Zhao Tuo died at the age of about 100 years and was buried in Panyu. After Zhao Tuo's death, his descendants continued to serve as four generations of Nanyue kings. Until 111 BC, the Nanyue Kingdom was destroyed by the Han Dynasty. During this period, the Zhao family has been adhering to the ancestral teachings and has a heart for the Qin family.
The state of South Vietnam perished, and was torn apart under the policies of the Han dynasty, and lost its original unity. And the people of the Zhao family had no way to reverse the situation, and the most Lu later decided to completely surrender to the Han Dynasty on the surface, and wait for a night to receive the will of the first emperor.
It's a pity that people's hearts are not ancient. During this period, some people could not stand the hardships of South Vietnam, some joined the Han family, and some fled south into the countries of Vishnu, Funan, Tangming, Jinlin and Linyang. Others have great ambitions, simply uniting with some local natives to form tribes. Conquer everywhere and satisfy your desires.
Of course, this is only a small minority, and most people still hold on to their beliefs, and they are loyal to the First Emperor. It was also the formation of a clan, and in order not to attract the attention of the Han Dynasty, the people of the Zhao family deliberately directed and acted in a series of dramas to confuse the emperor of the Han Dynasty.
South Vietnam was divided, and many large tribes were formed. He also fought with many natives, captured women, killed male young and disobedient natives, and left behind the blood of the old Qin people. For a long time, because I didn't expect the Qin Dynasty to collapse. Therefore, most of the 500,000 people in the southern expedition were soldiers, and they could fight, but few people could farm, weave and other work.
Life has not been very good, and under the oppression of the Han Dynasty, it is even difficult to survive. Originally, they wanted the army to go north to plunder, but unfortunately due to the original road closure, it was difficult for the army to move, so they had to give up. Later, life became more and more difficult, but fortunately, the blood of the old Qin people was unyielding, and they began to fight against nature.
The various tribes helped each other, hunted the beasts for food, and exchanged their furs and Han Chinese for supplies. From time to time, they also sent some small groups of tribesmen to the north to learn from foreigners to fight grass valleys, of course, they did not cause much killing, unlike the northern Xiongnu, Xianbei and other tribes, wantonly plundering and killing.
Year after year, generation after generation.
The old generation of Qin people slowly faded away, leaving only the ancestral teachings loyal to the first emperor. The Qin people are loyal and righteous, no matter what generation they are, and they have never forgotten the faith in their hearts.
Maybe they once wished in their hearts and felt uncomfortable. But no one abandoned, abandoning the loyalty in the blood. Under oppression, they are more resilient, and they persist in surviving because of faith.
It has experienced the changes of the tribe, the baptism of disasters, and the loss of life. The persistence of the old Qin people is still the same, and they have gradually grown from a humble vassal to a hegemon with their arduous and indomitable spirit of struggle, and after active or passive learning again and again, successful or unsuccessful attacks, and then become the most powerful and most advanced vassal states.
After so many years, combining vertical and horizontal, distant and close attacks, he can finally become the supreme in the world. It is because of the spirit of the old Qin people that there is no superfluous selfishness, just for the strength of the tribe. In any case, they never gave up, survived in this mountain forest, and still remember that they are old Qin people, proud old Qin people.
They still remember: Old Qin, restore my rivers and mountains, blood will not be shed, and death will not be truce! They remember "Wind, wind, gale!" The war song.
The hardships of life did not defeat the body of the old Qin people, but became stronger and stronger, and in the natural battle, the old Qin people inherited the spirit of their ancestors, tenacious and unyielding, and united.
Until now, the Eastern Han Dynasty. The people of the Zhao clan are still leading the descendants of the old Qin people, waiting.
Speaking of this in one breath, the old man Zhao Zhong exhaled deeply. I don't know if it's because he's tired or something, his body is a little stiffer. Qin Feng kept listening, he didn't expect history to be like this, this is the real history. In the blink of an eye, a scene flashed in Qin Feng's heart, it was the figure of the old Qin people struggling.
"What are you waiting for, old man?" Qin Feng thought about it and still asked.
