Chapter Ninety-One: The Fortified City
November 5, 1903, Vladivostok (Vladivostok).
After a few days of snowfall, the city is surrounded by white tones that smell of Chinese funerals.
This is the most important military port of the Russian Empire in the Far East, the main base of the Pacific Fleet, known as the "first fortress in the Far East", and now it is surrounded by more than 200,000 East Asian coalition troops, and the time has come to test it.
After the fall of the Ussuriysk fortress on October 5, the remnants of the 1st Army of the Russian Far East and the defenders of the Ussuriysk fortress gradually retreated to the Vladivostok fortress defense area under the command of General Stessel, relying on the permanent fortifications and bunkers built in advance, and began a long and painful defense battle of the fortress.
The so-called "Vladivostok Fortress Defense" is a system of fortified positions consisting of various batteries, fortresses, permanent and semi-permanent fortifications, field bunkers and field obstacles. The total length of the defense line is 67 kilometers, of which the coastal defense line is 38 kilometers long.
By October 11, 1903, there were 38 permanent shore gun batteries in the fortified area (including Russky Island, two kilometers south of the Vladivostok Peninsula), which were equipped with a variety of large-caliber coastal guns ranging from 152 mm to 305 mm, and their main task was to cover the ships in the military port and defend the fortress and city from shelling by enemy fleets. Coastal batteries are combined with mine obstacles arranged in the coastal waters to form a mine artillery coastal defense system, which can effectively hinder the actions of the opposing fleet.
The land defense line of the defense zone is 29 kilometers long and about 20 kilometers deep. Before the siege began, the fortress consisted of 10 permanent forts (A-J), 4 permanent fortifications (2-5) and 7 separate batteries (1-7).
Field bunkers were built between all the permanent fortifications for flank cover, trenches five or six meters deep were dug in front of the permanent fortifications, and a tight system of barbed wire, traps, mines and other obstacles was arranged in front and behind the trenches, and electrified barbed wire was also pulled up in some key areas, and searchlights were installed in all forts, fortifications and batteries.
The forward position was to cover the first main line of defense with the Vrichan Mountains, Artem Mountains, St. Peter's Heights and the Moscow Heights in the vicinity of the village of Ugloye through Artem Town to the village of Shkotovo Village. Trenches were dug on it, and multi-sided forts and spectacle forts were constructed.
The center of the first main line of defense was in the area of the town of Trudovoye, about 15 kilometers north of the city of Vladivostok, where the total length of the line was shortened to 20 kilometers, and a total of 7 permanent fortresses, 3 permanent fortifications and 5 independent batteries were arranged on the defensive line under the cover of the Ula Mountains, the Kimir Mountains and the "St. John's" heights.
The defense center of the second main line of defense was in the area of the army barracks in Vladivostok, about 7 kilometers from the first main line of defense, and only 8 kilometers from the center of the city, where the total length of the defense line was further shortened to 15 kilometers, and a total of 3 permanent fortresses, 1 permanent fortification and 2 independent batteries were arranged under the cover of Vladivostok Mountain and the "Peter the Great" heights.
Behind the two main lines of defense was a parapet wall around the city, on which were arranged a number of fortress artillery batteries and some single guns that could rotate 360 degrees.
On October 15, 1903, the commander of the First Army in the Far East, Lieutenant General Stessel, began to concurrently serve as the commander of the Vladivostok fortress defense area, appointed its chief of staff, Major General Kontrachenko, as commander of the land defense line, and divided the forward positions of the land defense line and the first main line of defense into three sections, each with a commander assigned to each of them.
Of the three sections of the line, the western section of the line was the strongest, with a total length of 12 kilometers of forward defense, and the commander of the 2nd Army in the Far East, Lieutenant General Frank. This section of the line consisted of forward positions on the Mt. Vrichan and Mount Artem, 3 permanent fortresses (A, B, C), fortifications No. 2, 3 independent batteries (No. 1, 2, 3), several temporary fortifications and small batteries. The fortifications of the western section are built on steep slopes, from which the terrain ahead can be clearly observed. In order to eliminate the dead spots between the batteries and in front of them, and to prevent enemy infiltration, a large number of field fortifications and trenches were constructed.
This was followed by the Middle Sector Line, the forward line of which was 10 kilometers long and commanded by Lieutenant General Zalubayev, commander of the Third Army in the Far East. This section of the line included the forward positions on the heights of "St. Peter", 3 permanent fortresses (D, E, F), fortifications No. 3, 2 separate batteries (Nos. 4 and 5), a number of temporary fortifications and artillery bunkers.
The eastern sector of the defensive line was the weakest, with a total length of 7 km, and the commander was Major General Boleman, commander of the 6th Division in the Far East. The defense line is under the jurisdiction of the forward positions on the "Moscow" heights, and there are only two permanent fortifications on the main defense line: Fortress G and Fortification No. 4, and the original plan was to build another Fortress K, but it was not started until October 15, and the eastern section of the defense line was basically based on temporary field fortifications as a barrier. However, the two fortifications of the eastern sector of the defense line were located in excellent terrain, especially the G fortress was located on the steep "St. John's" heights, more than three kilometers of open land in front, and overlooked the "Moscow" heights at the front. The fort itself was made of reinforced concrete, equipped with guns of various calibers from 47 mm to 152 mm, reinforced with machine guns and infantry and engineering detachments, and was the backbone of the entire eastern sector of the defensive line.
By 15 October, the fortified area had a total of 1,065 artillery pieces and 151 machine guns. There are 901 artillery pieces of various calibers (including 402 fortress guns, 305 field guns, and 194 naval guns) and 121 machine guns deployed on permanent fortifications and field positions. There are 144 artillery pieces and 12 machine guns deployed along the coast. The reserve had 20 artillery pieces and 18 machine guns. Of the total artillery, nearly three-quarters were light guns, and only 245 heavy guns with a caliber of more than 100 mm were in total.
In order to facilitate the development of firepower, all the artillery on the first main line of defense is divided into 3 independent artillery groups and 15 firing sectors, each of which is composed of 4 to 5 artillery positions to form a crossfire network. The firing sectors and artillery groups were under the command of the commanders of the various sections of the defensive line, and the commanders of the various sections of the defensive line were directly under the command of the commander of the land defensive line, Major General Kontrachenko, and the commander of the artillery of the fortress, Major General Bere. In order to organize close infantry and artillery coordination, the commanders of each artillery company on the land defense line were directly under the command of the commanders of the various fortresses and support points.
According to the information of the Russian side after the war, by October 15, the fortress defense area had a total of more than 600,000 rounds of various artillery shells (excluding the ammunition stored on the navy's warships), with an average of more than 600 rounds per gun.
The reserve status of other provisions is as follows: flour for 9 months, cereals for 7 months, salt for 8 months, sugar for 6 months, bacon and rusks for 1 month, and dried vegetables for 6 months. In fact, from November onwards, there were no more pigs to slaughter in the fortress, so they had to slaughter military horses for bacon.
In addition to the original 36,000 garrison troops, the defense force of the fortress area also included the 4 infantry divisions of the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Far Eastern armies of the 1st Far Eastern Army and the 4th Siberian Cavalry Division, as well as the remnants of the garrison of the Ussuriysk (Shuangchengzi) fortress. The divisions of the First Army in the Far East had already suffered heavy losses in the previous border battles and the Battle of Shuangchengzi, the original strength of 109,000 troops had dropped to about 50,000, and the garrison of the Ussuriysk fortress had 13,000 men, but at this time there were less than 4,000 men. By 15 October, the total strength of the fortified area was 91,280 men (including about 15,000 old and new wounded).
The Pacific Squadron under the command of Vice Admiral Makarov, stationed in Vladivostok (Vladivostok), had 7 armored battleships remaining (3 of which were still lying in the dock for repair as of 15 October), 6 cruisers (1 under repair), 3 gunboats, 1 destroyer (i.e., minelayer), 23 destroyers and destroyers of the fleet, and nearly 13,000 crews.
After Vice Admiral Stessel announced on 15 October that the fortress was under siege, the detachment began to hand over some of the light guns on board the ships to the army, with corresponding gunners, but the main force of the detachment was still there, and the report submitted by the commander of the fleet, Vice Admiral Makarov, to the Governor-General of the Far East, Admiral Alekseyev, still declared that "as soon as the main ships of the detachment are repaired, the entire fleet can be launched to break out, which can be sailed to a port in Hawaii or Indochina".
On this day, the snow stopped, the sky cleared, said it was clear, and from time to time a few clouds shrouded in, completely swallowing up the bleak daylight.
A buzzing bird swept over the city, saying it was a bird, but it had no flesh and bones, but only a monster made of wood chips, aluminum tubes, silk threads, canvas, and internal combustion machinery, which humans called "airplanes" and birds called "pig skeletons" or "flying cloths".
On this "pig skeleton" sit two humans wearing leather flight caps, their eyes hidden behind glass windscreens, and their bodies wrapped in leather coats with black animal fur collars and knitted wool scarves, as bloated as the heads of pigs that have suddenly mutated.
Two people one after the other, stuffed into the thin pieces of wood of the "pig skeleton", a fast-spinning engine in front of them kept spraying exhaust gases and engine oil into the air, and then rushed towards them with a strong wind of more than 100 kilometers per hour, leaving a clear dirty film on the short glass windshield.
"Go down a little further, I can't see it clearly, cough, I'm cold to death......"
The pig head in the back seat shouted at a brass tube in front of him, in this ugly pig skeleton, the noise of the engine and the interference of the wind made it necessary for humans to use microphones to communicate properly.
"Sir, it's three hundred meters now, and if you go down any further, it's dangerous, I'm afraid you'll be hit by bullets......"
The pig head four in the front seat said, but was immediately interrupted by the pig head three: "Then you just hurry up, don't let the bullet hit!" Listen to me, go down to 200 meters. β
The pig's head stuck out his tongue and gently pushed the joystick, and the pig's skeleton moved closer to the ground.
The earth was a dazzling white, but the outlines of mountains and trees, houses and grain piles, people and livestock could still be distinguished.
In front of it was water, a circle of water surrounded by mountains, trees, houses, and human livestock.
In the middle of the water, a group of icebergs floated - no, not icebergs, but mountains of steel, steel.
"5 large warships, 4 medium warships, 27 small warships, 5 auxiliary ships, and another 4 large and medium-sized warships in the dock......"
The observer in the back seat muttered, writing and drawing with a pencil on the board in front of him.
The deck of the warship was covered with snow and ice, which looked like floating icebergs from the air, and now, many small black ants emerged from these icebergs, and they held some small bamboo sticks into the sky, emitting countless short flashes of light.
"Pull it up! Someone shot down there! β
The backseat observer, slandered by the author as the "pig-headed three", shouted into the microphone.
"Understood, sir."
The microphone responded, and the plane began to raise its head, climb higher, and gradually disappear from the sight of the little ants who were in a commotion on the iceberg.
Forty minutes later, the FJZ-4 "Fire Wind" reconnaissance plane, which was equipped with a special sled on the landing gear, landed in an open snow field 75 kilometers north of the city of Vladivostok.
As soon as the backseat observer jumped out of the plane, more than a dozen humans wrapped in military coats or fur coats and wearing winter warm hats immediately swarmed around.
One of the men with a wide face, a thick chin, and big bags under his eyes shouted first: "Commander, it's too dangerous, why don't you go to the sky without saying hello to us, the weather is not very good these days, in case there are three long and two short, we can't afford it......"
"Commander Wang, I've already greeted your chief of staff, look, isn't it him who flew the plane?"
The backseat observer, known as the commander, smiled, pointed to the driver in the front seat, and pushed his windproof glasses above his head.
A slightly feminine and at the same time energetic face was displayed in front of everyone, the owner of this face Chinese New Year's Eve was now eight years old, his name was Liu Bailiang, Viscount, an army general, who had just been appointed commander of the Eastern Front of the Empire five days earlier.
After receiving his appointment, Liu Bailiang, who was formerly commander of the First Group Army on the Chita front, rushed to Manchuria from the front line with General Wang Zhi, chief of staff, and took a train across the northeastern land, which had become a snowy country, and then took a sleigh day and night to arrive at Razdolinoye in the middle of the night last night.
Early that morning, Liu Bailiang went to the house of Colonel Ma Hengming, chief of staff of the Eastern Air Floating Cluster, and asked him to find an airplane that had been modified into a sleigh and take him to Vladivostok for a circle.
At that time, Ma Hengming asked, "Is this a suggestion or an order?" β
Liu Bailianghu raised his face: "Order!" β
Therefore, Ma Hengming, a super-excellent pilot known as the "Sky Dancer" in the army, did not say any more, and immediately ordered his subordinates to find a "Huofeng" two-seater, inspect it, pour fuel into it, heat the engine, and then fly straight to Vladivostok. Some of the ground staff who helped with the work felt that something was wrong, so they reported to the cluster commander Brigadier General Wang Shengping, Wang Shengping was busy with his work, and happened to meet Wang Zhi who was looking for Liu Bailiang everywhere, and the two muttered, both thought that Liu Bailiang might have gone to the sky with Ma Hengming, and they were shocked into a cold sweat, but the plane had already gone to the sky, and there was nothing to do, so they had to wait at the airport, until they saw the plane land safely, and they were relieved.
At this time, Wang Zhi also came over, he had a thin melon seed face, with a pair of eagle wolf-like sharp eyes, in fact, he was originally a full-time sniper, in the palace coup in 1890 personally killed the so-called "White Lotus Sect traitors" no less than 100, after the coup d'Γ©tat, Wang Zhi served as a senior faculty member of the Imperial Army University for a long time until the president, shortly after the outbreak of the Sino-Russian War, he was pulled out of the military academy and thrown to the First Army as chief of staff, and five days ago was appointed chief of staff of the Eastern Front.
"Commander Liu, you can really do it, it's a cold day, and you have to go for a ride in the sky."
Wang Zhi shook his head and sighed, and slapped Liu Bailiang on the shoulder.
"If you have time, you can also go around, and sit on this kind of thing to the sky, it smells."
Liu Bailiang pointed to the huge "pig skeleton" behind him and said with a smile, and beckoned to Wang Shengping: "Commander Wang, don't worry, your chief of staff is very skilled, and the plane is well maintained, if you want me to fall, it's not that easy." β
Wang Shengping said with a smile: "Commander, don't scare us, I am indeed assured of Chief of Staff Ma's skills, and there is nothing to worry about the condition of the plane, I am afraid that the Russians' guns ......"
"Commander Wang is too worried, with the skills of the chief of staff of Yima, those tattered guns of the Russians will not want to hit his plane in another 10,000 years...... Okay, don't mention this matter, come to my house and roast the fire together, this weather, freeze to death......"
After Liu Bailiang finished speaking, he turned around and greeted Ma Hengming, who had already jumped out of the plane: "Chief of Staff Ma, it's frozen, let's have two drinks together, I'll treat you." β
Ma Hengming responded unceremoniously: "Nonsense! β
A quarter of an hour later, everyone had gathered in Liu Bailiang's cabin.
The fire in the fireplace was blazing, the room was warm, and the air was filled with the smell of tobacco and alcohol.
Everyone gathered around a long table, holding a hot wine glass with a two-pot head, smoking a cigarette from Daqianmen or Hademen, all listening to Liu Bailiang.
ββ¦β¦ In this way, it means that the enemy's fleet has not suffered too serious losses, and as soon as the damaged ships are repaired, it is very likely that a breakthrough operation will be launched immediately. β
As he spoke, Liu Bailiang put the map of the location of the enemy ships he drew in the air on the table, and everyone stretched out their heads to look, Wang Zhi nodded while looking at it: "The other party has four large ships in the dock, and we now also have two large ships in the dock. β
"That's a matter for the navy, we just need to take the fortress and complete the mission."
Someone said, Liu Bailiang looked up, and that person was Lieutenant General Chen Xingyun, commander of the Third Field Army.
"Commander Chen, from the perspective of the commander of the field army, your statement is not unreasonable, but this war is not a war of one army, and the victory of one army does not mean the victory of the entire war...... Also, on the question of your command mistakes in the Shuangchengzi operation on September 21, General Yang Zhengjin, chief of the General Staff, asked you to reflect on yourself, and to what extent you have done this, and you will report to me later. β
Liu Bailiang was overwhelmed by just two sentences, blushing, shrinking his head, and not speaking again.
"Then what are Chief Liu's plans?"
Lieutenant General Kiyota Shoe, chief of staff of the Japanese First Army, asked in fluent Chinese. As early as the First Sino-Japanese War, Kiyota served as a liaison officer between the pro-Chinese rebel army and the Japanese dispatch army of the Chinese army, and accompanied Ding Jieyun, the commander of the Japanese dispatch army at that time.
Liu Bailiang politely lowered his chin to Qingtian: "I think that it is necessary to weaken the strength of the enemy fleet and delay the movement of the enemy fleet with frequent air strikes, and at the same time, we should launch a strike on the forward positions in the enemy's fortified defense area as soon as possible, and be sure to clean up the enemy's forward positions before the weather becomes worse, so as to prepare for a general attack on the enemy's main defense line." β
Brigadier General Wang Shengping, commander of the Eastern Air Group, immediately raised his objections: "However, the strength of my Eastern Cluster is limited, and one of them will be used to deal with the Boli Fortress, even if all of them are concentrated to attack the enemy ships in the port, I am afraid it will not have much effect." β
Liu Bailiang pouted to him: "Your cluster has 56 planes and 12 airships, it should be of some use." β
"According to the establishment, in fact, as of yesterday, only 39 planes and seven airships could be operated, and except for two or three airships that could carry medium bombs, those small planes were all used for reconnaissance and calibration, and there was not a single professional bomber, and even if they were barely equipped with small bombs, they could only be used for ground support."
"Small bombs don't matter, you can concentrate on bombing the enemy's shipyards, docks, warehouses and barracks, and if you are equipped with machine guns, you can strafe the deck of the enemy ship by the way, your main task is not to destroy the enemy fleet, but to make it difficult to move the enemy fleet as much as possible, as for the decisive strike mission, let the large combat airship fleet directly under the base camp and the main warships of the navy carry out it."
Wang Shengping nodded vigorously and said: "I understand, we will make a plan as soon as possible, but there is one thing......"
Liu Bailiang asked with concern: "Are there any other difficulties?" Running out of fuel? Or the diet of the troops? β
Wang Shengping hesitated for a moment, raised his head and said, "If the commander wants to inspect the front line by plane in the future, please tell me first, and I will make the most appropriate arrangements for you......
Liu Bailiang patted his forehead and smiled: "It turned out to be this, I caused you trouble today, I'm really sorry, I hope you don't take it to heart, I will pay attention to it in the future, I must pay attention to ......"
Wang Shengping bowed his head with emotion and said, "Yes, then I will rest assured......"
Liu Bailiang swallowed the warm second pot head, turned his head and ordered the adjutant next to him, Lieutenant Colonel Yintian, to bring the map of the war zone.
The unfolded map covered most of the long table, and everyone put their glasses aside, put their heads together, and studied them carefully.
Wang Zhi, chief of staff of the group army, analyzed: "Our army's troops attacking the Vladivostok defense area consisted of eight infantry divisions, three independent artillery brigades, two cavalry brigades, and a number of engineering and logistics detachments, with a total of 292,000 men according to the establishment, and the actual strength as of yesterday was 276,000. Among them, the Second Field Army of the Chinese Army is in the center of the battle line, including the 11th and 13th Infantry Divisions and the 34th Reserve Division; The Japanese First Army was on the east side of the battle line, including the 1st Infantry Division and the 10th Reserve Division; The Japanese Second Army was on the west side of the front, including the Guards Division and the 11th and 12th Reserve Divisions. Each corps is attached to an independent artillery brigade, and in addition, two cavalry brigades and a total of five infantry brigades drawn from each army form a general reserve, which is under the direct control of the Front Command. β
"In terms of artillery, each independent artillery brigade has a total of 27 305-mm siege guns, 108 150-mm heavy howitzers, 162 105-mm cannons, 27 150-mm mortars, and 17 254-mm and 152-mm fortress guns captured from the Russian army. In addition, the divisional artillery of the Chinese and Japanese armies was equipped with a total of 144 105-mm cannons and 108 90-mm light howitzers, in addition to more than 1,000 guns below 90 mm. β
"In terms of logistics, in addition to the three land supply routes that have now been opened, the 1st Division of the Japanese Reserve 12th Division, with the support of the Navy and Marine Corps, has occupied the port of Nakhodka, 70 kilometers southeast of Vladivostok, and is now repairing the wharf with a fleet of barges and icebreakers, which will soon be available for the Chinese and Japanese transport fleets to dock and unload. The No. 1 Supply Depot of the Front Army in Shuangchengzi has now stored more than 300,000 rounds of artillery shells of various calibers, as well as 90 days of grain, grass and charcoal for the entire Vladivostok Raiders. The Vladivostok Raiders at Razdolinoye advanced supply warehouses with more than 200,000 rounds of artillery shells and 30 days of grain, grass and charcoal. The field supply warehouses of the front-line armies stored 250,000 artillery shells and half a month's worth of grain, grass and charcoal. The total number of shells distributed to units below the division level was 300,000 rounds. β
At the end, Wang Zhi added: "Commander Liu and I have just arrived, and we don't know much about the situation in the theater, and the above situation is just a brief summary I made from the official reports of various armies last night. β
Lieutenant General Michikan Nozu, commander of the Japanese First Army, who was standing at the other end of the long table, immediately shouted in Chinese, which was not very fluent: "Needless to say, please tell us when our army should fight!" Let's see how we will trample the first fortress of the Far East that those ghosts and beasts are clamoring for to the ground! β
Lieutenant General Okuhogong, commander of the Japanese Second Army, also echoed: "Please give an order to Commander Liu, the Russians occupy our Ezo (Hokkaido), and we swear to be incompatible with it, so we sent hundreds of thousands of Japanese men to cross the sea here and fight side by side with your army. β
Liu Bailiang opened his hands, pressed down on Lu, and smiled at the two aggressive Oriental generals: "Seeing the two commanders of your army so eager to fight, this commander is very pleased, please rest assured, the strategic operation against the Vladivostok fortress will be officially launched in a few days, and I hope that all of you present here will do their best to encourage all officers and soldiers to carry forward the spirit of East Asian bushido and expel the Russians from our sacred East Asian land!" β
The crowd shouted: "Greater East Asia Alliance - Long live!" The Great Chinese Empire β Long live! Great Japanese Empire β Long live! β
The commander of the Japanese First Army, Kuroki Weizhen, immediately raised a glass and proposed: "Cheers to the victory of the Greater East Asia Alliance and the health of His Majesty the Emperor of the Great Chinese Empire!" β
Liu Bailiang also politely raised his glass in response: "Cheers to the victory of the Greater East Asia Alliance and the health of His Majesty the Emperor of the Great Japanese Empire!" β
Everyone drank it all, and smashed the innocent white porcelain wine glasses one after another.
Wang Zhi finished dropping the cup, attached it to Liu Bailiang's ear and whispered: "Our emperor really needs someone to care about his health, I heard that it is a question whether he can live until next year." β
Liu Bailiang said softly: "What does it matter to us, as long as there is Duke Wuwei, it doesn't matter if an emperor dies every day." β
Two days later, Liu Bailiang summoned his generals and personally issued an order to attack, while Wang Zhi held a thin wooden stick and drew on the colorful battle map.
"The Vladivostok Raiders were ordered to launch a general offensive against the forward positions in the Vladivostok Fortress Defense Zone from 7 a.m. on November 10."
ββ¦β¦ The main direction of attack is in the center, the line from Artem Mountain to the 198 Heights (known as St. Peter's Heights in Russia), which is in charge of Chen Xingyun's Second Field Army, equipped with half of the heavy artillery of the whole army, and the combat goal is to occupy the enemy's fortification system from Artem Mountain to the 198 Heights, seize Artem Town, and expel the enemy troops to the first main line of defense. The secondary offensive direction was in the western sector, under the responsibility of Okubogong's Japanese Second Army, with 3/a half of the army's heavy artillery, and the combat objective was to occupy the village of Furichang Mountain and Uglovoye. The auxiliary offensive direction was in the eastern sector, under the responsibility of the Japanese First Army under Nozu Michikan, with the remaining heavy artillery, and the combat objective was to seize the village of Skotovo and capture the enemy's fortifications on the first line of the 177th Heights (known as the Moscow Heights in Russian) as appropriate. β
ββ¦β¦ The attacking forces of the armies should be divided into three echelons to launch a continuous assault, and at least one brigade should be retained as a corps reserve, three of the five infantry brigades of the front reserve should be grouped 10 kilometers behind the headquarters of each army, the other two brigades should be grouped in Razdolinoye, and two cavalry brigades should be dispersed to the unoccupied areas in the east to cooperate with the marines in the operation to clear the remnants of the enemy. From 8 November, the forward command of the Front was opened in Little Montenegro, 5 km north of Artem, and the rear command remained in Razdolinoye. The headquarters of the Japanese First Army should be co-located with the front of the front. β
ββ¦β¦ In addition, as long as the weather permits, it is imperative to ensure the presence of our aircraft in the airspace over the theater at all times, so as to have the most comprehensive grasp of the enemy's situation. β
ββ¦β¦ On 8 November, a non-stop and all-out artillery bombardment was launched on the enemy's forward positions, and after the general attack began on 10 November, a five-hour key artillery bombardment was planned, and then infantry was deployed to launch an attack as appropriate. β
"The above, General Liu Bailiang, commander of the Eastern Front of the Allied Forces, was released on November 7."
After issuing the battle order, Liu Bailiang looked around at the generals and said: "Ladies and gentlemen, this attack is just a front-line sweeping operation, and the enemy's two strong main lines of defense are still behind it. β
Lieutenant General Nozu Michikan, the commander of the Japanese First Army, shook his head disdainfully: "This, we naturally understand, however, the Japanese samurai have the tactics of the Japanese samurai, and the spirit of bushido is better than any cannonball, so please take a look at the strength of my Yamato nation." β
Lieutenant General Kiyota Congjiang, chief of staff of the Japanese First Army, who was quite elegant, glanced at Nozu even more disdainfully: "General Nozu hasn't woken up, can the spirit of bushido block the shells?" Human flesh is human flesh, steel is steel, and to use human flesh to hit steel, of course, you have to break bones. β
Nozu took the case: "What did you say? How dare you say to the holy samurai......"
"Shut up, don't look at what kind of occasion this is!"
The commander of the group army, Kuroki Weizhen, hurriedly jumped out to persuade him, he could not watch his subordinates make a fool of themselves in front of the allied generals.
"Yes, we were wrong."
"Be sure to pay attention next time."
Both Nozu and Kiyota immediately bowed their heads and admitted their mistakes like elementary school students, this is the Japanese, and there is no ambiguity at all on the surface.
As soon as the military meeting ended, as soon as Liu Bailiang and Wang Zhi stepped out of the threshold, they were caught by a large group of reporters from various countries waiting in the snow, and there was a flash of flashing lights in front of them, which made Liu Bailiang dizzy.
"Commander Liu, please look over here......"
"This way...... This ......"
"Commander Liu, may I ask ......?"
"I'm a reporter from the Current Affairs Express, may I ask Commander Liu ......?"
"Bricks are slippery, kiss you lightly (Translation: General Liu, may I ask you) ......"
Liu Bailiang took a deep breath, a vain instinct induced the muscles on his face to show a relaxed and elegant smile, and he raised his military hat and shook it to the reporters in the posture of a great man: "Hello everyone, gentlemen, welcome to the Eastern Front Headquarters, is it cold here?" I also felt that I didn't want to stay here, but this is war. Well, don't squeeze everyone, come one by one, start with this beautiful young lady on my right, what is your problem? β
A blonde beauty holding a pen and paper in her hand made a cute look and asked with a smile: "Mourning the ball, kissing the bricks lightly, Vladivostok is called a dangerous eunuch, you can take over your paving can you burn the world and win a lot of money?" β
Liu Bailiang was very interested in this Western version of Chinese, he laughed a few times at the blonde eyebrows, and by the way scanned her measurements and face, unfortunately found that the freckles on her face were too prosperous and strong, and then used his lungs to make a few small sounds, and finally threw out a sentence: "That's the case, this question is a military secret, with all due respect, I'm sorry, next." β
A small Japanese reporter with rat eyes and a pointed chin asked in fluent Chinese: "Hello Commander, I am a Japanese Yomiuri Shimbun reporter, and Japan, from the emperor to the people, is very concerned about the situation of the Japanese army in China. β
Liu Bailiang nodded solemnly at him: "I have more than 100,000 Japanese army units under my command, and they have an important and irreplaceable practical role in these serious and practical problems that I am now facing. There is no doubt that I am in everything, and of course please rest assured that these elite and strong excellent fighters from friendly allies are undoubted. Still have questions? β
The Japanese reporter was stunned for a moment, shrugged his shoulders, shook his head with his eyes open, and another Chinese reporter wearing a peaked cap immediately pushed him away.
"May I ask Commander Liu, when are you going to officially start the attack on the fortress?"
Liu Bailiang curled his lips and smiled: "Recently." β
"It is said that the base camp requires the Eastern Front to take the fortress by March next year, are you confident that the task will be completed on time?"
"Do your best."
"What do you think of the morale of your troops?"
"The morale is high, but it's too cold here, and I hope that more high-quality charcoal or coal can be transported from China to provide heating for officers and soldiers."
"Excuse me......"
Liu Bailiang raised his palm to him: "I'm sorry, sir, you have already asked three questions, give others some time." β
After a war of words, Liu Bailiang sat in the dormitory drinking tea to heal his throat, and Wang Zhi was indignant on the side: "Damn, those reporters who have no brains, I don't exist, only the blonde girl asked a word, damn, it's really weak." β
"What did she ask you?"
"Whereare toilet, please?"
(The author who is squatting on the side jumps out to translate: Where is the kiss absorption room?) οΌ
