I've seen this steering wheel and pole in modern times, and I often see people aiming at this thing when building a house......

Now I know that this thing is measuring angles...... For example, if you want to measure the distance between points A and B, of course, you can't directly read the distance between points AB with the steering wheel.

The method is to construct a triangle, for example, insert a red and white rod on the right or left side of point A at a distance of tens of meters, assuming that this rod is point C, so as to form a triangle composed of three points A, B, and C, and the length of AC is known.

Then use the steering wheel to aim at C from point A and B, so you get two angles...... Well, knowing the two angles of the triangle and one side, you can find the length of any side of the triangle, what sine, cosine, tangent, cotangent theorem, turn a few times on the calculation disk, and then add, subtract, multiply and divide a flip, and you can get the distance of two points AB.

The calculator is a mechanical calculator used to calculate the value of the sine and cosine...... There is an aluminum disc about 20 centimeters in diameter, engraved with dense scales, and if you adjust this scale to the desired degree, the two plastic hands will point to the corresponding sine cosine......

As for tangent cotangents...... Anyone who has read the book knows that the sine and cosine are reversed and reversed.

If you don't know, use a known azimuth, such as a certain high ground with a known coordinates, and calculate the distance in the same way.

Of course, if you want to carry out shelling, you also have to calculate the elevation of the target...... The shell is a parabola, so it's useless to know the coordinates, because the impact point of things at different heights of the same coordinate is different. The same method is used for this elevation, in short, this triangle is turned upside down, and after a few times, the enemy's coordinates and elevation can be calculated.

In principle, it is very simple...... In the end, it comes and goes: know the two angles and one side of a triangle, and find the length of the other side...... I believe that anyone who has learned relevant knowledge will do this question.

But...... It's not that easy to do.

The difficulty lies in measuring the angle of the target...... It's not that hard to measure, just aim the steering wheel at the target and read the reading.

Here's the difficulty...... There must be two people who read the angle of the same target at the same time at two points in AB...... And it is very likely that these two points are still far away.

Therefore, AB must first be able to contact two points, either by walkie-talkie or by pulling a telephone line.

Then A is subjective...... The full name is the main observation point, and it sends a message to the side view (side observation point): "Aim at the enemy bunker about 10 meters to the left of the pine tree......

This sentence sounds like an easy sentence, but in fact, you may be stunned when you look at it from the side: pine tree, which one of those pine trees are there? Left...... It looks left in your direction, but it looks right in my direction......

So after looking for a long time, I couldn't find the dark castle that the subjective point of, and it was even possible to find the wrong target and get a completely wrong coordinate.

Only then did I realize that artillery observers were really not simple, according to Wu Dengxiong's words...... This requires long-term cooperation between artillery observers, and there is a clear understanding between the subjective and the sideways, which is more tacit than between husband and wife...... A few words can make the sideways understand which target to capture and react quickly.

And that's not all, the most important thing is that all these actions have to be completed in more than ten seconds...... Subjectively describe a target through the telephone to the side, the main and sideways steering wheels aim at the target at the same time, the sideways report the readings to the subjective, and the subjective calculates the required data according to their own readings plus the readings on the sideways report with the assistance of the assistant pulling the calculation wheel, and immediately calculates the distance of the target with the distance of the two points known AB......

How is this done?!!

Can it also be calculated in seconds? Modern computers also take time to input data, and it is not possible to do it in a few seconds.
