Chapter 62: A Trip to Beiping

Time passed quietly in the flames of war.

In the spring of 1935, another precious spring -- the golden season for the revival of all things in the land of China has arrived.

It was a sunny morning. A group of beautiful big roosters, standing on several large rocks on the edge of the city, raised their heads high and crowing with open throats. In the east, a golden curtain is slowly opening, and the land of China is ushering in a new day.

The tired moon hanging in mid-air, after triumphantly completing the mission of the last light of the day to guide the way, only left the colorful afterglow to rest. At this moment, a radiant golden sun dispelled the night cold of the earth, and with the trust of the descendants of Yan and Huang, it rose slowly from the east tenaciously......

The morning sun is reflected in front of Tiananmen Square. A group of heroes hurried by.

Most of these heroes wore brand-new Mao suits, white shirts inside, some carried large schoolbags, some carried a few books on their left arms, and there were "twenty rings" hidden in their arms. They walked energetically, with strong steps, talking and laughing vigorously.

Their sturdy figures are paved in the streets and alleys full of sunlight.

Which part is this? It is the hoe team that assists the Beiping Left-wing Writers' Union in propaganda and anti-Japanese resistance.

Recently, the Kuomintang army led by Chiang Kai-shek has won many defeats in the northeast and other places, and is rapidly retreating to the Guannai.

For this reason, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China headed by the CPC Central Committee proceeded from the overall situation of the whole country and mobilized educated patriots to participate in various anti-Japanese activities. Song Jiliu's hoe team was also transferred to the particularly important camp of the Beiping Left-wing Writers' Union.

Speaking of this organization, the author must explain here:

The Beiping Left-wing Writers' Union, also known as the Northern Left-wing Writers' Union, referred to as the "Beiping Left Union" or "Left Union", is led by the Executive Committee. The executive committee is divided into organization, propaganda, theory, publishing, secretarial and other work, and has a three-member party group inside, which is under the leadership of the Northern Bureau of the CPC Central Committee (later changed to the Hebei Provincial Party Committee) and the Beiping Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China.

The Northern Left League is committed to propagating Marxism-Leninism, the line, principles and policies of the Communist Party of China, and uniting progressive youths and intellectuals, patriotic overseas Chinese, and international anti-war comrades.

To commemorate the October Revolution Day, to organize the "Lu Xun and Others Arrest Support Association," to carry out all kinds of anti-Japanese struggles, to participate in the southward demonstrations, to participate in the struggle of the "27" general strike, to invite Lu Xun to Beiping to give a speech, to give a public funeral of Li Dazhao, to participate in the Har People's Anti-Japanese Allied Army formed by Feng Yuxiang and Ji Hongchang, and to welcome the "International Anti-War Investigation Group," and so on. Later, he joined the Beiping Cultural Alliance.

The main publications are: "Northern Literature and Art", "Outpost", "Popular Culture", "We" Weekly, "Sharp", "Bubble", "Waves", "Science and News", "Theory and Creation", "Literary Magazine", etc. Successively served as leaders: Duan Xuesheng, Mo Hua, Zhang Xiuyan, Chen Biru, Zhang Jizhong, Tang Shouyu, Gu Jingsheng, Gao Chengzhi, etc. At its peak, there were nearly 200 people. She was the forefront of the "cultural encirclement and suppression" against the Kuomintang at that time, and she was also the vanguard of the Chinese nation's anti-Japanese front.

The hoe team under the leadership of the Communist Party has now grown to forty or fifty people.

They are no longer simply heroes who fight violence and peace, nor are they heroes who specialize in killing devils and hoeing traitors, but heroes who are responsible for protecting Liu Jingxi and the main members of the Beiping Left Alliance.

In the face of this newly injected new force, the Northern Left Federation was full of joy and enthusiasm, and all kinds of anti-Japanese forces became more and more active day by day.

On this day, in the Peiping market, the big and small bosses and guys who were ready to open after opening the door were all sucked by the anti-Japanese leaflets posted on the wall. They gathered in small groups and gathered around to watch the news on the battlefield between China and Japan. While the wonton shop Boss Li, holding a pot of flour in both hands, stood outside the circle of one person, while looking in with a shy face on his feet, he shouted in a rough voice: "Please read and read, read quickly!" ”

A young man selling sugar gourds held a large trumpet made of thick paper, stood next to a leaflet, let go of his thick and powerful voice and read: "Compatriots, it is the responsibility of the head of the national crisis......

Along with his voice, the streets and alleys were filled with the cries of the people, and also the atrocities that scolded the little Japanese invaders.

Aunt Wang, who sells fritters, carries a bamboo basket full of fritters on her right arm and a coarse paper wrapped in fritters in her left hand. She cried the hardest and scolded harder. The big girl who bought the fritters called her "Grandma Wang" behind her back and said: "You are so old, you still have to sell fritters to support yourself, don't cry your body!" ”

"You girl, you just talk about others and don't talk about yourself!" Aunt Wang, who sells fritters, said, "Aren't you also crying, what are you doing with your fists?" If the eldest lady is as young as you, she will go to the battlefield to kill the turtle grandson and the little devil, avenge the dead Chinese, and drive the invaders out of China! ”

As he was talking, a sea of slogans suddenly rang out: "Down with Japanese imperialism!" ”

"Down with the traitors and traitors!"

"Drive the aggressor out of China!"

…………

The hoe team members, while walking, scattered leaflets, and from time to time took the lead in shouting slogans, and from time to time helped up the common people who were squeezed down by the crowd.

On the cross street, several citizens surrounded Mr. Gu, the head of the Left League, who often gave speeches on the street.

They were gossiping, clamoring, and talking about the Chinese Communist Party's army.

A young man pulling a rickshaw asked Mr. Gu with a towel on his face sweat: "Mr. Gu, when will our poor people's team come over?" ”

"Soon, it won't be too long!"

After he said that, he took the lead and raised his fists and shouted the slogan: "Down with little Japan!" ”

"Down with the traitors and reactionaries! ……”
