Chapter 683: Water Margin Turmoil (Part II)
PS: Thank you for the monthly ticket voted by the book friend "nqm" again, and continue to ask for recommendation votes ^_^
Maybe because "Water Margin" is the only novel in ancient China with a rebel as the protagonist, Taizu has always loved it, but when he was young, he basically only read seventy copies, and he never read the hundreds, probably because he was dissatisfied with the ending (I personally think this is relatively secondary, because Taizu could even read "Dangkou Zhi" with relish when he was young), or it may be because the last thirty chapters are not well connected with the previous text, and the writing is far less exciting than the seventy chapters. It wasn't until later in his life that Taizu began to try to look at the post-seventy chapters from a critical point of view, that he first looked at it carefully, and some of his comments made great waves in China
Therefore, Hu Weidong can be sure that Taizu must not have read "Guben Water Margin" in history, and when he got the three trial printing samples from the Renjiao Publishing House, he always wanted to give them to the great man to read. Just as Taizu suddenly arrived, Hu Weidong simply took out the third book (the last fifty times) from the bookshelf and put it upside down on the table, which immediately attracted Taizu's attention. After the great man casually flipped a few pages, he was quickly attracted by the plot in the book, which was completely different from the hundred books, but was very connected to the previous one, and almost forgot to visit Hu Weidong for a while. However, Taizu is open-minded by nature, and there is no embarrassment after reflecting it, so he directly smiled and borrowed books from Hu Weidong, Hu Weidong originally had this intention, so he naturally agreed immediately.
However, Hu Weidong soon understood that those friends of Taizu in history were afraid that he would borrow books, and he would read them again and again if he had a favorite book. Therefore, he often returns the book very late, and secondly, he has a habit of reading the book between the lines, even if the book is borrowed
As a result, after the three copies of "Ancient Water Margin" were returned, Hu Weidong looked at the pages that looked like they had been scribbled by children at first glance, and couldn't help but feel depressed, you must know that although he also likes to write reading notes after reading books, he always finds another paper to write, and always keeps the books themselves clean, but it is obvious that the great man in this regard is much more casual than him
But soon Hu Weidong couldn't help but be a little curious. I want to see what annotations Taizu made on "Guben Water Margin". After reading it, I suddenly felt that the reason why a great man is a great man is indeed difficult for ordinary people to reach, but it is just a novel, but it can be linked to war and governance in reality. And drawing inferences from one case to the other will yield greater gains.
At least the understanding of "Guben Water Margin". Taizu is far more profound than Hu Weidong, a reader who has read it many times ago. In particular, some seemingly unreasonable places in the last fifty episodes of "Guben Water Margin" are very realistic in Taizu's view. For example, in the first seventy rounds, Yang Zhi easily defeated Zhou Jin, the powerful general of the Daimyo Mansion, in the school martial arts, but in the last fifty rounds, when Zhou Jin appeared again, he relied on a big hammer to defeat almost all the brave generals of Liang Shanbo. Only the same amazing flower monk Lu Zhishen can fight on par with it. This plot seems very unreasonable at first glance, but the great man thinks that this plot is a reflection of the author's cleverness, the Daimyo's Mansion is a martial arts test, and Yang Zhi, a skilled archer and horse, naturally took advantage of it, but in actual combat, as the so-called "one force reduces ten wisdom", Zhou Jin, who switched to heavy weapons, can subdue many brave generals in Liangshanbo by brute force alone
The great man believes that the reason why Zhou Jin's performance has such a huge contrast before and after is mainly because Liang Zhongshu of the Daimyo Mansion will not use people, and only by employing people's strengths can the true value of talents be brought into play. In the last fifty episodes of "Guben Water Margin", the big sword Wenda who was belittled by Liang Zhongshu also had a brilliant performance, and the equally famous king Li Cheng has been doing nothing because he is still under Liang Zhongshu, which is also an example of Liang Zhongshu's lack of use of people.
Later, at a certain party meeting, Taizu deliberately used this as an example to teach the leading cadres in the party to use their strengths, further correcting the old mistake of the Red Party in treating talent as "screws" and putting them wherever they were needed, but not taking into account the strengths and weaknesses of each person.
As Hu Weidong predicted before, due to Taizu's love and respect, the "Ancient Water Margin" edited by "Ancient Water Margin" was published faster, and the number of prints was much more than originally planned, but there are still many Water Margin experts who denounce it as not Shi Nai'an's original, and regard the earlier hundred copies as the original of the Water Margin, which has set off a big discussion about the various versions of the Water Margin earlier than in history.
Because "Guben Water Margin" was originally rewritten by Mei Jihe according to memory, and even the original collection of the Mei family could not verify whether it was written by Shi Nai'an, so if you are entangled in the fact that "Guben Water Margin" is Shi Nai'an's original work, you will fall into the trap set by those experts. Although Hu Weidong lacked experience in the struggle against the literati, he grasped the key to this great discussion: "The ancient book does not need to be the original of Shi Nai'an, it only needs to be more like the original of Shi Nai'an than the hundred editions."
Under the guidance of this idea, the people who supported "Guben Water Margin" concentrated their energies on the work of finding fault with the hundred books, and as a result, they quickly found out a lot of problems. For example, the plot in the first 70 episodes is mainly to fight traitors, strongly showing the hatred of traitors, and at the same time never forgetting to recruit An, but in the last 30 episodes of the hundred chapters, it suddenly becomes unconditional surrenderism, and its thinking has become extremely vulgar: as long as you get the false name of "loyalty", the traitorous party also worships, and the ministers also beg, and even poisons their brothers, and commits suicide. These plots are obviously incompatible with the idea of the first seventy episodes, but they are in line with the foolish loyalty that Luo Guanzhong has always advocated in works such as "Romance of the Three Kingdoms".
In addition, Luo Guanzhong likes to add a large number of poems to the novel, but it is recognized that there are few poems in the seventy chapters written by Shi Nai'an, which is also a strong evidence that Luo Guanzhong is the author of the last thirty chapters of the hundred chapters.
Since the last 30 chapters of the 100 chapters are clearly written by Luo Guanzhong, and they are not the same author as the first 70 chapters, what reason is there for the 100 chapters to be more qualified to be recognized as the original than the last fifty chapters, at least one point is the "Ancient Book Water Margin" written by Shi Nai'an? (To be continued......)
