Chapter 5 The war broke out, and the soldiers became an army? cattle
Ouyang Yun attaches great importance to the power of the media. In today's undeveloped world of communication, the media is the eyes of the public. Renqiu Daily, Renqiu Radio and Television Group, as well as some media from Nanjing, Beiping, Wuhan, Liangguang, and even Chongqing have reporters from the army. Now, when more than 10,000 devils led by the fourth floor of Tomamidi were disarmed by the 38th Division, these reporters were frantically taking pictures with their cameras, and some text reporters had already started their drafts, and words and phrases such as the most hearty victory in more than 200 years appeared in their minds.
Among the more than 10,000 devil captives, seven or eight thousand were seriously ill. But it was still a brilliant victory, and the officers and men of the 38th Division threw their guns and hats into the sky and cheered thunderously. When a group of high-ranking officers led by Zhang Zizhong walked into the battlefield, the soldiers greeted them one after another, and reported the news of victory to their most respected commander in their slightly hoarse voices: "Military seat, we have won!" "Commander, we've captured thousands of little devils!" …… Many people were in tears, choking and kneeling on the ground, beside them, their relatives and closest comrades-in-arms. In order to win this battle, in order to defend Tianjin, these unknown soldiers have left everything they have in this land where they have lived and fought.
In the distance in the direction of Tianjin, a large number of people are pouring over with rich condolences. The news of the victory has already reached the city of Tianjin, and now, the whole city of Tianjin is even more lively than during the Chinese New Year - perhaps, some people are selfish and afraid of death, but no one wants to be a slave to the country, no one wants to abandon their homeland.
The two brigades that the Kwantung Army had come to reinforce had now begun to retreat. Now that the 108th Division has been encircled and annihilated, their reinforcements have no meaning. Do you want an all-out war with the Chinese? Not only Minamijiro but also the Kwantung Army, even the Japanese government, was not prepared even if they thought about it. Of course, if the 38th Division fails to annihilate the 108th Division in one fell swoop, or, a major battle has begun.
The battle that took place in Lizhuang, Tianjin, finally ended in the defeat of the 108th Division. And under the vigorous coverage of the Chinese media, it is no longer possible for Minamijiro and the Kwantung Army to hide this news. The funny thing is that one of the purposes of the Kwantung Army command center led by Minamijiro to start such a war was originally to keep Minamijiro on the throne of the commander of the Kwantung Army, but now, Nanjiro has to bear the main responsibility for this defeat. Just as the Renqiu Daily newspaper published a front-page photograph of the fourth floor of Tohihara and Tomamichi and identified him with the words "prisoner of war," Minamijiro was dismissed by the Japanese military department. The old devil who has been removed from his official post will return home as a sinner, and what awaits him will be the trial of a military court. And because of the impact of this incident, the fate of World War II was decided in Japan's history, and the "226 Incident" that should have occurred on February 26 broke out ahead of schedule.
Let's follow the imprint of history and take a look at what really happened in Japan at this time - in the 30s of the 20th century, little Japan did not have a good time. In the face of the world's economic crisis at that time, Japan, an industrial country, was not immune. However, at this time, this small island country was still desperate for military force, and as a result, military spending increased year by year, and the total state budget continued unabated year after year. And with the "Nine? With the outbreak of the "18 Incident," Japan's military expenditure accounted for 31.2 percent of the country's total fiscal expenditure. By 1934, it had surged to 44 percent, and this year it had risen to an eye-popping 47.7 percent. This has led to a huge deficit in the Japanese government's budget. In order to compensate for this and maintain the state apparatus, the Japanese government had to issue public bonds and print money frequently, which led to hyperinflation and the depreciation of the yen. The indirect social consequences brought about by this are: the wages of workers have decreased, the price of rice has fallen, the enthusiasm of farmers to grow grain has been greatly reduced, the fields have been barren in large areas, and small and medium-sized enterprises have closed down; The unemployed are stoodling the streets, labor disputes are endless, and the urban and rural economies are in a desperate situation at the same time. By the end of 1932, Japanese farmers were in debt of an average of 2,000 yen, and every day people committed suicide by hanging themselves from a beam, jumping into a river, and even committing suicide by jumping into a river.
At this time, stimulated by the so-called military boom, the industrial structure since the Meiji Restoration gradually shifted to a wartime system. The Japanese government promulgated the "Law on the Control of Major Industries" to use state power to strengthen the control of major industries by the big chaebols. Mitsui, Mitsubishi, Sumitomo, Nissan, and Shendao have grown one after another under the protection of this policy, forming a huge monopoly capital. These war-driven chaebols, known as the "merchants of death," had to provoke a war on a larger scale in order not to bring their expanded production to a standstill. To this end, they collude with the belligerent military and the government – war is never forgotten.
Here I have to mention a Japanese writer named Kita Kazuki and his book called "Japan's Transformation Plan". It is a bit ridiculous to say that this book was written in August 1919 in an apartment in Shanghai, as the so-called writer who had not graduated from high school and was entirely self-studying, erudite, well-read and eloquent. Kita Ichiki's purpose in writing this book was to encourage Japanese soldiers and people with lofty ideals to carry out the so-called transformation of Japan in view of the trend of socialism spreading throughout the world at that time, and fearing that Japan would repeat the mistakes of Russia and the emergence of Lenin's regime or German socialism.
At that time, due to the influence of the great disarmament after World War I, many young soldiers in Japan were in a state of depression, and the appearance of Kita Kazuki's book can be said to have opened a window for them. For a time, the "Japanese Transformation Plan" was regarded as a golden rule by these young soldiers, and Kita Yihui himself was not only respected by them as his godfather, but also favored by some right-wing groups. Among them, Okawa Shuming, who is known as a Japanese right-wing theoretician, went to Shanghai to pick him up and bring him back to Kita Ichiki, and pulled him into the right-wing reform group "Yukusha Society" that he founded, thus making the Japanese ultra-rightists even stronger.
In the beginning, in order to so-called "transform Japan", Shuaki Okawa and Kita Kazuki were still able to work together to instigate a violent revolution. However, as the Japanese young soldiers were divided into the "control faction" and the "imperial faction", the two began to part ways because of their different positions.
The unification faction emphasized stability, while the imperial faction adopted radicalism. Among them, the head of the Unification faction was Lieutenant General Nagata Tetsuyama, the then director of the Military Affairs Bureau, and the head of the Imperial Road faction was Senior General Mazaki Shizaburo, the deputy chief of staff. And the planner of 226 in history is Bei Yihui, who has a strong ability to move and is respected as the godfather by the Imperial Dao faction. The reason why the 226 incident broke out ahead of schedule was naturally related to the rout of the 108th Division in Tianjin.
Pulling our eyes back to reality, on January 18, 1936, when the military and civilians of Tianjin were celebrating their victory, Tokyo, with Takaji Muraaka as the mastermind and the officers and soldiers of the 1st and 3rd Wings of the Japanese First Division as the backbone, began to enter the historical stage. The "118 Incident" that shocked the world took place. Except for the discrepancy in time, the course of this incident is almost the same as in history - the two most crucial points are: first, Prime Minister Keisuke Okada survived, and the army that caused the incident was eventually characterized as a rebel; Second, the rebels' order to arrest Minamijiro and others was not implemented, and Kita Kazuki, as the godfather of the Imperial Sect, was sentenced to death. As a direct consequence, the Japanese military department officially stepped onto the stage of history, and the so-called Japanese government completely became a puppet. The indirect consequence of this was that Nanjiro was not replaced by an Imperial Army, which led to the early outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War.
While there was a lot of uproar in Japan because of the military coup, there was also a lively scene in China. The victory of the 38th Division is tantamount to a rain storm after a long drought for China at present. The Chinese face too much bad news every day, and in this case, this message of victory is particularly important. Unlike the two victories fought by the Xuebing Army in Renqiu, this time, under the instruction of Lao Jiang, the media in Nanjing also carried out a big report on the battle. Lao Jiang even personally sent a telegram to Tianjin to commend Zhang Zizhong, express condolences to the officers and soldiers of the 38th Division, and intended to reorganize the 38th Division and Zhao Dengyu's 132nd Division into the 59th Army. This army, which was supposed to be established at the end of August 1037, was now born ahead of schedule because of the Battle of Tianjin. Don't underestimate this incident, for the Cadet Army, no matter what the personal relationship between Ouyang Yun and Zhang Zizhong is, and no matter what kind of friendship the two armies formed in the War of Resistance against Japan, in this way, the two armies can be regarded as two tigers in the same mountain. As far as the Japanese government was concerned, the Nanking government's intervention in North China was tantamount to violating the Ho-Mei Agreement, and the situation in North China had become unpredictable again.
As soon as the news of Nanjing's movements reached the ears of the senior echelons of the army, Li Tieshu, Guo Biao and others did not mention it, even Zhang Zhen and Ji Xingwen couldn't sit still. This Tianjin War of Resistance was ostensibly a collision between the 108th Division of the Japanese Army and the 38th Division of the 29th Army, but the Cadet Army could contribute a lot in it. Not to mention other shells such as intelligence and strategic materials, the artillery shells transported from the Cadet Army alone are astronomical for the 38th Division's little background.
As a result, the news that the 38th Division and the 132nd Division were going to merge to form the 59th Army came out of Nanjing, and the senior officials of the Cadet Army walked to Ouyang Yun's office in the headquarters of the Cadet Army.
