Chapter 43: The Devil's Web
At half past three on Friday afternoon, William and the other Ravenclaw students hurried down the steps to the field in front of the door to prepare for their first flying lesson.
It was a clear, breezy day, and the grass waved slightly under their feet as they walked briskly down the sloping grass toward a flat lawn across the field.
The Hufflepuff students were already there, along with dozens of broomsticks, neatly laid out on the ground.
William had heard Fred and George complain about the broomsticks at school, and now he saw that it was.
Each one was in tatters, as if it had been used for decades. Not to mention the safety performance, the senses are also very poor.
Is Hogwarts short of money?
There is certainly no shortage of money.
William seriously suspected that someone had eaten the kickback!
Mrs. Hodge walked briskly, her short gray hair and yellow eyes, like those of an eagle.
"Okay, what are you all waiting for?" She snapped, "Everybody stands next to a broomstick.
Hurry, hurry, hurry! ”
William found a broomstick that didn't look so broken, and made eye contact with it.
William had never been exposed to this kind of thing, and only hoped that the other party would give him some face.
"Stretch out your right hand and place it above the broomstick," Lady Hodge shouted in front, "and say, 'Get up!'" ’”
"Get up!" Everyone shouted.
William's broom trembled and climbed upward, as if he were struggling to climb a mountain.
William raised his voice again, and the speed of the broom increased only a little.
Qiu's broom ran into her hand in an instant, and she raised her eyebrows and glanced at William triumphantly.
It was the first time she had surpassed William in a certain class.
When everyone's broomsticks were in hand, Mrs. Hooch showed everyone how to ride a broom without slipping off their heads.
Riding on a flying broomstick, there is no discomfort as imagined, some kind of invisible support, as if under the buttocks.
Mrs. Hodge walked up and down the line, correcting their grips.
"All right, as soon as I whistle, you kick your legs off the ground and kick hard." Mrs. Hodge said.
"Hold the broom steady, rise a few feet, and lean forward slightly, falling vertically back to the ground.
Listen to my whistle - three-two-"
However, Hufflepuff House's Charpy seemed too nervous, and he kicked hard and flew up without waiting for the whistle to touch Mrs. Hooch's lips.
"Come back, kid!" Mrs. Hodge shouted, but Xia Ru flew into the distance like a rocket.
Fred and George also said that the broom was very slow, and William thought it was fast, and in a few moments, Charpy disappeared.
The Halo 1700 isn't that fast, right?
A little further away from the greenhouse, everyone found Charpy.
He was lucky.
Not far away, there is a special chemical fertilizer used to irrigate various herbal plants.
- Excrement of magical creatures.
Although there was a layer of magic protection on the outside of the septic tank, with that sprint speed, Charpy could not break through the defense and plunge into it.
He was also unlucky.
Charpy fell from a great height, and the reason why he was not injured was because he fell into a cloud of vines.
The broomstick was still in motion, and it woke up the plant, and a large number of tentacle-like branches poured out of the ground, breaking the worn broom with a whip.
Shabi sprang to his feet, struggling to move towards a damp wall, but the plant stretched out snake-like tendrils and wrapped around his ankles, lifting him to his feet.
He tried desperately to tear the vines apart, but the more he broke free, the faster and tighter the vines became entangled.
By the time William and the others arrived, Charpy had already been wrapped into rice dumplings, hanging from the eaves like a gourd baby.
"Help!!" Shabi shivered, he staggered, and looked like a green caterpillar from a distance.
But no one dared to go up, and more than a dozen meters long tentacles waved in mid-air, pounding on the ground and smashing a big crater.
That effect is like ten Aloys opening up together!
Everyone looked at Mrs. Hooch.
Mrs. Huoqi's face also changed slightly, and she recognized the name of the plant in front of her - Devil's Net!
Recognizable at a glance, not because she is knowledgeable and has a unique accomplishment in herbalism...... It's because a few months ago, Defense Against the Dark Arts professor Robert died because of this plant!
Robert was really miserable, drunk during the day, and after being seriously injured by a wild boar, he happened to fall into the devil's net and was entangled, and finally he was not treated and died of blood loss.
Mrs. Hodge knew that Professor Sprout had transplanted the devil's net, but she didn't expect the plant to be transplanted near the septic tank.
This flying broomstick is so good that it doesn't die, why do you want to fly here?
Well, the rest of the place is quite dangerous, with a tall fence to the west and north, the Black Lake to the south, the Forbidden Forest further east, and an even more dangerous beating willow not far away......
Hogwarts is such a dangerous place.
As for the Quidditch teacher, Lady Hooch......
Although she is an adult wizard and a teacher, she is not familiar with the devil's net!
You can't expect a PE teacher to answer calculus questions or calculate the probability of a carrier of red-green color blindness, right?
You can't even expect a Quidditch teacher to be reminded of the weaknesses of the devil's web.
Even if she had been, she would have returned it all to the professor for many years.
"You're all waiting here, I'm going to call Pomona......"
Mrs. Huo Qi panicked and was about to move the rescuers, but before she finished speaking, the devil's net opened again.
Being disturbed by so many people, the temper of the devil's net is very bad, and a large number of vines are rising on the ground, destroying everywhere.
Everyone retreated backwards, and Shabi was also thrown high, and the rattan flew with him towards the dung pit.
The little wizards all exclaimed, and it seemed that the next second they would see Charpy doing freestyle inside.
Autumn grabs the broomstick and seems to want to sit on it and save Shabi.
"Are you crazy?" William said. "Before you get closer, you'll be entangled in the devil's net."
"What then?" Qiu asked loudly as he grabbed his stick.
"I've heard Hagrid say that the Devil's Web likes to be dark and damp—"
"But we don't have fire!" Qiu said loudly, twisting her hands anxiously.
William was surprised, "Are you a witch or not?" ”
He drew his wand and waved it, chanting a spell in his mouth, and from the tip of his wand, a blue bellflower-like flame shot out.
He walked over the crowd and slowly towards the devil's net, with flames hanging from his wand, like a blue lantern,
Everyone looked at William, and many little wizards covered their eyes.
But countless vines bared their teeth and claws, but none of them dared to approach William, and they all hid in the dark corners.
In just a few seconds, Charpy felt the vines loosen their grip on him.
The plant twisted, twitched, and automatically loosened the tendrils that were wrapped around him, and he finally broke free completely.
Shabi breathed a sigh of relief.
So, he fell out of mid-air.
"Ahh Help me!! ”
