As a result, this highway has become a veritable "Yellow Springs Road...... Afghan guerrillas frequently set up ambushes in this mountainous area. Destruction, looting, interception, etc., made the main goal of the Soviet army's sweep to eliminate the guerrillas between the two major cities of Kakan in order to ensure the safety of this important supply line.

From this point of view...... It is true that the Soviet army had little experience in guerrilla warfare.
