Chapter 7: Bertha Jorkins
Cedric was chatting in the front room, along with Weasley and Mr. Diggory.
"How did you get here?" Seeing Roy, Mr. Weasley excitedly stood up and asked, "The car?" ”
"Portkey, Mr. Weasley." William replied, "He pulled a golden coin out of his pocket. ”
William knew that Mr. Weasley was working on a magic car, and during the summer vacation, he wrote to ask a lot of questions about the car.
"Oh, of course, the Ministry of Magic is cautious this time." Mr. Weasley was disappointed. "I didn't use the portkey last time and was almost discovered by the Muggles on the tour."
The location of Merlin's Cottage is a tourist attraction for Muggles, and it can be easily spotted if you are not careful.
Mr. Diggory approached and shook William's hand cordially, and said, "William, thank you for the invitation.
Every year, the award banquet of the Order of the Order of Merlin invites senior executives and dignitaries of the Ministry of Magic from all over the world, as well as outstanding figures from various industries. ”
"But there are very few invitations circulating in England, and it is very difficult to get them, and Lovegood wants to buy my place for two hundred Galleons, and he wants to bring his daughter Luna, but I refuse."
"Nothing." William said politely, "Cedric is a good friend of mine. ”
"Who else hasn't arrived?" Mr. Weasley asked.
"Flitwick and Professor McGonagall have arrived ahead of schedule with Professor Dumbledore, so let's go first." William said.
The crowd walked outside.
They settled in a village called Salisbury, a wizarding village and the largest Muggle village in England.
They usually hide their identities and concentrate on tourism, just to cover for the annual medal ceremony of the Merlin Order.
After passing through the road, the group came to a magnificent ruin.
- Stonehenge.
"Oh, I've been here before, and I didn't notice anything unusual before." Hermione covered her mouth in surprise.
Stonehenge is a famous attraction in the UK, but I didn't expect that there was a Merlin Cottage hidden underground.
Fred explains, "Wizard-born children know that there is a bedtime story about Stonehenge and Merlin.
Legend has it that Merlin sang a magical ballad in honor of King Arthur's uncle, calling huge stones from Ireland to fly in, and built Stonehenge on Salisbury Plains overnight. ”
William shrugged: "My bedtime story is the love-hate relationship between Snow White and the seven gourd babies. ”
Hermione looked at William with a confused expression, what the hell are the seven gourd babies?
As they stepped into Stonehenge, the gold coins in William's pocket floated from his pocket, casting a bright light, and as darkness cleared them, they appeared at one end of a very deep and imposing hall.
The hall has a very bright black wooden floor, and the peacock blue ceiling is inlaid with glittering gold symbols that are constantly moving and changing.
"Go this way." Mr. Weasley said.
Under Mr. Weasley's guidance, everyone came to the left, where there was a sign that said where to be safe.
As they approached, a wizard looked up at them and lowered the Daily Prophet in his hand.
"Stand here." The wizard said in a bored tone.
The crowd walked up to him, and he pulled out a long golden rod, thin and soft like a car antenna, with which the wizard flew up and down in front of each person.
"Wand." The wizard in the safety of the place put down the golden device and reached out.
William, Hermione, and Cedric handed over their wands.
The wizard placed his wand on a strange brass instrument that resembled a dish antenna of various proportions.
The instrument began to vibrate, and five narrow strips of parchment came out of the bottom of the instrument. The wizard picked up the parchment and read the words on it.
"Cherry wood, phoenix feathers, twelve and three-quarters inches, is the information correct?"
"Yes." William replied.
"I'll keep this," the wizard said, nailing the small strip of parchment to a small brass nail. "You take your wand back."
He tossed his wand to William and added.
"Thank you."
"Wait......" the wizard said suddenly.
"Are you...... William Stark? ”
He glanced at the Daily Prophet, which also had a picture of William.
"Yes."
"Oh roar, single-handedly caught the Death Eaters attacking the Ministry of Magic, I heard my son mention you, he is the Shabi of Hufflepuff."
William remembers Shabby, the man who almost fell into the microbial corruption pool during flight lesson.
The wizard pulled out a piece of paper and seemed to want to sign it.
"Thank you, Ole." Mr. Weasley said calmly. "Hurry up and check the other wands, we've got something to do."
"Oh well."
The wizard quickly checked all the wands, and he spoke, "Bertha Jorkins will take you to the Merlin Memorial." ”
Mr. Diggory raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, don't be like that, Diggory, we don't have any manpower here for the time being, you know, this is the Merlin Order ceremony, wizards from all over the world are here today."
The wizard complained, "If you want me to say, you shouldn't send so many invitations, just send them to the winners and his relatives, send so many to dignitaries, rich wizards, and don't know how much money the Ministry of Magic has taken......"
"Alright," interrupted Mr. Weasley, "where has Bertha gone?" She's not going to get lost again, is she? ”
"Quite possibly." Ole smirked, "Maybe she'll find her way after the banquet."
Her memory has become so poor lately, and like the old lady, she often forgets all kinds of things.
Mr. Crouch should have told her to leave our department and go to the athletics division, and Ludo Bagman was a fool and should have understood her. ”
"Hello! Hello! At this moment, an anxious voice came from the opposite side of the hall, "Is there a new guest?" I just went to the toilet and got lost. ”
William saw a witch with a sign and a parchment roll hurrying towards them.
The witch was a little fat, and found her way again, and she waved happily, her curly blonde hair peeking out from under her sleek threaded wizard's hat.
Well...... If you get lost even in the toilet, can you really take a few people to the Merlin Memorial?
William was skeptical.
