Chapter 33: The Maiden and the Spice

The night in the north came earlier, and when He An came to the gate of the community, it was already dark.

Under the flickering lights at the gate of the community, He An, who came in a hurry, suddenly stopped.

"I forgot that the family members have increased, so the food and condiments need to be replenished."

He An slapped his head, and finally recovered from the huge pressure brought to him by the detective, it is unknown what will happen tomorrow, but he has to take it seriously tonight.

So he took a long breath and then turned around and went to the fresh food supermarket outside the community.

At this point, there are many fewer ingredients to choose from than in the morning, but with He An's craftsmanship, this is not a difficult task.

Thirteen minutes later, when He An opened the door, he heard two greetings one after another:

"Welcome back."

"Welcome Home, Master"

Looking at Saber, who was respectfully waiting in front of the door, He An suddenly felt that the welcome function of the electronic lock could be canceled.

After all, there was someone waiting for him to come back this time, and he didn't have to face an empty and deserted dwelling again.

"I'm back." Facing Saber, who had been waiting for a long time, He An smiled knowingly.

After about thirty-eight minutes, all electronic lighting was turned off in the small dwelling.

But the room was not pitch black, one was a little starlight projected from the bathroom, and the faint light passed over the construction belt of the front and back layers and sprinkled into the dining table in the center.

Then there's the set of candles lit at the dining table.

Whether it's black pepper steaks, honey-glazed chicken wings, pan-fried pedal fish, mashed potatoes, fruit salad, seafood pasta gratin, or a glass of juice made from fresh grapes, the flickering candlelight is shrouded in mystery.

"How's that, isn't it very atmospheric?" He An asked quite proudly, he had used this hand at his birthday banquet, but after all, he was the only one on the scene, and he was not praised by anyone.

"Well, it smells so good!" Saber swept through the table and nodded in satisfaction.

"Well, there's a fly in the ointment, I haven't had time to buy you some clothes, I'm sorry to let you wear my pajamas."

Now Saber is wearing a pajama covered with pale blue stars, which He An bought two years ago.

Half-new, not much worn, and with his figure at the time, it was quite suitable for Saber.

But Saber obviously didn't care too much about these people, and her eyes were already attracted by the table full of food.

However, He An still has a sense of ceremony, before the meal, he raised the wine glass in front of him, and said to Saber with a smile:

"Yesterday was too rushed, this is your welcome dinner, welcome you Saber, and this will be your home from now on."

Saber looked up at He An with some surprise, and her gaze looked beyond the wine glass to see the serious face.

The girl thought for a moment, and then smiled like a flower.

"Okay, Master."

The two of them got up at the same time, trying to touch their glasses together.

Then the welcome party officially began, and Saber was surprised by the speed at which He Andu was surprised.

When she was about to sweep the food in front of her, she noticed that He An on the opposite side had only eaten a few bites just now.

Saber's face turned red for a moment, and then he whispered:

"Food is an important military supply, and it needs to be replenished as a top priority."

He An saw the empty dinner plate opposite, he smiled and cut his steak in half and handed it over to a small plate.

Saber would not be kind to the Master's generosity.

She happily took the small plate and continued to enjoy the delicious sensation of the steak.

looked at the girl in the candlelight, and then at the little starlight outside the house.

He Anxin felt something and asked:

"Saber, what kind of world is that future you come from?"

Hearing Master's inquiry, Saber immediately stopped his knife and fork.

She pondered the Master earnestly and asked uncertainly:

"Master wants to conquer that world, with our current strength, we can't do it."

"And I guess the Master wouldn't like that era either." Saber added in a whisper.

"It's okay to conquer the world or something, but shouldn't the future world be better, why do you say that?" He An said as he motioned for Saber to continue eating.

Looking at the few steaks left in front of her, the girl cut them into small pieces with a more delicate knife technique.

Although close at hand, Saber's gaze seemed to have traveled through time and space, and even her voice became ethereal.

"With the historical documents remaining from that era, it is not clear which came first, the war or the nightmare."

"It's just that when humanity finally wakes up from its nightmare, it is a devastated world."

"Cities are in ruins, the past is in ashes, and people who have been reborn don't know where they are or what kind of country they once had under their feet."

"Huge ravines tore through the earth, magma flowed freely on the ground, and radiant sand and dust swept across the sky."

"What's more, due to the leakage of psionic energy, the energy of the earth is rapidly decaying, fields have become uncultivated frozen soil, and the originally docile poultry have been infected with unknown viruses and turned into mutated and twisted monsters."

Just when people thought that this was the worst, people were surprised to find that humanity was reviving with a mechanical civilization that had been established at some unknown time. They regard humanity as the fourth natural plague and will do everything possible to exterminate humanity. ”

"The war is burning on the ground, the earth is still dying step by step, and in the depths of the universe, an unknown shadow covers the sky, causing the stars in the sky to burst one by one like bubbles."

"It was the worst of times, we don't know which end will come first, but in any case, there is no hope for the future of mankind, not a drop at all."

It may be that a cold wind blew in from the broken wall made He An shiver for no reason.

The future described by Saber is not at all the same as He An thinks.

He believes that the future will be a high-tech world of towering buildings and a vast space fleet.

Under the light of science and technology, human beings bid farewell to a series of problems such as disease, food and clothing, and live carefree.

They can leave the tedious work to meticulous machines, and spend a lot of time exploring the universe and finding a deeper meaning of life for the world.

Sure enough, there will always be a big difference between reality and ideals, but this time I didn't expect it to be so different.

Seeing that He An was still trying to think about the words just now, in order to deepen Master's understanding, Saber further explained:

"Well, let me tell you a little story about the equator, which is news from a friend from afar, and maybe you will be clearer after listening to it."
