Chapter 175: Psychological Training

Commander Liu's proposal was quickly agreed to by Commander Zhang, after all, this was not a bad thing, so dozens of Type 79 sniper rifles were quickly delivered to the hands of the 40th Division.

For this, Head Liu is naturally very grateful...... Don't underestimate these dozens of 79 snipers that we don't use in the synthetic battalion, you must know that this thing is not available in other troops, and the 40th Division can be equipped with dozens at once, so if other troops know, they will definitely be envious.

Moreover, for the troops who are going to go to the battlefield to fight...... Jinshan Yinshan is not as important as the equipment that is easy to use, and the soldiers who have been on the battlefield know in their hearts that Jinshan Yinshan can't even hold a pack of biscuits on the battlefield, and if you want to save your life, you have to rely on competent weapons.

Therefore, Commander Liu thinks that he owes me a big favor, but I don't take this as a thing, on the one hand, this will indeed be like what Commander Liu said on the battlefield in the future, and it may also help our synthetic battalion, on the other hand, I think this is just a trivial matter.

What's more, at this time, I was preoccupied with the training of the sniper company......

After a period of training, the sniper company has indeed made great progress.

The number of sniper companies has been screened through layers of lurking, calculation, and shooting, and the number of sniper companies has been sharply reduced from more than 300 to more than 180 now...... The elimination rate has almost reached 50 percent...... Moreover, objectively speaking, this 50 percent is not the elimination rate, because these soldiers themselves were selected from more than 10,000 people in the 40 divisions, so the 50 percent elimination rate is already quite large.

On the other hand, this also shows that the quality of our army in this era is not good enough...... You must know that the 40th Division is still a soldier who has fought on the battlefield, and even so, I can only pick out more than a hundred snipers who meet my requirements.

However, although the number of people has dropped sharply. But there is no doubt that it has been qualitatively improved in terms of combat effectiveness...... This can be seen from the results of one of the exercises I did......

In fact, this exercise was inspired by the previous military exercise. My staff officers and I discussed whether we could simulate a real battlefield atmosphere so that the soldiers could have a confrontation.

This is necessary. After all, the real battlefield is not the same as the training ground, some people don't look at the training ground and are very angry, but as soon as they walk on the real battlefield, they almost don't lie on the ground and shout their mothers...... This is especially true for snipers, because snipers shoot guns and shoot bullets...... As long as their psychology is affected even a little, breathing heavier, having a faster heartbeat, or even not pulling the trigger steadily enough will directly cause the bullet to deviate from the target.

This is the so-called "a small difference, a thousand miles wrong", which is a phrase used to describe the bullet hitting a long-range target.

As a result, a live-fire exercise was launched under the planning of Zhao Jingping and other staff officers.

By this time our sniper company had been reorganized into four platoons. There are more than 40 people in each platoon...... The reason why there will be more than 40 people in a platoon is because it is considered that some people may be eliminated in the future.

Zhao Jingping divided the four platoons into two groups, two platoons each, and then one group was the Blue Army and the other was the Red Army......

Just like the previous exercises, we also used some methods to stagger the red and blue sides...... To put it simply, at the beginning, both sides go to the battlefield with empty cartridges, and after entering the sniper position, they replace the real person with a humanoid puppet in the lurking position and camouflage it accordingly, and then take turns shooting at each other.

In order to simulate the atmosphere of the battlefield as much as possible, we also arranged a few machine gunners and mortar shooters around the battlefield to shoot a row of bullets or shells from time to time, and added some smoke in the middle of the position to confuse the vision.

The exercise also attracted Commander Zhang and a group of staff officers under him to watch...... At first, when they looked at the humanoid puppets we had set up with each other, they shook their heads and thought that this exercise might not be possible. The reason is that they can't even find a "person" hiding there when they walk in front of these disguises. How could a warrior on the other side, who was five hundred meters away or more, find out?

But it turned out that their conclusions were made too early, and the reason was that the fighters were snipers trained in stealth. They themselves have a lot of experience in lurking, and this experience will tell them where enemy snipers are likely to lurk, so that after narrowing down the search area, they can then look for the location of the "target" based on some clues, such as whether the plant is unnatural, such as whether the swing amplitude is different from the nearby after the wind......

It was these small differences that allowed the soldiers to discover the location of the "target" again and again, so in the exercises that Commander Zhang and others originally thought could not be carried out, they were very happy to be shot back and forth, and then Commander Zhang and other staff officers were surprised to see the humanoid puppets that were broken by bullets being carried down.

It doesn't really matter which side wins this military exercise, but the important thing is that I know that the psychological quality of the soldiers is still good...... This may be related to the fact that the soldiers have been on the battlefield, and they have all rolled over from the edge of life and death, so they naturally have a certain psychological preparation for all this.

But I don't think it's enough, because the real battlefield will still be life-and-death pressure for snipers, especially if we are still facing snipers from the Vietnamese army...... This means that sometimes the bullets are coming towards you before the enemy even knows where they are.

Although the exercise can simulate the sound of gunfire, artillery, and even gunsmoke...... However, the pressure of death cannot be simulated in any way, so I think it is necessary to strengthen the psychological training of the fighters.

There are many ways to do this, such as in terms of mental load...... You can first ask the fighters to do a series of exercises, 100-meter sprints, push-ups plus sit-ups, etc., and then order the fighters to shoot with guns as soon as they are tired and out of breath, and there is still a time limit...... Five rounds were fired in two minutes.

The purpose of this training is to train the fighters to shoot at higher heart rates and heavier breathing...... In order to hit the target accurately, they must force themselves to stabilize their heartbeat and breathing as fast as possible at this time...... It's not easy, but it's not that hard...... The trick lies in perseverance.

This is the common characteristic of the human body, and after a period of perseverance and tempering, the body will slowly adapt to this situation...... Even later, a conditioned response is formed, that is, once the heart beats faster and the breath is short, the body will naturally recall the previous training, and then self-regulate, and then slow down the heartbeat and breathing rate.

Then there is the attention training, which is also an important aspect of sniper training, because the sniper's attention will be disturbed in many ways on the battlefield, such as bullets and shrapnel flying around him, the screams and sacrifices of his comrades, etc., all of which may make the sniper unable to focus on the target.

On the other hand, when people are highly concentrated, they tend to have some of the following changes:

1. Other activities are often at rest, and all kinds of unrelated movements will be relatively stopped.

2. Breathing tends to become slight or slow, and even occurs in a momentary stagnation, which is commonly known as "breath-holding".

Three: The body will unconsciously show posture or movement that is suitable for the goal.

This phenomenon has happened to everyone...... For example, if you are watching a movie that you like, listening to your favorite music, or fully immersed in the plot depicted in the novel...... When someone passes by or talks to you, you often ignore it completely.

This state is not advisable for an ordinary soldier, and even for a sniper in many cases, because there can be danger in any direction on the battlefield, so it is necessary to listen to all directions and see six ways.

But......

At a given moment, the Sniper is required to be able to achieve this state of high concentration...... This is the moment when the target is determined and the decision is made to kill it, at this time, the sniper needs to ignore everything around him, and all he can see and think about is a gun in his hand and the trajectory of the target.

There are many ways to train, the most common is to focus on the hands of the watch for a few minutes in a row, and if you don't have a watch, count how many times the leaves have swayed in the wind, or blow a few whistles from time to time for the fighters to judge how many blows......

Of course, this was to be done under the intense sound of gunfire and artillery, and the purpose of this was to train the soldiers to be able to ignore the gunfire and cannon fire at the right time and concentrate their attention completely on the object to which they needed attention.

zuihou is for relaxation training......

Snipers often lurk in one place for hours, tens of hours, or even dozens of hours...... After such a long period of incubation, the body is bound to show signs of excessive fatigue...... This will undoubtedly affect the level of shooting.

At this time, it is necessary to relax the training, the purpose of which is to relax one's body and mind in a certain way when facing battle, so that one's thinking and mental functions can temporarily return to a normal level, so that the shooting level can be brought into normal play.

This kind of training is actually not difficult, the first thing is to control the muscles of the body to repeatedly tighten and relax...... Snipers often have to lie on their stomachs and stay still, but it is possible to control the proper tightening and relaxation of their muscles. The second is to regulate deep breathing. The second is the relaxation of psychological autosuggestion, such as imagining lying on a pile of cotton, or taking a comfortable bath in hot water.

It is conceivable whether you can control as you like psychologically, and this is the difference between a professional sniper and an ordinary gunner. (To be continued......)
