Chapter 301: Soul Eater
Suddenly a large figure burst out of the shattered building, reeking of stale blood and fear.
A terrifying form manifested in the smoke and dust, a broad and massive entity, clad in thick armor that had been worn and broken. Horned skulls emerge, fanged jaws cracking open with vicious gluttony.
"What is this?" It's the first time I've seen an undead with an entity.
"Soul Eater." Karn said, "A spirit that eats humanity for eternity is not a good thing. ”
As he spoke, the Soul Eater's arm emitted red lightning bolts, which landed in a thick smoke that rolled and rolled into a hungry storm.
Then a group of smaller spirits appeared—broken, half-digested souls, some missing arms, some missing jaws, some disemboweled, and empty skulls.
The blood-red chain of light tethered them to the great evil spirit, allowing them to be eaten away and enslaved at the same time.
Kai'Sa took two steps back, and she actually felt their pain, the fear of being eaten slowly. But what's even more terrifying is that it senses their desire to get rid of the torment.
"A feast of flesh and blood." The Soul Eater spoke, its sound like a blunt saw pulling against a bone.
Then it strode towards them, a grim smile splitting his cruel face in half.
She tried to fight back, shattering it into mindless shards, but Karn stopped her just in time.
"Don't do anything here, the Soul Eaters were attracted by the movement of the battle we just had."
Kai'Sa immediately realized and ran away from the city, followed by the other two.
Seeing their prey flee, the Soul Eater raised a strong hand, and the enslaved and mutilated souls floated towards them.
The cold claws glowed coldly, grabbing at Karn's back, but the red chain of light limited the distance, and the clawing was empty.
The gluttonous Soul Eater was unwilling to let go of the shackles of these mutilated souls, knowing that once the chains were unchained, the souls he tortured and gnawed away would escape.
It moved its large, muscular body, driving the imps towards the trio, its stocky belly leaning forward, as if it might roll down the hill at any moment.
Heavy footsteps echoed in the black fog behind him, accompanied by the terrible screams of the imps.
Karn had been unhurried, and it was best for him to get rid of the undead on the island.
If he did, the Soul Eater might have been tracked to the tavern in some way, and he didn't want to break the tavern's taboo on the first day of treasure hunting.
Halfway up the hill, they stopped, and the screaming imp was the first to burst out of the black mist and appear in front of them.
Seeing this, Kai'Sa did not hesitate to lower her upper body and aim her pods at them, sending a scorching relief.
A barrage of missiles struck the mutilated spirits, untying them from their cannibalized chains and sending them to the black mist to forget their pain.
"My meal! No! The thick black mist was shaken open by the roar of the Soul Eater, and its massive figure emerged from the mist, staring at the three of them condescendingly, the cold light in its eyes revealing infinite hunger and intense anger.
"Take your lives!"
The Soul Eater opened its ravine-like mouth as if a black hole had opened, and the wind swept everything in its path into its mouth.
Black mist, dust, and souls...... None of them were spared.
For a moment, Karn felt his soul being tugged at by the force, but it was blocked by the armor and stored safely in his body.
It's just that the suction of the Soul Eater is still there, and the wind is pushing them into the abyssal maw.
"You like to swallow, don't you?" Karn was certain in his heart, and began to release Void Energy in his palm to fabricate entities.
Kai'Sa and Sarah resisted the suction and unleashed a round of fire on the Soul Eater, but most of the missiles were sucked into their mouths, leaving the rest to hit its thick-skinned body with little effect.
After fabricating it, Karn's henchmen appeared with an ethereal spirit, which he threw at the Soul Eater, and the ethereal writhed wildly and was swallowed by the Soul Eater.
As if tasting a taste completely different from flesh and blood, the Soul Eater stopped sucking, looked puzzled, and reached out to see what he had swallowed.
But before it could touch its mouth, a strong purple light replaced the cold blue light in its mouth, and then its terrifyingly hungry beast form exploded in an instant.
There was no flesh and blood, it was like a cloud of dust exploding, and its huge body disintegrated into countless shimmering powders, forming a vortex of clouds and mist, which was resisting the absorption of the black mist.
"It's not going to be resurrected, is it?" Sarah's face under her helmet was ugly.
Karn couldn't tell, just stared at the cloud.
The blue mist swirled in the air for a few times, and then it was pulled into a long strip by an inexplicable force, and quickly retreated towards the hillside. A howl of resentment tore through the air, and it was sent far away by the whirlwind, and finally returned to dead silence as if it had been covered.
Kai'Sa seemed to realize something, and quickly chased in the direction of the clouds and mist, leaving the two far behind.
"What is she going to do?" Sarah looked at the direction of Kaisha's departure in bewilderment, wasn't that the end of their exploration today?
"I don't know, keep up." For the first time in his life, Karn didn't know what Kai'Sa was trying to do, so he hurried after him, hoping that Kai'Sa wouldn't run into the demon-infested city.
At the edge of the cliff, they find Kaisha, who is walking down the hill holding a glowing object.
She couldn't run fast because of the thing in her hand, so she explained to Karn when she got closer.
"I followed the blue mist and found this from the ruins that the Soul Eater had knocked down."
Kai'Sa handed Karn something, a two-palm-tall crystal hourglass nested with a fine brass stand nested outside, and the grumpy clouds swirled in it with a blue glow, constantly moving back and forth, burrowing from top to bottom.
"It's sealed inside." Karn said, "Thanks to you, otherwise we wouldn't have known there was such a thing." ”
Karn gently lowered the hourglass, and listened to Kai'Sa ponder, "But it's not a good thing, what to do with it?" ”
"Put it in the vault." Karn chuckled, "Didn't you want to see what the vault looked like last night?" Isn't this the opportunity to come. ”
"What is the vault?" Sarah coughed.
"Don't talk about it yet, you'll know when the time comes." Kai'Sa made a mischievous joke, and then helped Karn pick up the lantern so that he could hold the crystal hourglass more steadily, which looked very fragile.
"It's not early, we have to rush back before nightfall, let's go."
