Chapter Seventy-Three: Confrontation

"Clyde, looks like you're going to have to show some real skills." Olajuwon reminisced about Kobe's breakaway dunk just now, which was an obvious response shot.

"I know." Drexler went straight past Olajuwon's pass, held the ball himself, and dribbled through the half.

Matt Maloney on the side opened his mouth wide, it was just too much! Do you even want to take away my role as a dribble guard?

Drexler faced Bruce Bowen's defense and accelerated to break through again, but Bowen didn't keep up.

Jump up from mid-range and shoot to the ball.

"Why? Why can't you keep up. Bowen was confused, Drexler's absolute speed was not fast, but he could pass him.

"Momentum, Bruce, you're nervous under his momentum." Bryant replied to Bowen's muttering.

"No, I didn't." Bowen gritted his teeth, and although he didn't admit it, he knew in his heart that it was true. His career, defensive skills have been honed from the European league, and he has a hint of panic in the face of the superstar of American professional basketball.

The slightest hint of panic faltered his defence.

Can a failed draft pick prevent these superstars?

This is a question on Bowen's heart, and since he entered the starting line-up, there has been no top player to play against him.

He also played well against ordinary players, and his defense and three-point play were good contributions to the team.

Today, however, Drexler tore through his mask, revealing a helpless face underneath it.

How can a player who is not drafted and a player who is not very good in the European League survive in professional basketball? This is what the media in Los Angeles is questioning him.

"He's so bad, he can't walk as well as my grandma."

"Bowen doesn't deserve to be the starter in the American professional basketball team."

"Bruce may have gotten started because of his relationship with Kobe."

"Go back to Europe!"

Bowen bowed his head, and the words from the audience kept ringing in his ears.

Kobe Bryant shook his head, it seems that Drexler will teach Bowen a good lesson today. But it's these tribulations that make them better. No one is born strong, and I hope he can be as brave as Ben.

Bryant didn't offer a change of defense, knowing it was Bowen's ordeal and opportunity. Defending is Bowen's job, and meddling in it will only make him more uncomfortable.

So, let me beat the morale out on the offensive end!

This is Kobe's consistent rule, when teammates are low, then lead by example!

Mario Elli looked at Kobe Bryant with the ball and swallowed nervously.

The first half was fine, just without the ball, and his teammates and coaches could accept that he couldn't catch up with Kobe.

How did Kobe Bryant start to go heads-up with the ball in the second half? Can't you just keep running well?

It's a shame to fail heads-up! Can't we play each other?

Bryant dribbled in front of Mario Elie, changed his rhythm, and suddenly accelerated and broke through with a large cross-dribble.

Mario Elie's weight advantage instead turned into a hole for Kobe Bryant to attack him, Kobe's physical coordination is too good, and his excellent core strength allows him to quickly change speeds in disguise.

And Mario Elie's bulky footsteps look very lame in front of Kobe.

After Bryant broke through, he quickly pulled the ball back, and one dribbled behind to collect the ball successfully.

Mario Eli couldn't hold his feet and was shaken off a few steps as he watched as Bryant hit a shot.

The next third quarter of the game became Kobe Bryant and Drexler's solo show.

Kobe Bryant overwhelmed Mario Elli with rhythm and disguise, and Mario Elli had to admit that his legs were a little weak in front of Kobe Bryant, and his ankles ached.

Drexler, on the other hand, was simpler, often creating excellent scoring opportunities with an acceleration or pick-and-roll, and he played at the top of his game, ignoring Bruce Bowen's defense.

"Damn it, Bruce. Defend him! O'Neal was a little explosive, couldn't catch the ball in the third quarter, and often wiped Bowen's ass.

Bowen didn't say a word, and a layer of black mist seemed to be shrouded in his body.

"Bruce, beat him openly." Kobe Bryant is in the right color, and he is a little worried about Bowen's outside moves. Drexler's run-and-jump style of play is vulnerable to irreparable damage, and this is something that Kobe Bryant has not been far away.

"I see, I will." Bowen gritted his teeth.

The score staggered up in the third quarter, and the Lakers starters maintained the advantage generated in the second quarter.

And when the two sides played off the bench, Houston replaced Barkley to lead the bench this time.

The interior combination of Barkley and Willis is extremely offensive and the Lakers' shooters feel slightly cold, resulting in the slight point difference being erased.

72:72 flat. The two sides ran under the line together and entered the fourth quarter of the decisive link. Bryant scored 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting in the third quarter. The total score quietly reached 33 points.

"Fake, Kobe is going to score 40 points this time." O'Neal was a little surprised to see the statistics on the data desk, not to mention rookies, any player who scored 40 points is a very thing to celebrate in this era.

"I'm more concerned about winning." Bryant gasped, attacked with a lot of ball, and the speed shaking was quite physically draining, especially since he had to dodge Mario Elie's collision as much as possible, and it was not easy to play with such efficiency.

Fortunately, Matt Maloney is only a fixed-point shooter, and Kobe Bryant doesn't have to spend much effort on defense.

Drexler was 6-of-9 in the first quarter and finished with 15 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. He blew up Bowen's defense. He seems to have returned to his youth, full of impact and mid-cast. The various scoring methods were used alternately, leaving Bowen exhausted.

"Clyde, well done." Olajuwon patted the old friend on the back, a veteran like them who usually only shows this form in the playoffs. As he ages and turns 34, Clyde Drexler's performance can be said to be one less game.

At the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Lakers fielded a lineup of PG Van Exel, SG Eddie Jones, SF Bruce Bowen, PF Rob Horry, C O'Neal.

Harris put Bryant off the court to rest and prepare for the final showdown moment.

And Ben Wallace, who didn't match O'Neal, was also put off the field and replaced by Horry, who played well in this game.

Houston brought on Ross Barkley and Olajuwon, also resting Drexler.

O'Neill has room to play, but he has been holding back for most of the game. Catch the ball and hit Olajuwon again and again.

The eager O'Neal's attack was disrupted by Olajuwon and did not achieve much effect.

On the contrary, it was Barkley and Olajuwon who connected inside and outside and played a good performance. Shot inside and out, and hit successfully one after another.

81:78 The Lakers trailed by 3 points with 8 minutes left in the game. The two sides coincidentally changed all the starters.

It's time for the decisive battle!
