So soon Commander Huang sent a battalion of troops to come up and change the guard with us...... The soldiers of that battalion looked up at us as if they had seen an idol, especially after we drove the brand-new tanks and armored vehicles.

Of course, the soldiers also felt the envy in their eyes, and a sense of pride soon arose, especially the soldiers of the first company...... The soldiers of our second company have experienced this kind of thing several times, so it is naturally not surprising. But many of the soldiers of the first company, even the mortar company and the engineer company, fought such a big victory for the first time, so the one who was called arrogant and arrogant, all of them straightened their waists in front of the soldiers of the 73rd Army, and some even shouted and commanded the soldiers of the 73rd Army to do this and that......

What makes me feel a little laughable is that some of the soldiers who were called up were wearing cadre uniforms...... But it's not surprising to think about it...... The values on the battlefield are different from those of the peaceful shijie, in the peaceful shijie, it is the official who crushes people to death, and on the battlefield, whoever can win the battle is the boss...... For example, now. The soldiers of the synthetic battalion will naturally have a mentality: what are the platoon commanders and company commanders of the 73rd Army. Or did we take down this Banwang? We're all working hard for them. Asking them to move something, that's not a trivial matter!

This kind of atmosphere may be a little out of line with the discipline of the army, or it may be said that it is not in line with some fine traditions...... But no one paid attention to this here, and the warriors only thought about it...... If I win the battle that you can't win, then I will be one level higher than you, and I will be able to suppress you psychologically, how can you drop? It's like you're just like us!

At first glance, this may not sound like a good thing...... The education of our Chinese nation is "not arrogant in victory and not discouraged in defeat", and this is obviously the pride after victory.

But in fact, this atmosphere is still beneficial to the troops.

First of all, this "victory is not arrogant" should be "not arrogant" to the enemy, as for his own people...... That "pride" is completely necessary. We fought with our lives to win the battle. If you can't be proud and proud in front of your own people, then it's a fart, and next time we will know that we will hide behind and enjoy the blessings.

Second, it can also stimulate other troops to do the same...... The troops who did not win the battle looked at the proud appearance of the troops who won the battle, and their hearts would naturally be envious; Seeing their arrogant appearance, they have to be submissive, and even a cadre has to listen to the call of a small soldier, so he will naturally be angry in his heart and will not accept it......

What can you do if you have gas? What can you do if you don't accept it!

Learn to win the battle...... If you win the battle, you will be as ashamed as they are, and you will be able to call others!

Even this ethos can affect other areas or develop to extremes...... For example, food and supplies, the troops who have won the battle do not have to run at all, and people will send you all kinds of good things, and the troops who have lost the battle will be miserable. Even if you go to get a few nylon bags or two-foot nails for repairing fortifications, you may have to say good things and go to the relationship.

Therefore, things on the battlefield often cannot be understood with the kind of thinking in the peaceful shijie...... These are two different shijie, two environments. It may be true in this shijie, but it is wrong in that shijie, and vice versa.

We are fortunate to be a victorious army from the very beginning, and most of the time we speak with our heads held high with our chests held high, so naturally we do not understand the depression and hardship of the troops who have lost the battle...... But then again, I think that even the troops that have lost the battle should be given the recognition and respect they deserve, after all, people have fought with their lives, and there is a reason for losing the war...... For example, in many cases, it is not the fault of the soldiers to defeat a battle, but a problem of command or equipment, and so on.

But...... The battlefield is a place of reality: defeat is defeat, victory is victory, and it is useless to put forward any reason.

Moreover, the atmosphere is not something that I can say alone, and it will take a long process of hard work to change, not to mention that this kind of atmosphere is conducive to the benign development of the battlefield in some aspects, so the superiors just turned a blind eye to this and did not think about changing it.

This time, of course, our route back did not need to go around a big circle from Aidian, but directly followed the road between the 481 and 544 heights to return home......

There's something special about this stretch of road...... What is special is that we know that from the moment the counterattack against Vietnam ended, it should have started before to be exact...... Our army has always wanted to incorporate this road into the territory of our army again, so the strength of several regiments took turns to fight here...... It is not known how many soldiers died on this road of less than ten kilometers, and it would not be an exaggeration to say that it was a road paved with blood and corpses.

Thankfully, it's finally back to us, and we're back to base on this road with all kinds of peace of mind as we are now......

But the word "peace of mind" may seem a bit inappropriate here, for a simple reason...... The battle had just ended, and no one could guarantee whether there were still a few Vietnamese firepower points hidden in the high ground on both sides, or a few mines occasionally popping up or something.

But we don't need to worry about all this, there are soldiers of the 73rd Army escorting them all the way...... In front is a platoon of motorized infantry to reconnoiter for us, and in the back is a tank company and an infantry company to cover us at any time...... It's a battle we've never faced before.

Later, I learned that this was an order personally given by Commander Huang, and his original words to the commander of the 217th Division were like this: "The fifth battalion has solved such a big problem for us regardless of its own sacrifice, and now that the battle is over, if the fifth battalion has any unexpected casualties, I want you to pay with your life!" ”

The division commander was right when he thought about it...... This Banwang was supposed to be fought by our troops, if we want to fight...... I don't know how many lives we have to pile up to take it down! The battle of the 5th Battalion virtually saved the lives of many people in our troops, so it is also appropriate to protect the safe return of people now, so another order was transmitted to the regimental headquarters on the front line...... Where did the regimental headquarters dare to slack off, not to mention that they also knew in their hearts who should be credited with the greatest credit for this battle, so they immediately organized troops to be responsible for the security of the fifth battalion.

Actually...... I don't think these are necessary at all.

What kind of motorcycle unit reconnaissance tank company cover...... If this really starts a war, I don't know who will protect whom! You must know that our troops not only have 59 tanks, but also armored vehicles and even T62......

Needless to say, this equipment, of course, was the capture of six T62s and more than thirty armored vehicles in the warehouses of Tongmian...... These things are good stuff, and of course we won't leave them there for the 73rd Army...... But then again, the 73rd Army is embarrassed to ask for it, we are all fighting for it with our lives!

It wouldn't be too difficult to drive the equipment back, just let the auto crew drive the armored car, and that thing would drive like a car, or even better than a car...... The reason is that there are many horsepower wheels, and a small thing is equipped with eight wheels...... So it's not a problem for the car to get through the pit.

As for the T62 tank...... It is not that the tank crew and the deputy gunner will load the door and hand the shells, but everyone must be able to drive the tank, because if the driver is injured, then no one will be in trouble to start the tank.

And this thing in 59...... It must be driven by wheels, the reason is that there is still no hydraulic power assist device in 59 at this time, and the joystick has dozens of pounds of tension, and no one can stand it for a few hours, so it is usually driven by several people on the road.

This comes in handy, transfer the artillery or sub-artillery to open this T62, plus we are copying the T54 in 59, and the same Soviet-style tank is about the same...... Of course, it is still difficult to drive the T62 to the battlefield at this time, because we don't understand the fire control system or instrument operation or anything, which is why we didn't send the T62 to the battlefield during the Tongmian tank battle...... The capture of a new piece of equipment, especially something like a tank, which requires several soldiers to work together, does not mean that it can be used immediately after capture, but must have a process of adaptation, familiarization, and learning.

But it was not so difficult to drive it back, Huang Jianfu took a few people up to study it a little and try it out, and soon it was as easy as playing with a remote control car.

So this time our army was so majestic, all the cars that came were generously thrown to the soldiers of the 73rd Army, except for a few bulldozers and cranes of the sappers, all of them rode tanks and armored vehicles......
