Chapter Ninety-One: Tywin's Story
Half an hour had passed since the conversation between the two of them.
William couldn't help but ask what he had been wondering about.
"Professor, why did Tywin pretend to be a Death Eater if he was trying to save James Potter?"
"No, William, Tywin wasn't trying to save Jaime, he was really trying to save Voldemort, and he was a real Death Eater."
"But doesn't he have a special affection for Jaime? In those memories......"
"People change, William, and when Jaime and Lily are together, Tywin changes." Dumbledore's eyes sharpened.
"Remember that memory, Tywin once wanted to cast a curse on Lily, just because she was dating Jaime."
"Yes."
"That's just the beginning, love can sometimes make a person crazy and become less like themselves." Dumbledore said with great experience.
"Come on, this memory is something I've been looking for a long time to find."
Dumbledore stirred the meditation basin, and the two entered a memory again.
A peculiar picture emerges.
William's pupils narrowed in fright. What the hell is this?!
Blurry and dark, a man appeared. Dressed in a black robe, his blonde hair was dirty, and his face was fearful.
A group of black-hooded men surrounded him, their wands aimed at his head.
"Don't kill me! I'm here to find the Dark Lord!! The man fell to his knees and raised his wand.
"Oh, come to me, did Dumbledore ask you to give me a message, Tywin?"
A figure appeared, but it was indistinct, for the source of the memory lowered its head in fear.
"I have important information about the location of the members of the Order of the Phoenix...... Can lead the way......"
"Hey, do you know whose location?" The low, hoarse voice sounded again.
"Several, Lily Potter, Frank Longbottom, and Alice Longbottom......"
"Not bad." The man smiled lazily, "The Longbottoms have escaped from me once, and Lily Potter has escaped twice.
I remember these are all your classmates, right? Whatever you want, merciful Lord Voldemort, will reward you. ”
"I ...... I want to be ...... Death Eaters! ”
Soon, the picture changes and new memories appear.
A square hut with dim lighting. The black marble floor looks striking. A low wooden altar enclosed in a shrine with pillars on three sides, on which candlelight flickered.
A figure appeared, a tall man with blonde hair that looked familiar, it was Tywin in his twenties.
At this time, he was no longer the extremely ordinary Tywin, but became confident, handsome, and had a smile on his face.
Soon, there were more people, and the figures of four wizards were revealed, all of whom were observing the newcomers who had taken the oath to join.
Judging by the way they dressed, they were all Death Eaters. The dimly lit lights and hoods made William unrecognizable of their faces.
"Death Eaters." A low, hoarse voice suddenly sounded, and a figure appeared on the altar.
"In the name of the great Voldemort, I open this assembly house for new servants!"
As soon as the words fell, there was a rapid sound of mallets.
William stared at the scene in front of him in surprise.
The rituals of the Death Eaters were kept secret in various books, and he finally saw them with his own eyes today.
The whole ceremony was carried out in an orderly manner, and the surrounding scene was like a cult, only to see a sparkling wand reaching the bare chest of the oath-taker...... This meant that if the oath-taker "betrayed Voldemort", he would be punished by magic piercing the heart.
Tywin knelt at Voldemort's feet...... Swore "eternal loyalty to the master...... If they betray, they will be punished, disemboweled, their hearts taken alive, and they will be thrown to the ground for trampling on.
Voldemort bent down, grabbed Tywin's left arm, and pulled his sleeve up to his elbow, his wand lightly tapped.
Tywin had a pained expression, but psychological satisfaction quickly suppressed the pain, and a flush of excitement appeared on his face.
It didn't take long for something to appear on Tywin's skin, a bright red tattoo, and a skeleton spitting a snake out of its mouth.
- Mark of the Dark Magic.
At the end of the ceremony, Tywin fell to his knees, crawled up to Voldemort, and kissed the hem of his black robe.
"The host...... Master......" Tywin whispered.
The same was true of the Death Eaters who witnessed the Death Eaters, each of whom crawled to Voldemort's side on their knees, kissed his robes, and then stepped aside, stood up, and silently formed a circle.
"Let's go, William." Dumbledore said.
The two returned to the office again.
It was a moment before Dumbledore spoke.
"During his time at Hogwarts as a child, Voldemort gathered a group of obedient who were desperate.
I say this because there is no better word to describe it, he has no affection for them. These men form a dark force in the castle, a complex mix of weak people seeking refuge, careerists seeking some prestige, and cruel by nature, attracted to a leader who can teach them a higher form of cruelty.
In other words, they were the predecessors of the Death Eaters. Some actually became the first Death Eaters after leaving Hogwarts. ”
And the young Voldemort, in order to win people's hearts and show his specialness, designed this ritual at the suggestion of this group of people.
Most of the true core Death Eaters undergo this ritual, indicating that they are Voldemort's servants from then on. ”
William pondered for a moment and asked, "Professor, where did this memory come from?" ”
"Rodolphus Lestrange, he and his wife Bellatrix, are Voldemort's number one Death Eater leader, and his extremely avid followers, so the authenticity of the memories is reliable." Dumbledore said.
"So why did Tywin join the Death Eaters?"
"William, I can only guess." Dumbledore crossed his hands, "The human heart is changeable, and Tywin has always had a special affection for Jaime, and with the marriage of Jaime and Lily, that feeling turned into hatred.
This hatred drove him to leak Lily's news to Voldemort so that he could kill her. ”
"Did the Potters die at that time?"
"It's not." Dumbledore shook his head, "Lily escaped that attack, and that was the third time she escaped Voldemort's pursuit.
After that time, though, I suspected betrayal on our side, and suggested that Potter and Longbottom go into hiding. ”
"But at that time, Voldemort had to find the Potters for some reason."
"Tywin was a childhood friend of James, and he was the one who went to investigate in the shadows, but before he could make a difference, Voldemort found Jaime and Lily through someone else."
"Sirius Black?"
"Well, Sirius." Dumbledore repeated it in a sad, incomprehensible, complex tone.
"Tywin didn't play a role, Voldemort fell, and there weren't many people who witnessed him become a Death Eater, he didn't come out and hid until now."
"And what does he hate about Professor Snape?" William asked.
He remembered that Tywin had told him in the school hospital that Snape was a despicable traitor who killed Jaime and the Dark Lord.
"William, I can't go into too much detail with you, except to tell you that Voldemort made up his mind to kill the Potters because of some piece of information that Snape accidentally leaked.
As a result, Voldemort died, and Tywin hated him because Snape had deceived Voldemort into killing him. ”
