Chapter 101: The Battle of Mount Faka (6)
The first thing I did after taking command of Mount Fakka was to withdraw a large number of fighters...... This large group consisted of fighters from two platoon secret service companies, plus two platoons and two battalions of fighters.
To put it simply, it is to arrange a platoon of agent companies in position No. 3, and two squads in positions 4 and 5 respectively...... This is exactly the same as the number of troops deployed by the Vietnamese army at Phaka Mountain.
I'm not saying that I should follow the deployment of the Yue Devil's forces...... It's the constraints of the conditions, and the positions 3, 4, and 5 are so big...... There are only so many people who can accommodate it, we used to attack and charge, and now we still have so many troops on it...... The Vietnamese army came under heavy artillery fire, and I was afraid that this casualty would be inevitable.
Therefore, it is wise to defend the hilltop position with only a small number of troops, and build tunnel fortifications on the anticline, at the foot of the hill or behind the hill to prepare reinforcements......
This is also the so-called "refueling tactic", one person is killed or injured in the hilltop position, and we will add one person in the rear...... So it seems that there will always be so many troops on the hilltop position.
Although this tactic is old-fashioned, it is a very practical tactic in today's world when both sides have powerful artillery!
Then the sappers carried the prefabricated cement to the Farka Mountain...... These prefabricated cement parts are, of course, cement blocks that we have prepared in the morning and poured with reinforced concrete. Some of these blocks were used for supporting the top of the tunnel, while others were used to build bunkers or fortify trenches...... The benefits of this are obvious, and it can save a lot of time in building a position.
That's important to us...... Because only when a complete fortification is built on Mount Fakka will it be possible for us to hold on to it for a long time.
After the last move, I transferred another batch of snipers into position...... These snipers were mainly deployed in the No. 4 and No. 5 positions......
I found out about the shelling of the Vietnamese army before. Most of the artillery from the Vietnamese army was blocked by the slightly higher No. 3 position...... So positions 4 and 5 are not conducive to defense. But it's a great place for snipers to lurk...... There is almost no need to worry about being hit by the indiscriminate artillery of the Vietnamese army. That's what snipers are most afraid of...... No matter how good the lurking is, sometimes it is useless, the enemy doesn't care whether there is anyone here, just cover it with artillery fire over and over again, if the sniper is lurking in such a position...... That can be said to be a sacrifice that was unjustly sacrificed.
Here's what I envision:
It is unlikely that the Vietnamese army will attack from behind our troops by helicopter rappel like we did......
First, even if the Vietnamese army now realizes the importance of helicopters on the battlefield, they do not have the time and conditions to immediately train a group of fighters who can paralyze and coordinate with each other.
Let's do it...... You must know that the Phaka Mountain is easy to attack on the side facing Vietnam, but difficult to attack on the side facing our army...... If the Vietnamese army surrenders to the rear of our army to attack, it will be fed and supported...... So hard, at such great risk, to run to this difficult place in the rear of our army to attack!
So there should be only one way for the Vietnamese army...... That's like we used to fight against the Yue devils before...... The Vietnamese army will take advantage of the high quality and familiarity with the terrain and choose to attack our troops at night.
Especially on the evening of the first few days...... You must know that the night of the past few days was when our army's fortifications had not yet been built, and our army had to build fortifications during the day. At night, I have to keep my eyes wide and watch out for enemy attacks...... This can quickly turn into exhaustion.
That's what I said to Master Liang...... The hardest part is the first few days, especially the night!
After a few days...... With the gradual completion of fortifications and the improvement of mines, barbed wire and other defensive facilities, it is becoming more and more difficult for the Vietnamese army to sneak attack at night, and we are getting safer and safer!
So...... This is where the snipers in positions 4 and 5 become very necessary...... Their task was to aim at position 3, where everything could be enemy targets......
Everything that is said here may be the target of the enemy...... Refers to a wriggling black shadow, or a place that makes a little sound...... If these targets are allowed to be fought by ordinary soldiers, they may not only miss the target, but also expose themselves. But it's not the same for snipers...... They have warriors who have been specially trained in this area, especially the Audible Voice......
The ability of the sniper company to listen to the position is from Chen Yiyi...... She's a master at tracking, and one of the key points of tracking is to judge the location of the target based on the sound. So it is normal for Chen Yiyi to have this hand.
It's just that this makes the fighters of the sniper company miserable...... They don't know how many days and nights they have been lying in the night, just to be able to hit the target where the sound came from...... Chen Yiyi's training method is like this. Raise a dozen targets in the dark...... Underneath these targets were a bell tied to which a rope was tied, and the other end of the rope was in the hands of another warrior...... As soon as the warrior pulls the rope, a bell rings...... At this time, the trained fighter must be able to hit this target to be qualified!
This skill is not used under normal circumstances...... But when fighting at night, especially when dealing with tactics such as enemy holes, it can be very useful.
Because considering that the Vietnamese army is good at it, or the Vietnamese army also likes to fight night battles with our army...... This kind of training is necessary.
The battle turned out exactly as I thought it would...... During the day, the Vietnamese army did not immediately launch a counterattack on Phaka Mountain, and they knew that rushing up at this time was tantamount to sending them to death...... We don't even need to exert strength at all for the daytime defense, we just need the artillery observers to report the coordinates and then smash them down with artillery fire...... Our artillery is stronger than the Vietnamese army, so it's not a fool not to make full use of this!
But this does not mean that the Vietnamese army has done nothing...... From time to time, the shells smashed into the Farka Mountains, and sometimes hit the logistics supply lines...... Fortunately, we have been prepared for this for a long time, and the sappers who transported the supplies and prefabricated parts also have the quality to dodge the artillery, and as soon as they heard the whistling sound of the shells, they immediately lay down and covered them with prefabricated parts, so there were not many casualties!
It's just that the shells don't have long eyes...... Under such indiscriminate bombardment by the Vietnamese army, we still had five sappers who were hit by two shells and died on the road to deliver supplies!
"Thirty-six casualties!" Zhao Jingping reminded beside him.
In the early morning battle, our troops suffered a total of 31 casualties, plus several sappers who were killed and wounded at this time...... Although there is still a distance from the two hundred people restricted by the superiors, this is only the first day! (To be continued......)
