Chapter 51: Conclusion
"Can I do that too? Protect your family and chase away the monsters as you do. β
The little girl's answer surprised Keisha, who looked at the arrow in her hand and shook her head, "This won't work. β
The girl seemed to be hit and fell silent, and Keisha quickly changed the subject: "What year is it now?" β
"A.D. 982." The little girl answered honestly.
982 A.D....... This is the Noxian calendar...... I didn't expect it to be three years since I fell into the ground.
Kane, who was hiding behind the stone pillar, also knew that he and Keisha were not twelve years old, but thirteen years old.
There was silence.
Keisha really didn't look for a topic, because she knew nothing but the void was a monster, and she didn't know what to say to the little girl.
She saw a sudden commotion in the crowd not far away, and knew she was running out of time.
"Do you want to kill monsters? Want to destroy monsters? Keisha asked.
The little girl nodded.
"Then starve it!" Keisha said.
The girl was a few years younger than Keisha, and although Keisha knew that the little girl didn't understand what monster they were facing, she still admired her courage.
So Keisha has a showdown, and she wants to convey a message through the mouth of the little girl.
"Listen, you're going to go back and tell them. Let them know that no more dancing under the crescent moon. Don't tie the animals to the stakes anymore. The Void doesn't know what it means to be mercifulβit dies if it doesn't eat. β
The pinprick in the flesh was stronger, as if in response to her words.
The people of the settlement searched for it, and the little girl cried out without warning Keisha: "Daddy! Here I am, with an older sister. β
Then the people looked over, weapons and torches in their hands, and the light of the fire pierced through the darkness.
Still exposed, but Keisha didn't run away, because Kane also stepped forward and was by her side.
The girl's father saw two terrifying monsters standing beside her, and his face was terrified.
He did not dare to rush over, shouting as he put the arrow on the bow: "Give me back!" Away from those ...... Monsters stay away! β
"Girl, go to your father and tell him what my sister just told you."
Kane approached the girl, and her father immediately pulled the bowstring with trembling hands, pleading, "Run! Please! β
The little girl had never seen her father so scared, and she panicked.
"Let's go." She was pushed by Keisha and walked a few steps, then suddenly turned around and came back to her and asked, "Sister, I don't know what your name is?" β
"Keisha." Keisha answered her without much thought, and now she just wanted the little girl to leave quickly.
As the little girl continued to approach her father, she heard a movement, and when she turned her head again, there were no two of them behind her.
The chief came over and hugged the girl, tears of horror glistening in the corners of his eyes. No one hurt her, and she didn't know why her father was crying.
"Don't come any closer here, monsters will eat people." The girl's head was pressed against her broad shoulders, and her father gasped nervously.
"But Sister Keisha said they were protecting us, and told us not to sacrifice anymore." She looked up, her voice piercing through the cacophony of human voices.
"Ridiculous, only sacrifice can be exchanged for peace!" An arrogant voice interjected into the conversation between father and daughter, and the missionary was furious at the girl's childish claims.
"How can you believe what the monster says? If the sacrifice did not bring peace, they must have caused it! β
β¦β¦
The smell of blood permeated the tunnels, and Kane hadn't counted how many sheep and livestock he had slaughtered.
But in order to prevent these sheep and cattle from running around and becoming hunters, he had to stay under the hole in the ground and kill them all.
When Keisha returned from the hunt, she saw a field of sheep carcasses and asked what had happened.
"Those people didn't listen, they kept stuffing sheep into the sheepfold, and even took the initiative to push the sheep into the tunnel." Kane explained the seriousness of the problem to Kesha: "Now they have blocked the entrance to the tunnel again, and the smell of blood cannot be dispersed, and it has begun to spread underground. β
"Why are you blocking the exit to guard us off?" Keisha felt incomprehensible, if it weren't for her painstaking delivery of information, how would these people know that they were in danger.
"Hmm."
Keisha returned her gaze to the corpses: "Find a way to clean these corpses out, such a strong smell of blood will cause a beast tide." β
"I'm afraid it's too late." Kane replied helplessly.
Something had happened in the abyss, and he sensed it immediately.
Countless monsters were forming, claws dragging their wet husks out of the abyss, rushing towards the place in droves with an unappeaseable urge to kill.
"No......" Keisha murmured in disbelief until her skin armor sensed it, responding to the call of the void creatures.
She made her decision on the spot, turned and walked away into the darkness.
"Where are you going?!" Kane asked.
"I'm going to lure them away! Hurry up and get the body out! β
"Lead?" Kane felt that Kesha's hasty decision was unrealistic, this time the beast tide was bigger than any before, and it was obviously impossible to exterminate them by fighting guerrilla warfare.
"Keisha is not here, so let's take this opportunity to make a decision, so that people can see the real horror, so that they will be willing to leave."
Having made up his mind, Kane crawled to the surface and vigorously pushed open the rock that sealed the entrance to the tunnel.
The guards spotted him immediately, and several sharpened spears were all aimed at Kane, as if he were facing a great enemy.
"Monster, go back! You are not welcome on earth! β
Such a weak enemy, unable to even provoke the stinging warning of the Void Skin Armor, it sent a feeling of hunger and wanted to eat them.
Kane also felt the urge to eat, and he realized that Skinarmor had been trying to usurp power, so he slammed his claws on the nearby rock pillar, suppressing the desire to kill.
The support point at the base of the pillar was punched by his blow, and it looked crumbling, and the guards looked at Kane differently.
Not only was the horror even worse, but even the fighting spirit was lost.
"The real monsters are coming, and they won't listen to you."
In the face of several adults, Kane was not stressed at all.
He sniffed the air at the smell of fear, which would have drawn to the void creatures.
"Let's go, it's too late to go back and pack your bags." He said.
Several of the guards looked at each other with trepidation on their faces, but they did not flinch, still holding their spears at Kane, even in the latter's eyes, which was not a deterrent at all.
Their mission is to keep monsters at bay, and for the sake of the settlement, they can't just leave their posts without permission!
If he could, Kane really didn't want to fight these humans, he really didn't know how much force he had to put in to make them feel pain and not be killed.
It's not kindness, it's just that it's not worth it to be written down in a small book by Keisha because of it.
Suddenly it occurred to him that there seemed to be a way not to use force.
