Chapter 740: Chinese Missiles (Part II)
PS: Thank you for the reward of "My feelings after reading this book", and continue to ask for recommendation votes T-T
Today, China's anti-ship missiles are mainly developed to deal with large warships, and even battleships must be able to sink them, but this almost stumped the researchers. Because for such a target with strong armor and large size, it is not too effective to use (semi-)armor-piercing warheads or armor-piercing warheads.
Among them, the former lacked sufficient kinetic energy because of insufficient speed (Jishu in this period could not build an anti-ship missile capable of flying at supersonic speed), plus the main armor belt that protected all the vital parts of the battleship on the side chord was extremely thick, and there was no possibility of penetration, and it was impossible to sink it by hitting the superstructure; Although the shaped warhead has enough penetration, because of its special mechanism, it is like using an embroidery needle to pierce an elephant against a large battleship, although it can penetrate the protection, it will not have a substantial effect.
Just when everyone was helpless, a young designer suddenly thought whimsically, "Weishenme must fly across the sea?" Although it is easier to avoid radar reconnaissance in ultra-low-altitude flight, the air resistance is smaller when flying at high altitude, so the speed is faster, which can also increase the difficulty of enemy interception, and after discovering the target, it is necessary to rush down from a high altitude, and can obtain additional kinetic energy brought by the potential energy at a height of several thousand meters, and it is possible to reach Mach 2 or even faster at the end speed, so that even if the semi-armor-piercing warhead is used, it will obtain a considerable depth of penetration. And when attacking from the upper Xiangxia, it was a much thinner horizontal armor, which should not be difficult to penetrate. In this way, the missile can penetrate into the enemy ship and explode, and no warship can withstand it."
Everyone thought it was very reasonable, but because the design plan of the sea-skimming anti-ship missile was personally finalized by Hu Weidong, the immediate superior, the person in charge of the project team cautiously made a special report to him. Hu Weidong's eyes lit up when he heard this, and he thought, "Isn't this the design idea of the Maozi granite missile in history?" Historically, the Germans engaged in gliding bombs are also this idea, and this design is indeed the most haode to deal with large warships, indeed, the more advanced the weapon, the better, and meeting the needs is the most important. The task in the past two years has been too heavy. In order to speed up the development process, I only cared about the experience of future generations, and I actually forgot this basic principle. This kid has a future, and sure enough, this new thing is being studied. Or rely more on young people! Since then, I've been too obsessed with the experience of the afterlife. Sometimes it's not necessarily right. It seems that they should be given more freedom."
It is also worth mentioning that since the current air defense capabilities of the fleets of Shijie countries, especially the interception capabilities of supersonic targets, are far from being comparable with later generations, the size of anti-ship missiles can be made larger to increase the power as much as possible. The total weight of the Seahawk-1 heavy anti-ship missile in the design is close to 10 tons, which even exceeds the concrete destruction bomb for the German Gustav cannon and the British "goblet bomb", and it also uses tungsten alloy penetration warhead that only China can afford, coupled with the terrifying kinetic energy brought by the dive from a height of more than 6,000 meters, its penetration ability can be imagined
According to the estimation of Jishu personnel, the main aircraft carrier models currently in service in Shijie basically only need one to be sunk, provided that they hit the main part rather than a corner position such as drifting; Even a battleship can be done with a few more. The only regret is that it is too large to be mounted by aircraft and difficult to equip on small and medium-sized ships, which can only be installed by Changsha-class destroyers, and the rest can only be used as shore-to-ship missiles. However, the huge size of the Seahawk-1 heavy anti-ship missile also gives it a terrifying range of more than 300 kilometers, which is basically enough for a defensive navy like the Chinese Navy.
However, Hu Weidong still demanded that the original research route of anti-ship missiles must continue to be adhered to, so that airplanes and small and medium-sized warships can also have light anti-ship missiles available, and he knew very well in his heart that when battleships withdrew from the stage of history, those small and exquisite sea-skimming anti-ship cruise missiles would be the mainstream
In addition to anti-ship missiles, China has other projects such as anti-tank missiles and anti-aircraft missiles under study, but because of the relatively low cost-effectiveness ratio (today's aircraft and tanks are not very valuable, and missiles are very expensive). China's science and technology is very weak, and there is not much spare power, so the degree of attention is relatively small. However, Hu Weidong, who was well aware of its value, still decided that as long as the "911 Project" was completed, he would immediately upgrade the level of those projects, especially the only air defense missile that could deal with the old US ultra-high-altitude reconnaissance planes in the future
In addition to missiles and guided torpedoes, the family of guided weapons also includes guided bombs and guided artillery shells and other unpowered guided weapons, among which the guided bomb was developed by Germany in the late stage of World War II and used it to sink the battleship Roma of the Italian Navy. It's just that because the total number of scientific research personnel in China is seriously insufficient, these projects can only be studied on core projects such as missiles, and the progress is naturally not much faster, but this is also something that cannot be helped.
Despite this, the laser-guided jishu that started research before all countries (other countries don't even have lasers yet) still made Hu Weidong can't help but think about it
Although great progress has been made in the fields of rockets, guidance jishu, and electronic computers, the core of the "911" project has always been nuclear weapons. Hu Weidong knows very well that because China's conventional military strength is not strong enough, it is not enough to deter the three giants of the United States, the Soviet Union and Germany by simply developing an atomic bomb, and that a hydrogen bomb is a must, but if the atomic bomb is not developed, without this "trigger", the hydrogen bomb will only be a flash in the pan.
Therefore, the first key to the "911 Project" is to build the atomic bomb first, and there are two main types of "nuclear explosives" of the atomic bomb, one is the uranium isotope uranium-235 obtained from repeated purification and separation of natural uranium, and the other is plutonium-239 converted by uranium-238 absorption neutrons in the reactor. This led to the so-called uranium route and plutonium route in the development of the atomic bomb, and in Hu Weidong's view, these two routes have their own difficulties and pros and cons
Before comparing the advantages and disadvantages of uranium bombs and plutonium bombs, we must first mention the configuration of the atomic bomb, there are also two design ideas, namely the "implosion method" and the "shooting method", the former has a much higher utilization rate of nuclear fuel than the latter, and the atomic bomb used as the "trigger" of the hydrogen bomb can only be designed using the "implosion method", so there is no doubt about Hu Weidong's choice, although he knows that the "marksmanship" is much less difficult than the "implosion method" (to be continued......
