Chapter 530: Oscar Submarine Dispatch

After World War II, the task of the Soviet Navy was to confront the United States at sea, but unfortunately several leaders did not have the vision of the Navy, blindly attached importance to missiles, and believed that aircraft carriers were useless, so the Soviet Navy had to find another way.

With anti-ship missiles, there must also be carriers, right?

Therefore, there are all kinds of surface ships, which are used to load all kinds of powerful anti-ship missiles, and there are also bombers of the Air Force, such as the Tu-22M, such as the Tu-95 and Tu-160, which are all sharp weapons for carrying anti-ship missiles.

Of course, there was also a lack of replenishment of underwater nuclear submarines, which were used to launch anti-ship missiles, a first for the Soviet Navy.

In that year, after the Soviet Union developed the first generation of Type 627 attack nuclear submarines, it further developed nuclear submarines in three directions: one was to develop Type 671 attack nuclear submarines, the other was to develop Type 658 strategic nuclear submarines, and the third was to develop Type 659 cruise missile nuclear submarines.

This third type is specially designed to launch cruise missiles.

However, due to the P/П-5 anti-ship cruise missiles loaded with the Type 659 cruise missile nuclear submarines, the "Shaduk" SS-N-3 anti-ship missiles called by NATO, and its successor models can only hit fixed targets on land, not mobile targets at sea, in order to counter the threat of US attack aircraft carriers, the Soviet Union further developed the Type 655 nuclear submarine on the basis of the Type 675.

Project 675 cruise missile nuclear submarines are used to attack surface and land targets. Because of the difference in missiles alone, this class of boats and Type 659 cruise missile nuclear submarines are collectively referred to by NATO as the Echo class, of which Type 659 is E-1 and Type 675 is E-2.

The emergence of this cruise missile submarine has solved the problem of hitting aircraft carriers, but there are still some chicken ribs, for example, due to the technical limitations at that time, this type of missile still needs to be launched in a completely surface state, and it must take about 20 minutes to launch all missiles.

What are the advantages of submarines? Of course, it is the concealment under water, but it turns out that this cargo has to be launched on the water, and the actual use is similar to seeking death.

At the same time, the noise of such first-generation submarines is also quite high, and it simply cannot meet the needs of a real confrontation with the US Navy aircraft carrier formations, and it will be detected from afar, and then it will attract an attack by anti-submarine aircraft.

So, the USSR developed a new generation of submarines, the Type 949 Oscar class.

It was developed and designed by the Soviet Ruby Design Bureau in 1969 and built by the Severodvinsk shipyard, and this year, the first one has just been built, and it is definitely the most hidden force of the Soviet Union.

Its first feature is that it is big! Most of the current nuclear submarines are six or seven thousand tons, and the underwater displacement of the Type 949 cruise missile nuclear submarine has reached 18,300 tons, which is roughly the same as the 18,700 tons of the Ohio-class strategic nuclear submarine of the United States, and it is definitely a huge underwater monster.

In addition to the use of a double-hull structure, the reason why it is so large is to be able to carry its anti-aircraft carrier weapon, the 3M-45 "Granite" anti-ship missile system.

These missiles are arranged between the pressure-resistant shells and non-pressure-resistant shells on both sides of the command station in the middle of the boat, with 6 rectangular covers on each side, about 7 meters long and 2 meters wide, and 2 missile launchers under each rectangular cover, arranged at a 45-degree oblique angle with the perpendicular line, carrying a total of 24 3M-45 "Granite" anti-ship missiles.

Because the missile is so big, the hull must also be so large, otherwise it will not fit at all, this is still arranged obliquely, if it is arranged vertically, the displacement may soar to more than 50,000 tons.

This 3M-45 "Granite" anti-ship missile is a medium- and long-range supersonic sea-skimming flight multipurpose missile with a range of 20 to 650 km and can be launched from under water with a warhead of 750 kg of conventional explosives or 500 kilotons of TNT-equivalent nuclear charge. It has a strong penetration capability and can carry out saturation attacks on large surface ships such as aircraft carriers.

In addition to its great power, the quietness of this submarine is also quite excellent, for example, it is equipped with a nuclear reactor that can realize the natural circulation of the steam generator at 30% of the coolant power, and does not need to connect to the centrifugal cooling pump of the primary circuit, and this pump is the "big noise" during the normal circulation of the reactor, and it is also the main noise source of the nuclear submarine, so the natural cycle is often used when navigating with low noise.

Secondly, the important machinery and equipment in the boat are all used in the combined structure noise reduction, the mechanical device and the unit use double-layer shock absorption, the installation of floating raft type integral vibration damping base, the pipeline installation also takes shock absorption measures, the propeller is changed to a 7-blade large side oblique propeller, and the outer surface of the boat body is also laid with a sound insulation and sound absorption role of the sound reduction tile.

In short, this cruise missile submarine is the crystallization of the latest Soviet technology, and it is a big killer prepared to attack American aircraft carriers, and now, it will be used by the British Navy once!

The USSR has already suffered two losses in a row.

The bomber base was bombed, and the bombers who came over for a long time did not bomb the British warship, and now, the British have increased their chances of victory, and they must have a new plan!

As long as the Oscar-class submarine comes, it will definitely be able to wipe out the entire fleet!

It's just that the use of nuclear submarines is very important, not to mention how many days of sailing from the distant Soviet Union can come, just to say that the use of missiles to kill the entire British formation is already a crazy act, can Moscow agree?

Only now, when Andre told the two in front of him what he thought, they both thought it would be crazy to do this.

However, Andrei's opinion was quickly transmitted back to Moscow, and a dispute took place in the Kremlin.

General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev also attended the meeting, his face was ugly, in recent years, his health has been getting worse day by day, many major state events are just reported to him for a glance, he rarely participates in specific discussions, and only major events of great importance, he will participate.

For example, the operation in Hokkaido, such as the war in Afghanistan, he was personally involved.

Now, the situation in South America has suddenly become sinister, especially now that he has to come to this meeting in person.

"The whole world is watching our jokes, the whole Western world is laughing at us." "The British sent carrier-based aircraft, blew up our entire bomber regiment, and then, swaggering through the strait, joined up with their main fleet, and we were like clowns!" ”

He wears glasses and looks like Sven, but he has always been an aggressive lord in charge of the Red Empire's army.

Now that he has suffered two losses in a row, he is already completely irritated.

This is no longer a matter of Argentina and Britain, but of the USSR and Britain, and the British have gone too far and thought that they would not dare to use weapons of mass destruction?

"Your Excellency Minister of Defense, please note that we are preparing and conducting a war in Hokkaido, in Afghanistan, in two directions, are we going to have another war in South America?"

Gromyko and Ustinov had a good personal relationship, but now he was opposed, believing that it was not appropriate for his side to continue stirring up trouble in South America under his current circumstances.

As long as it is not publicized, this matter will pass, it is too far away, and the USSR never intended to put its hand there.

It can be said that if it succeeds, it gets an ally, and if it fails, then the Soviet Union has nothing to lose, and it is not enough to withstand the national fortunes of the entire Soviet Union.
