Chapter 334: Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation (I)

These 5,000 people are all urgently needed talents for the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation, but most historians in later generations believe that the most helpful to the Anti-Japanese Federation is the new commander of the Anti-Japanese Federation who went to the North Manchurian base area with him, that is, Xu Xiangqian, who previously served as the commander of the 37th Army of the 18th Group Army

After the plateau came to the northeast, it rejuvenated the anti-Japanese alliance, which was almost exhausted, in a short period of time, and seized the opportunity when the main force of the Kwantung Army was transferred to the customs to quickly expand the base area and the anti-union team. By the end of October 1938, the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation had 150,000 regular troops (including more than 50,000 field troops) and more than 500,000 militiamen (Note 1), covering eighty percent of North Manchuria and two percent of South Manchuria, with a population of more than 7 million, and more than 20,000 Japanese soldiers and more than 30,000 puppet soldiers were killed and captured within this year.

Since September of this year, the Japanese base camp began to frantically increase troops to the Kwantung Army, second only to the Central China Dispatch Army, so that the Kwantung Army soon had enough Liliang to protect the large and medium-sized cities and communication lines of the puppet Manchurians, and the railway transportation in the northeast was very developed, especially in the South Manchurian area where the Japanese army was stationed with heavy troops, and the South Manchurian column led by Yang Jingyu fell into unprecedented danger because of the crazy encirclement and suppression of more than 200,000 troops of the Kwantung ArmyIn just two or three months, almost all of the Changbai Mountain base areas, which had been built with great difficulty, were turned back into guerrilla areas, or even completely collapsed. The strength of the South Manchurian Column, which had grown to more than 30,000 people (including militia guerrillas), was rapidly reduced to about 10,000, and although most of the masses in the base areas were transferred in a timely manner with the help of local party organizations and militia guerrillas, 70,000 or 80,000 people still died under the butcher's knives of the Japanese invaders

The Japanese army, which hated Yang Jingyu and the South Manchurian column to the core, carried out a terrible extermination policy in the Changbai Mountain base area, as long as all the Chinese they saw in the process of encirclement and suppression were slaughtered without exception, and when the land was vacated and no one cultivated them, they emigrated from other places, and the Japanese were killed by the resistance alliance so that they did not dare to come, and the devils drove the Korean peasants over, even if they were killed by the Chinese, they did not care, and even rejoiced because the Korean population had been reduced. And because it was beneficial to Japan in either case, the Kwantung Army became more and more unscrupulous

Under normal circumstances, such an extreme approach is destined to outweigh the losses, because it will not only attract the condemnation of international public opinion, but also lead to desperate resistance from the people who were originally hoping for luck. At present, however, the Western powers generally adopted a policy of appeasement towards the Japanese army, and even when the Nanjing Massacre was made public, no country took measures against Japan, let alone these relatively shocking crimes because of the small scale of a single crime. As for the latter, it is indeed unfavorable from the overall situation, but on the premise that the strength of the Japanese army in South Manchuria exceeds that of Yang Jingyu's troops by ten times or even dozens of times. The devil's complete loss of humanity is difficult to crack. This is because when the Japanese army concentrated its forces on the "targeted killings" of the counties in the base areas, the number of troops dispatched each time was more than the total population of each county. Under such circumstances, it was difficult for the local anti-Japanese soldiers and civilians to repel the Japanese army no matter how much they resisted, but the South Manchurian column suffered heavy casualties again and again in order to cover the transfer of the villagers, and its strength became weaker and weaker. And if you give up covering the transfer of the masses, not to mention that it violates the purpose of the people's army, even if you really do it ruthlessly, after the masses are killed, what will the Anti-Japanese Federation rely on to gain a foothold in South Manchuria?

Faced with this almost insoluble predicament, the prince, who was only 15 years old but had become the chief staff officer of the South Manchurian Column Headquarters, came up with two solutions: First, he sent Kim Il-sung, the head and political commissar of the Korean detachment of the South Manchurian Column of the Anti-Japanese Union and chairman of the Korean "Fatherland Restoration Association," to lead the Korean officers and soldiers of the South Manchurian Column to return to China and establish a base area. On the one hand, it can lay out for the future counterattack on Korea, and on the other hand, it can also lead away a part of the Kwantung Army and reduce the huge pressure on the South Manchurian column at present.

The prince naturally knew that it would only be more difficult to establish an anti-Japanese base in Korea, which Japan had occupied for decades, than to persist in the War of Resistance in South Manchuria, and even the total annihilation of the army was not impossible, but as long as the main force of the South Manchurian column could get a chance to breathe, their sacrifice would be worth it, not to mention that the prince had not received political and ideological education long enough. After all, these more than 1,000 North Korean commanders and fighters were just outsiders, and even if they all died, it would be better than the Chinese compatriots in the South Manchurian column.

On the other hand, those North Korean comrades may not be unaware of the fact that they will die on this trip. But in order to recover the motherland, they did not hesitate. However, due to the sensational "Battle of Futenbao" (Note 2) last year, they had already become a thorn in the side of the devils, and not long after crossing the river, a large number of Japanese troops were encircled and suppressed, and the Kwantung Army soon sent troops across the river to support, and although the more than 1,000 Korean anti-Japanese officers and soldiers fought a hard battle, they were still outnumbered after all, except for a few soldiers who successfully broke through the siege, and all the rest died. But no matter what, the Kwantung Army was forced to withdraw two divisions and regiments to the south, which somewhat relieved the huge pressure faced by the main forces of some South Manchurian columns, and Wang Zicai's goal was still achieved

As for Wang Zicai's second method, it is actually similar to the first, except that the executor is not a North Korean, but a Chinese officer and soldier in the Anti-Japanese Union. Wang Zicai suggested that Yang Jingyu draw elite troops from the troops to form platoon-level and even squad-level squads to extensively infiltrate the occupied areas to fight devils and puppet Manchu military police, and lead back all the main forces of the Kwantung Army's encirclement and suppression base areas.

Note 1: There are more than 100,000 part-time militiamen, and because the land in the northeast is fertile and flat, even without tractors, the labor productivity of agriculture can be greatly improved by using horse farming, and because of the abundance of wild animals and plants, fishing and hunting can also provide a large part of the food source, so it can maintain a higher ratio of soldiers and civilians than in the Kannai.

Note 2: A total of 3 Japanese policemen, 2 North Korean policemen and 2 Japanese civilians were killed, and 1 light machine gun, 6 rifles, 2 pistols and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were seized, which was also the first time that the Korean anti-Japanese troops returned to China
