Chapter 310: The Iron Regiment
After hearing the sound of horses' hooves, the two immediately retreated into the cave.
Karn thought he might have figured out who had wrecked the boat.
Senna and Sarah all woke up, and the sentinels muttered a name, their faces grim.
"The Iron Regiment is here."
The sound of horses' hooves on the Isle of Shadows originates only from a terrifying group of undead, the Iron Regiment.
There were no horses on Fukuko Island, but when the curse broke out, Hekarim, the lieutenant who landed on the island with the king, killed the general Callista, who led his army to the island to seek medicine, and then led his Iron Knights to carry out a brutal massacre of the innocent inhabitants of the island, so when the curse broke out, they all degenerated into a terrifying mixture of men and mounts.
Now, they'll be running and patrolling the coast, impatiently waiting for the black fog to spread, stepping on the lands beyond the Isle of Shadows to slaughter the living.
Karn had heard the sound of horses' hooves from afar on his first landing, but there were only three of them, and the concealment of their armor kept them out of the Iron Regiment.
But now with Senna, you have to be prepared for the worst.
Karn extinguished his lantern and held his breath as he gazed out at the sand outside the cave.
The sound grew closer, louder and louder, and then, suddenly the fiery figures rushed into the cave.
Fearsome figures are at the forefront, perhaps Hecarim was once a knight, but now he has become a monster born for destruction, a slave to the Black Mist.
Behind him, there was a large group of stubborn ghost knights, their bodies glowing with pale green translucent fire, armed with spears and swords glowing with black gas, all pouring into the cave.
"Get back into the depths of the cavern!" Karn shouted.
The group of undead knights were all able to move out of the Black Mist, so the thin fog in the cave was not a reason to stop them from charging.
They are the unstoppable killing, the unquenchable anger, the nightmare that no one survives, and they will never stop killing those who can be killed without killing the light!
The couple knew very well the seriousness of the matter, and they immediately went deep into the darkness on the inside.
Hecarim raised a broad-bladed halberd with a hook, and a murderous blade burst out of green flames, charging at Karn, the outermost temple.
In front of her, Kai'Sa spun her ankle and turned back to fight back, and the pod was gaining momentum.
This would make her stop and not allow her to escape.
But after all, it was a tacit partnership that had been working together for many years, and she was picked up by Karn's waist, her hands pressed against his back, and her upper body leaned forward towards the cavalry, and her shoulder pod fired a barrage of missiles.
They work together seamlessly, like a moving turret, running and fighting, with a clear division of labor, and no pauses in their smooth movements.
Searing explosions rained down from the sky, missiles struck, caves collapsed, and the Revenant Knight was scattered in the flames.
But with a wave of the Hecarim halberd in the middle, the missile that fell on him was intercepted and exploded in the air, and the knight behind him seemed to be ordered to speed up to fill the vacant position.
Under the integration, the charging queue was reorganized, and Kaisha's round of firepower suppression seemed to have no effect.
And Senna in front of her was not well from her injuries, and she moved forward in the dark, and she didn't walk very fast, which directly slowed down Karn's speed.
As they rose and fell, the cavalry regiment was rapidly approaching them, the tip of the flaming blade closing in on them.
Barely able to escape, the reluctant Kai'Sa fired another round of missiles, but Hekarim had already approached her, slashing at her with a halberd taller than the two of them.
Karn leaped forward with a lunge, hugging Kai'Sa to dodge the sweep of the halberd, flames spewing from the tip of the blade above their heads.
She flicked her fist and spewed out billowing flames at Hecarim, who spun his halberd to block the purple flames that rushed in front of her, but the knight behind her was struck by the flames and turned into black smoke.
Hecarim seemed to realize that this was not his own hunting game, and he raised the flames in his free hand, and the pale blue flames forced Kaisha's purple flames back. At the same time, all the paths he trampled on were ignited by this flame, and the cavalry behind him was reborn in the flames.
Immediately afterward, Hekarim burst through the flames, and his halberd thrust forward, stabbing Karn in the back.
A crystal barrier spawns out of thin air, shattering when the blow is blocked. The devastation sent Karn to a stumbling stumble, nearly falling to the ground, and then trampled to death.
"If you can't go on like this, do you want to fight or run?" Sarah asked him as she opened fire, believing that if the five of them fought back with all their might, they should be able to suppress the Iron Regiment, and as she was now, Kai'Sa was the only one attacking with all her strength, and it was obvious that the firepower was insufficient.
Noticing that the walls of the cave were shrinking as they went deeper, Karn did not hesitate to keep running.
"After a little more run, it's still a bit open here, and it's not a place to fight back."
The two survived underground for several years, and the cave was the terrain they were most familiar with, and they knew what to do.
A few turns slowed down the Knights' charge, and Karn drove the crystal shield for a while, feeling that the width of the cavern had shrunk to a familiar point, and there was just a bend in front of him, which was a natural speed bump!
After passing around the corner, he pushed Kai'Sa out of the way, turned and slammed into Hecarim as he slowed down around the bend with the crystal shield.
The two huge forces collided together, and there was a loud and shocking sound.
Hecarim was stopped alive, and the knights behind him crashed into him unexpectedly, and suddenly the people flipped on their backs, and the chain reaction lay down, all piled up around the corner.
Karn was ploughed several meters away by the force, and the shield in front of him was torn apart, but he was able to hold on to the constant supply of energy.
Now the width of the cave can only be passed by one horse, as long as he holds it, it is a one-man affair.
The time for the counterattack began.
The muzzle of the gun shot out of the lightning that illuminated the cavern as bright as day, mixed with fiery missiles that pierced through the souls beneath the burning armor.
Even if it was as strong as Hecarim, it didn't last long under this dense fire cover before it was wiped out.
After his death, the cavalry behind him also routed one after another.
Karn hadn't forgotten that he was armed with four archers, and that he had only to build a wall of shields that no one could overcome.
As Karn pushed back with his shield, the fire began to cover the enemy's rear.
Kai'Sa shot a spiral missile through a whole group of cavalry, and Sarah and Senna fired their spears wildly, and all the souls of the dead melted away like shadows touching the bright light.
A perfect victory, but looking at the scorch marks and flames all over the ground, everyone knew it was just sending Hekarim and his men back to the furnace to rebuild.
If nothing else, the Iron Regiments will make a comeback during the Night of Soul Eclipse.
If you want to break this endless cycle of samsara, you can only try to solve the root of it all, the curse of ruin.
