Chapter Ninety-Four: Mission

After the problem of the partisan forces was solved...... Of course, this kind of problem cannot be solved all at once, just as the so-called "freezing three feet is not a day's cold," and the division of the guerrillas' forces did not take shape overnight, as it is now...... Although their leaders were in other units during the training, they often returned to their old subordinates when they were resting, which means that this influence could not be completely eradicated at once.

But I believe...... This kind of influence will certainly fade slowly with the deepening of the whole training work and the passage of time, and will eventually disappear completely.

The reason is simple...... It can be said that those tribes have no interest in the leaders now, and in the future training, I will gradually dilute the barriers between the tribes, so that they feel that the warriors of the entire Xijieo Valley are one family...... Only in this way can the contradictions and estrangements between ethnic groups be completely resolved.

While this work was progressing imperceptibly, I began to train the guerrillas at a deeper level......

As I know...... Most of the guerrillas were still good, able to endure hardships, fought bravely, and were familiar with the terrain...... These are their strengths, and these are areas that don't require our training at all.

But here's the problem...... Modern warfare increasingly requires knowledgeable and literate soldiers, and we have already experienced this on the battlefield in Vietnam......

On the surface, knowledge and culture seem to be of little use on the battlefield...... Isn't it just shooting at the target with a gun? If you play too much, you will naturally be able to hit accurately...... Is it possible that a literate soldier can fight more accurately than a veteran? If you have culture, this skin is even harder, and you don't even wear bullets?

This view may have been correct if it had been placed in the past...... It can even be said that previous wars emphasized bravery and the spirit of not being afraid of death...... As for being literate, you might be called a nerd!

But that's no longer the case...... This is due to the growing popularity of advanced weapons and equipment. Gone are the days when a single batch of pull-bolt rifles was enough to form a combat-ready force. More and more mortars, rocket launchers, anti-aircraft missiles, anti-tank missiles, etc., poured into the troops. In order to master these weapons and equipment, the necessary basic knowledge is indispensable.

But that's what the Afghan guerrillas lack......

On the battlefield in Vietnam, we thought that the cultural level of our Chinese soldiers was too low, but we did not expect that the Afghan guerrillas were even lower...... Many of them can't even write their names, which is good...... What's even more exaggerated is that some people don't even know how old they are.

For example, when we ask how old some of the partisans are...... He scratched his head and thought for a while before he dragged a man out and said, "You can ask him...... He was born in the same year as me! ”

It's not that they've forgotten their age, it's that they have trouble even adding one to a simple number......

This may be hard for us to imagine...... No matter how literate you are, a year plus a year old will be counted!

But the problem is that we live in an environment that is not Afghanistan...... If we have lived here since childhood. Every day, I am running around to survive, trying not to go hungry and to be able to survive...... It's not hard to see why they can't even do simple additions.

This undoubtedly gives us great difficulties...... When we train in China, although the Chinese soldiers do not have a high level of education, at least there is no difficulty in arithmetic, so we only need to strengthen them in a targeted manner, and then do some relevant training...... It was only a matter of time before the artillery observer could finally reach Cheng dΓΉ.

But it's really no problem to meet Afghan guerrillas......

I'm giving this task to Saheed's translators...... They are not so linguistically inferior to the Afghans, if only others...... For example, King Chuang is very strong in this area, but he can't impart knowledge because of the language barrier.

However, within two days, Saheide and several translators returned to me with a bitter face.

"Battalion commander!" Sahayd was embarrassed and said, "The task you gave us ...... We can't do it! ”

"What's the situation?" I asked.

At the same time, I know ...... I arranged this matter as a task, and if it weren't for the others, it would not work...... That's not going to come to me like that and throw in the towel. This is also a characteristic of Chinese soldiers, and there will always be the words "resolutely complete the task" in their minds!

"Battalion commander!" Wang Xianman interjected and said, "You...... Let's give us another task. Those guerrillas...... They...... I can't do addition, so how can we tell them about multiplication and trigonometry? You can't even teach addition. There was a lot of chaos during class...... I don't even have the heart to listen! ”

"Did you tell them that you can shoot more accurately if you learned this?"

"Why didn't you say it!" Saheid replied, "They were very happy to hear that they were taught how to shoot mortars...... Everyone said they wanted to learn! But here's the problem...... I showed them the process of observing a target...... This scared them out, and they couldn't believe that I could add, subtract, multiply, and divide so many numbers in such a short period of time, and there was basically no error......"

"Oh!" When I heard this, I almost understood that this would undoubtedly make the guerrillas treat us Chinese soldiers as gods, and the result would be that they could only look up but not believe that they could reach that height.

Sure enough, I then heard Saheed say: "Later, I asked them to test me with a few random numbers, and they did believe it...... But they all shook their heads, saying that it was too difficult for them and that it was impossible to do it! ”

In fact, there is some truth in what the guerrillas said...... It's not that they can't learn, but if we want them to learn, we need to spend too much time, too much effort, and the end result may not be ideal...... Because they do not have the necessary mathematical foundation, there is a high probability that the results of the calculations will be very incorrect.

So...... This is really embarrassing them, or rather, chasing ducks to the shelves!

So what to do?

Mortars, anti-aircraft missiles, armored vehicles, and the like...... These things can't always be carried by our Chinese soldiers, and we can't keep a few of us busy!

After thinking about it, I said, "That's ...... Aren't there a lot of guerrillas out there who are going to join the Higio Valley? From now on, knowledge and culture are preferred! This task is up to you! ”

"Yes!" Saheid responded very dryly: "Guarantee to complete the task!" (To be continued......)
