Chapter 151: Tank Battle (2)

PS: I wish you all book friends a happy Lantern Festival and Valentine's Day! These two festivals are put together, which means that you will take a lover home for the Lantern Festival...... But this may only be YY, at least not for soldiers...... Wow!

It would be a nightmare for a tank to have no infantry cover, especially if it was still in the dark of night.

Can a tank beat an infantryman?

The correct statement should be that under certain conditions, such as in the case of good visibility and wide field of vision, the infantry is far from the tank in terms of firepower, defense and mobility, that is, it is basically not a level.

However, there are certain conditions, such as now......

518.6 There was a company of trains on the high ground to cover us, which made the Vietnamese tankers dare not open the hatch and drill out to observe; In the dark of night, it was difficult to see the enemy infantry through the periscope; The headlights were on, and they would soon become targets for enemy tanks, anti-tank missiles, and rocket launchers; The observation range of the night vision device is also only front...... So at this time, the tanks of the Vietnamese army were almost in a state of deafness and blindness.

In this case, it is quite difficult for a tank to beat an infantryman, and the infantry is also very likely to know the dead spots of the tank's firepower, observe the dead spots, and just use these dead spots to climb next to the tank and blow up the tracks with a blaster or something...... This tank is crippled again!

But the reality is not so easy, because tanks are tanks after all, they are a bunch of things that claim to be the kings of land warfare, and that's how things are on the battlefield...... Every time I get into a desperate situation, I struggle with zuihou, and the ability that this struggle erupts is often surprising.

This may be what we often call the battle of trapped beasts...... Anyone who has fought a war understands this phenomenon, such as how many times we have experienced it ourselves...... Being besieged by the enemy is almost a desperate situation. I will think to myself: Whatever about him! Die and die. I'm going to die anyway. Just fight with the enemy!

We will do this, and of course the devils will do the same...... This is also the reason why Weishenme is best to use the tactic of "encircling three queyi" on the battlefield.

It's a pity that this time we are not in a position to do so...... The reason is that the enemy's troops are tank troops, and once they use that, what "surround three and one"...... It is very likely that the Vietnamese tank will use its mobility to break out of the encirclement and then bite in turn.

Therefore, the focus of the tactic of "encircling three queyi" should be similar in terms of mobility, or even surpass the enemy before it can be used...... The Mongol cavalry, for example, was very adept at using this tactic, and their approach was to surround the enemy on three sides and force the enemy to flee in one direction...... When the enemy was on the run, the Mongol cavalry took advantage of their better mobility to chase and fight all the way! When the enemy fled, he had no fighting spirit and no morale, and then he ran as fast as the Mongolian cavalry, so he almost let the Mongolian cavalry shoot at him!

It is also because of the massive use of this tactic. So that the Mongol cavalry can always exchange the least cost for the greatest result on the battlefield. Otherwise, the Mongols would not have been able to establish such a large territory in Eurasia.

But if it's the other way around...... If the Song Dynasty, which was dominated by infantry, also had a "siege of three ques" against the Mongol cavalry...... The commander must have had water in his head.

It is not difficult to imagine that the Mongol cavalry could have taken advantage of their mobility to easily break out of the encirclement, and then wait for the Song Dynasty infantry behind them who were panting in heavy armor and carrying weapons...... Maybe there's still time to sit down and have a glass of mare's milk and some food or something!

The same is true of this battle, when we used a tank company to deal with the two infantry companies of the Vietnamese army charging forward, it was indeed possible to use "encircling three queyi", but now we are dealing with the Vietnamese tank group...... And it is still more and more advanced tank groups than in our army's 59, then this tactic is obviously not practical.

So we had to surround them to death...... The consequence of the siege is that it may have to withstand the desperate blow of the Vietnamese army.

I say "maybe" here because not all troops will have this desperate blow...... Some of the poorly qualified units collapsed outright.

But I believe that this Vietnamese tank unit in front of me will ...... The reason is very simple, it is because they are the 320th Division, the ace unit of the Vietnamese army.

If they collapse on this. So what kind of trump card troops can it be called? And they are also tank units among ace troops...... The Vietnamese army, like our army, treats tanks as treasures. Therefore, tank soldiers are all selected soldiers with excellent military qualities.

So the Vietnamese tank group made a move in front of my eyes that surprised me...... The five T62s in front of the platoon rushed towards the 59 tank group of our army at full speed, and the remaining ten tanks quickly turned their heads and aimed at us head-on......

I know very well what the Vietnamese tanks are going to do, the five T62 tanks were actually sacrificed, and their purpose was to drag our 59th tank group so that the other tanks could break through.

It should be said that this choice of the Vietnamese army is quite wise, first of all, the performance of this T62 in all aspects is much better than that of our army's 59, and the Vietnamese army's five T62 tanks dragged our army's fifteen 59 tanks is not beyond its strength, and it is even possible to break through......

Tank warfare does not mean simply superimposing combat effectiveness and saying that "our army's fifteen tanks can't defeat or stop the five tanks of the Vietnamese army...... The reason is that the fire control system in the 59 of this era is extremely backward, and even the most basic rangefinder is not available......

To shoot artillery, you need to know the distance to the target, and I know this as well as those who have studied artillery tactics...... So when you think about it, if there is no rangefinder in this tank, and then you can't observe like an artillery observer, you even have to judge the distance in the periscope...... How easy it is to judge accurately!

Therefore, the gunners in this era 59 have a saying among themselves: "Judging the distance depends on the gunner's eyes, and shooting depends on the experience of the shooter".

To put it simply, the gunner can judge the distance by the size of the object that his eyes see in the periscope...... This is easier said than done, if it is a more familiar object, such as the tank itself in 59...... The gunner himself knew a lot about the length, width and height of the 59, so he could estimate the distance by looking at the size of the object.

But...... If the object is a T62 or other tank that the gunner is not familiar with, the error will naturally be large.

What's worse is ...... If the target is still moving irregularly, that is, the distance between friend and foe is changing all the time, it will be even more difficult to hit the target.

The Vietnamese T62 obviously also knew the shortcomings of our army's 59, so it took a "Z" shaped line when moving towards our tank group...... This point of action is like the tactical action of the infantry charging towards the enemy's fire point, but there is a clear difference in its nature, the purpose of the infantry to do this action is to prevent the enemy fire from mastering its own movement laws, and the T62 takes this action to make it difficult for our artillery to calculate its distance.

In addition, our army 59 had to stop before there was a way to aim, so the problem here soon came out...... It seems that the Vietnamese T62 only needs to constantly change direction and make irregular movements, and it is difficult for our army 59 to hit it, but it can destroy our tanks one after another while moving......

That is to say, the equipment on the battlefield cannot be simply compared with the superposition of combat effectiveness. It's like the comparison between this 59 and the T62...... Due to the gap in the fire control system, sometimes even ten 59 against one T62 are difficult.

But fortunately, our tanks also have their own advantages, that is, they have infantry to cover together...... Having infantry to coordinate cover means that there is a stronger perception of the battlefield and a global view, and the tanker hides in the tank, except for the periscope, where the palm is the size, and sometimes even the enemy tank around or behind him is not noticed. With infantry coordination, these problems do not exist, and the infantry can be informed of various situations outside the tank at any time through walkie-talkies.

Another benefit is that the infantry also has an attack power against tanks...... On the one hand, this attack power comes from the bazooka in the infantryman's hand, and on the other hand, the infantry can help the tanker determine the distance of the enemy's tank.

So these fifteen 59 tanks did not stop and aim at them as the Vietnamese army imagined, but increased their horsepower and scattered in all directions carrying the infantry...... Anyway, the hit rate is not high, simply do not aim but quickly maneuver, the most direct advantage of this movement is that it is also very difficult for the Vietnamese tank to hit, and another advantage is that the Vietnamese tank because there is no infantry coordination, so its perception is not high, and it does not know when our tank will go around its back...... Then follow the enemy tank in a straight line, and then slam it on the ass to see where it can go!

This is also one of the subjects of our army's infantry and tank coordination training, mainly aimed at the 59 has many shortcomings but a large number, once the battlefield encounters a relatively small number of T62 should react.

So I don't have to worry about the tanks of our army, and the rest is the problem that our second company has to face......

There are only a dozen Vietnamese tanks left...... Although most of these dozen tanks are not advanced tanks such as T54 and M41, their opponents are ours...... A team of armored vehicles and infantry!

From this point of view, the commander of the tank unit of the Vietnamese army was quite sensible, and the front was the 59 tank group...... Because the 59 is basically the same as the T54 in appearance, it is undoubtedly easy to fall into a melee when breaking through from this side; On the left flank is the 518.6 heights, and on the right flank is a wall of fire blown up by shells...... It is even more impossible to break through from these two sides, so there is only the rear side......

This was a pain for us infantry in the rear, and when these tanks were at full power, they would be thirty or forty yards long, and the bunch of steel monsters were rushing towards us with a bang...... It's not that easy to stop them! (To be continued......)
