Chapter 123: Blitzkrieg
Although the troops' adaptive training has been going on, in fact the battle has reached a desperate situation.
Needless to say, the reason is that the offensive in the Banwang area could not be formulated.
Combat training...... After the troops have adapted to the climate, terrain and hydrology of the battlefield, then it is time for targeted training, for example, if you want to fight an urban storm, then you should strengthen the troops in street fighting, if you want to attack the mountains...... Naturally, it was necessary to choose a similar high ground for the exercise.
There is no doubt that such a targeted exercise will get the troops into the groove on the battlefield very quickly, and because there have been various possible contingencies in the past, there is rarely confusion in the battle that does not know what to do.
But...... Now we can say that we are helpless against Banwang, and we don't know where to start, which means that none of us have an offensive jihua...... If you don't attack Jihua, then you don't know if you will fight a tough battle or interspersed in the future...... As a result, targeted training is not possible.
During this period, the staff officers also put forward one plan after another, but in the end all of them were rejected.
A concentrated liliang frontal breakout is ruled out in the first place, for a simple reason...... The Vietnamese army occupies a great geographical advantage, and the firepower, troops, and fortifications are also fully deployed, and it would be suicide to break through head-on in such a situation, as the defeat of several regiments of our army has fully proved this.
Outflanking on both flanks can also be ruled out, as Heights 481 and 544 are the commanding heights of this area...... Anyone who has studied artillery coordinate observation knows that as long as a subjective and lateral view is constructed on these two heights, the exact coordinates of each position can be easily calculated...... In addition, the two wings are full of jungle rocks. Tanks, cars, etc., which are maneuvering at high speeds, cannot pass. Can only be outflanked by infantry...... So the Vietnamese army had to do it. It seems that it is almost as little as a few secret outposts are dropped, and after discovering that our troops are interspersed with troops, they will cooperate with artillery observers to come to a fire of artillery.
Since the outflanking of both wings cannot be done, then interspersing can basically be ruled out...... Just as Xie Leming said, as long as the two commanding heights of Heights 481 and 544 are occupied, artillery observers can use high-powered telescopes to observe and use long-range artillery to control a radius of 20 kilometers......
So this exclusion comes and goes...... Banwang's battle seems to be a dead end.
There are only a few infantry tactics in total, either interspersed or concentrated Liliang frontal breakthrough, or encircled to send reinforcements...... This is not to say that our infantry tactics are less. In fact, our army is the country that is best at using infantry, so infantry tactics are relatively many. It's just the infantry thing...... It walks entirely on the ground, that is, it moves on a two-dimensional plane, and it comes and goes with just a few changes.
Modern Warfare...... For example, like the Yankees, they made extensive use of fighters, transport planes, helicopters and even paratroopers...... This makes the war a three-dimensional battlefield, and so there are many changes.
However, it is very bad that our air force did not participate in the war...... In addition to the problems in the quality and combat capability of our military's fighters, there are also some political factors, on the one hand, we do not want Shijie countries to accuse China of bullying the small, and on the other hand, we do not want Shijie countries to accuse China of bullying the small, and on the other hand, ...... If our army dispatched its air force to seize air supremacy by a large margin and make it impossible to maintain the Vietnamese border, then it is possible that the Soviet air force could also intervene. (Note: Vietnam in May '79, after the end of China's self-defense counterattack against Vietnam.) The Cam Ranh Bay naval base was handed over to the Soviet Union, which by this time already had three Kiev-class aircraft carriers. )
So. There are actually political considerations for the Air Force not to go to war...... In other words, it is unlikely that our army will change its political position because of the fighting in this local area of Banwang.
So the Air Force didn't talk about it...... The problem still has to be solved by the infantry!
"Got a problem?" Zhang Fan poured me a cup of hot tea.
"Hmm!" I nodded, took the teacup and blew on it.
"Just know ......" Zhang Fan said: "Your brows have been wrinkled together these days!" ”
"Alas!" I couldn't help sighing, put down the teacup and said, "When Commander Zhang handed over the task to me before, I was still full of confidence, but now I'm afraid that I'm going to disappoint Commander Zhang!" ”
I'll admit, this is the first time I've thought about it for a few days and still haven't found a way to do it!
"I gave up so quickly!" Zhang Fan smiled: "Don't worry...... There will always be a solution, but it's just a matter of time! ”
I couldn't help but smile wryly and shook my head...... In a way, Zhang Fan is also a very persistent person, just like now...... Even I had lost faith in myself, and she still believed in me.
Oh, yes...... It's a matter of time!
Maybe I'm being disturbed by time...... You must know that we have been training for more than ten days, and we will almost start fighting in a few more days...... Although Commander Zhang's side did not urge or set a time for the war, I knew that Commander Zhang's side must have been under pressure from conservatives all along, and I was one day late here, which meant that the pressure on Commander Zhang's side would be one point more.
But now this is the situation...... It seems like I'm going to delay this start indefinitely.
"Why don't you ......" Zhang Fan looked at no one around him, and whispered, "Let's go out for a walk...... You might be able to think of something if you take a break! ”
I shook my head in annoyance: "Still don't want it......"
"Let's go!" Zhang Fan grabbed my hand and dragged me up: "My dad always has a sentence on his lips...... There is no impenetrable line of defense...... Think about it slowly, there will always be a way! ”
I couldn't resist Zhang Fan, so I had to reluctantly get up and straighten my uniform...... The mouth said: "There is no line of defense that cannot be broken? I'm facing ...... right now Hey? ”
Then I quickly thought about ...... During World War II, France built a seemingly impenetrable defensive line, didn't it? It is the famous Maginot Line, which is a reinforced concrete defense line of hundreds of kilometers that France spent 11 years and 5 billion francs to build...... This line of defense was called an impenetrable line by the French.
How similar is this to the problem I am facing now...... The Banwang area was also called an impenetrable steel defense line by the Vietnamese army, and it also threatened: If the Chinese army wants to pass through Li, it must use corpses to level the narrow valley between Heights 481 and 544!
How did the Germans break through the Maginot Line? Passing through the front of the Belgian bypass defense, the Maginot Line was completely ineffective......
That's right! Thinking of this, my attention quickly returned to the map...... Zhang Fan also knew what I had in mind at this time, so he didn't dare to interrupt me, just pouted and walked away.
It seems that my horizon is too small, Germany can bypass the front of the Maginot Line from another country, so what if I don't look a little farther?
Therefore, it is not impossible to intersperse, but just because the two heights of Heights 481 and 544 are occupied by the Vietnamese army, they are basically under the control of Vietnamese artillery within a radius of 20 kilometers. But if you look a little further...... What about 20 kilometers away?
There are many places that can be interspersed, and it doesn't even need to be that far, and there is a 439 heights more than ten kilometers away under the control of our army.
But there's one more problem here...... The Vietnamese army is not stupid, once the interspersed troops open a gap there, the Vietnamese army will soon find out our intentions, and then they will mobilize troops to block the attack, and even set up traps on the road to wait for us.
I think this is also the reason why the previous regiments would have known to use this tactic, but they couldn't use it...... Long-range penetration with infantry is definitely not possible, the reason is that the speed is too slow...... This is absolutely fatal for an interspersed force, and the slow speed gives the Vietnamese army time to mobilize the troops, and as long as there is a Vietnamese army in front of the interspersed troops in time, it will make the speed of the interspersed troops slower, and the slower speed will give the Vietnamese army more time to mobilize troops...... So they soon fell into a vicious circle, surrounded by hordes of Vietnamese troops.
So...... There are three conditions that must be met for long-distance penetration:
The first is that it is fast, and before most of the enemy troops have time to react, they have already passed through the sections that the enemy might block.
So I thought of mechanized infantry.
The second is to have a fairly strong combat capability...... Even if the Vietnamese army did not expect us to fight like this, but because the interspersed process takes time, there will always be some small groups of Vietnamese troops blocking the road, if the interspersed troops are all cars carrying infantry...... That would be tantamount to looking for death. Therefore, the interspersed troops need not only combat effectiveness, but also strong combat effectiveness, and only in this way can they quickly eliminate the small group of enemies standing in front of them and march towards their destination!
So I thought of the tank units in the battalion.
Again, there is the need for air supremacy...... This does not seem to be a problem, as neither Chinese nor Vietnamese air forces have been put into battle. But here we actually show it in artillery...... Imagine that many of the interspersed troops were infantry with intercepted cars, and if they were hit by a burst of enemy artillery fire...... That's interspersed with a fart, and it's gone in a few hits.
So...... Our artillery must have the ability to suppress the artillery fire of the Vietnamese army, or at least ensure that the interspersed troops will not be killed and injured by the enemy's artillery in a large area for a period of time!
Then I quickly understood that this was not a blitzkrieg...... How could I not have thought of this! The Germans used this tactic in World War II, but I still stuck to the domestic tactic, not knowing how to concentrate tanks and mechanized infantry for intersperse! (To be continued......)
