Chapter 62: The Hogwarts Underground Palace (Part 3)

This low, circular passage is crooked and leaky.

With the faint glow of their wands, the four of them quickly walked out of the passage, and a tall stone tunnel appeared in front of them.

Once here, they had to go a long way to reach Hogsmeade.

William had never been here, he had used to walk through a different passage, and this was the first time he had come here with his twin brothers.

The two said it was a mysterious place and wanted to open his eyes to Cedric.

In fact, from the first moment he came, William knew where this was.

In Dumbledore's Hogwarts architecture books, this underground space is mentioned.

William remembered it because there was a sentence left on it: Ravenclaw's daughter Helena once got lost down there and almost didn't come back.

Gryffindor magically blocked the passage, and the entrance was never to be found.

It's just that I didn't expect it to be discovered by the marauders, and I also found the cracked password.

Truth be told, it's not so much a secret passage as a Hogwarts dungeon.

It's really like a dungeon, with a main road lined with countless small rooms and walkways.

Walking in the tall dungeon, William felt that if they ran around, they might get lost underneath.

Luckily, there is a live map, and the Marauders have found a way to Hogsmeade.

The four of them looked at the road on the map, and kept burrowing into the depths of Hogwarts Castle, and with each step, William's heart beat faster.

The terrain here is complex, like a giant labyrinth, even more complex than the stairs of Hogwarts Castle.

William seriously suspected that Ravenclaw had been involved in the design of the dungeon.

The four of them walked for about twenty minutes, descending the marble steps of the colonnade on the west side of the rotunda, then turning back in the opposite direction, passing through a wide aisle, and finally entering the crypt directly below the rotunda.

The air was dreary, and William felt that he had developed a claustrophobia.

As the footsteps of several people sounded, soft floor lamps lit up on the low eaves in the crypt.

By the light, they could see the sturdy form of the forty Doric columns on top of the upper marble floor.

Being able to recognize this structure is not because of how erudite William is, but because the building is really familiar.

William remembered the Parthenon.

The Parthenon, located on a limestone hill in the center of the ancient citadel of the Acropolis. William has seen the photo, that architectural style, seen it once, and will never forget it.

The building of the underground palace in front of me is also the same majestic rectangular building.

But unlike the Parthenon, the buildings in this underground palace have no traces of the passage of time, and the reliefs are lifelike, and the colonnades are carved with intricate ancient runes.

William stared intently at the temple, his attention completely drawn.

"Relax, William." Fred raised an eyebrow triumphantly, "This building is nothing, there are still here." ”

Fred said as he quickly leaned to the left, leading a few people through the wide underground space.

There were various statues in the hallway, and William saw a model of Hogwarts Castle, exactly the same one that Dumbledore had given to William!

It's just that this model is made of gold, and the whole body is shining with gold, and it is more precious than the wooden building given by Dumbledore, and I don't know how precious it is.

Suddenly, William heard the sound of flowing water.

- That's a lake!

In the middle of the lake, there is a small island with only one building on it.

The building was about two stories tall and made of granite. Under the illumination of the floor lamp, the four edges are revealed to be polished and beautiful.

It's a pyramid.

But the problem is that this pyramid - without a spire - on that smooth platform, stored a wooden coffin platform with four coffins, each of which was a different color!

"How?" George laughed, "Isn't it shocking?" ”

Fred glanced at the pyramid obsessively and said, "When we first saw it, we were shocked. Who would have thought that in the depths of Hogwarts Castle, there would be such a thing? ”

Cedric walked near the lake, but an invisible force held him back.

"There's a layer of magic around there, and we can't get past it." Fred shrugged.

"Whose coffin would that be?" Cedric said.

"Could it be the Big Four?" William guessed.

He always felt that this was the tomb of the Big Four, and that only they could build such a building in the castle.

"Maybe they kept it for themselves, but there shouldn't be any corpses in it." Cedric analyzed.

"I've heard that all three of the Big Four, except for Ms. Hufflepuff, have left the school."

Looking at the coffins, a gust of wind blew, and the four of them all felt cold.

They left in a hurry, not noticing that the golden compass placed on the shore of the island shook a little.

The four of them walked faster and faster, diagonally through the dungeon, and once again entered a narrow corridor.

In these dense corridors, there are many doors, each with a identification number.

"Can you open it?" Cedric asked excitedly.

"Every door is locked...... Fred said.

William pointed his wand at what should have been the lock of the door, and said, "Alaho Cave open!" ”

But the door did not move.

William pulled a knife from his robe, which had been given to him by his twin brothers.

He inserted the knife through the crack between the door and the wall, slashing from the top to the bottom, and then he drew the knife.

The door was still closed as before, and not only that, but the blade had melted.

George proposed, "Why don't you find Muggle explosives next time and blow them up?" ”

William rolled his eyes, where are they going to get explosives.

George was a little disappointed, which was undoubtedly frustrating for a wizard who was dedicated to exploring Hogwarts.

"Let's go, let's continue to Hogsmeade." William said.

They can only get over it now, and they can't open any other places.

After a few people left, they walked for a long, long time, and the scenery after that was not too interesting.

Fortunately, there are snacks from Duke Honey to encourage them to move forward.

After about forty minutes, the passage stretched upwards.

"It's almost there." George pointed to the seemingly endless aisle and said to William and Cedric.

At this moment, William suddenly stopped.

"Did you hear anything?" He asked.

"What?"

"The sound of someone moving." William said.

He pricked up his ears and listened carefully for a while, and the sound seemed far away, but also seemed very close.

The crypt was empty and deep, and echoes could be heard far away.

Could it be that there are other people in this underground palace besides them?
