166, the first episode of the storyboard

With the blessing of sugar water, the efficiency of YUKI Studio has reached a new level.

"Little Witch Academy: Magic Parade" is really only one step away from the V series, but although the distributor has set, the specific release time has not yet been decided, and the relevant publicity and distribution must also be agreed with Mr. Osawa of the other investor in the animation, the figure manufacturer small, and the audience will have to wait a while longer if they want to see it.

However, "Little Witch Academy: Magic Parade" can be completed within the construction period, and everything else is trivial, Gu Xue has been tracking for a while, and the center of gravity has completely shifted.

In the month when the script of "Embracing a Better Tomorrow" was created, Gu Xue went to CDD Animation Studio to participate in many meetings.

For example, the preliminary meeting that determines the overall direction of the work, the art setting, the character setting meeting, and so on.

However, this is a manga painting, to determine this, it is far better than when Gu Xue made "Little Witch Academy" from scratch. Because of the references, it is not difficult to determine the overall direction of the work, and the original work is there, no matter how you do it, it is impossible to make it in the mentally retarded style of "Blessings for a Better World......

As for the relevant settings, the comic drawn by the comic author, that is, Rina Shirakawa, is equivalent to the original case, and the main creators only need to change the relevant settings in the comics to be suitable for animation production and animation performance according to the actual situation.

The same goes for character design.

Gu Xue was responsible for the character design of the animation, and the changes were not very big, except for the conventional reduction of lines, that is, the characters were not so beautiful.

Anyway, the original author is not here, Gu Xue thinks that this is appropriate, then it is appropriate.

Month.

Gu Xue came to the CDD Animation Workshop again and participated in the script meeting. The script that has been completed now is mainly the first two episodes that Ye Huo is responsible for in the series, Gu Xue took a look at it, there are some problems, but it would be good to change it a little, and the impact is not very great.

The next step is to launch the storyboard.

Gu Xue needs to explain to the storyboard what kind of image she wants to convey, in short, her creative intentions.

However, Gu Xue needs to be in charge of the storyboard of the first episode, and she also plans to perform in the first episode. So she thought about it for a while, put aside the storyboard for the time being, took the finished script, and ran to the position left for her by the CDD animation workshop, planning to start drawing the storyboard of the first episode first.

Although the general supervisor is not involved in the production work that is too specific, it is common to be responsible for the storyboard and performance of key scenes, such as the first episode, the last episode, the climax or transition in the middle, etc.

This can be a good demonstration and can also establish the overall style of the work, or the supervision style, from the beginning.

At this point, Gu Xue is certainly not exempt from vulgarity.

She intends to be in charge of the storyboard and performance of the first, sixth, and final episodes, if nothing else.

But there are no surprises to say nicely...... How can it be.

Gu Xue drew a storyboard and encountered a problem when she drew the first shot.

on the table.

The completed script was opened by Gu Xue, and it was clearly written.

"Village."

"Under the sunset, the male protagonist ran to the hillside and stood still, bathed in the afterglow of the sunset, looked into the distance, and smiled......"

Just two sentences.

has explained the scene where the male protagonist is located, the relationship between time and space, and his demeanor.

It seems like just like the painting.

But this cannot be the case.

There is no specific lens language involved in the script.

For example, the above two sentences explain the time and space relationship between the main characters, lines and scenes, but what angle is used, close-up or telescope, how the protagonist runs, what the smile he shows after standing still and what it looks like on the screen, etc.

None of these things, and finalizing these is the work of storyboarding.

Originally, this was a comic redrawing, and it would be easier to draw a storyboard, because when a cartoonist draws a comic, the storyboard used can theoretically be copied or copied with slight changes.

But Gu Xue ...... Maybe out of pride, she didn't do it.

I took the script and looked at it many times, and after more than ten minutes, Gu Xue picked up the pencil and began to draw the first shot.

First, the camera begins with the protagonist's swinging legs, then a zoomed-out telescope camera that includes the hillside and the running protagonist, and then a telescopic shot of the protagonist standing still, holding his knees, panting. Then, there is a close-up of the main character, she looks ahead (the camera), her face bathed in the afterglow of the sunset, confident and happy, he raises his hands and shouts vigorously into the distance, venting his happy mood......

Everything was difficult at the beginning, but after the beginning, it was much better, and Gu Xue drew the lens smoothly.

Sketching out the last scene, Gu Xue added a note next to it, explaining the mood of the protagonist when he shouted, and especially emphasized the point of self-confidence.

Then, Gu Xue dropped the pencil, picked up the stopwatch on the table, looked at the first shot, and pressed start.

After waiting earnestly for two seconds, she pressed the pause button on the stopwatch and flipped over the stopwatch to look at the time.

More than three seconds.

Gu Xue thought about it for a while, started over, pressed the start again, looked at the storyboard and imagined for a while, and pressed the pause button again.

After making sure that the final time was not much different, she picked up her pencil, filled in the time, and filled in the number 1 in the first column of the storyboard.

That's how storyboarding works.

Unlike the original painting, which can be drawn without stopping, Gu Xue must determine the time of each shot, the duration of an animated episode is fixed, and in the step of storyboarding, the time must be roughly determined.

And to determine the time, you can only rely on imagination.

It takes a few seconds to imagine the action in the storyboard and determine the time of one card.

Once the storyboard is complete, add up the time of all the shots to roughly determine the time of an episode, and then cut or add shots based on that.

In addition to the storyboard, it is necessary to determine the length of the lines, the BGM style to be used in different shots, various requirements, and so on.

Although the storyboard can be sloppy and many details can be ignored, it is really not a simple thing to draw.

Gu Xue drew a few shots, and she was a little worried about whether she could complete this on time.

But the truth was not what she expected.

It's pretty fast.

Although it is troublesome and time-consuming to calculate time and write the content of the notes, Gu Xue draws very quickly.

And since she finished painting the first shot, Gu Xue felt like she had opened up the second pulse of Ren Du, and her inspiration was non-stop, without stopping.

The only trouble is BGM, and Gu Xue has no clue about using those music at certain critical moments.

I don't even know the general style.

When she did "Little Witch Academy" before, she knew very well what she wanted, but this time it was different......

What kind of music do you want......

What kind of music style do you imagine when you read the manga......

Gu Xue's eyebrows furrowed, put down the pencil for the time being, picked up the script, and turned directly to the last page.

The last series of shots in the first episode is the most important thing in Gu Xue's heart, she wants to create a feeling of 'adventure' and 'the battle is about to begin', which will definitely be a little weak just by relying on the picture, and the matching music and picture effect will be better.

Fit BGM.

Gu Xue looked at the description on the script and pondered for a while.

Adventures, dungeons, dragons, battles are about to begin......

Wait a minute.

Gu Xue flipped the script forward, looked at it, and suddenly thought of a very familiar BGM.

Cyclic progressive BGM seems like a good choice.
