Chapter 8: The Truth Emerges

Lin Xinyi has escaped the dilemma of being regarded as a criminal suspect.

No one can even question him.

Because his proof is always one step at a time, and each step is grounded in the evidence shown by the corpse.

This process is less like the whimsical, reversed and changeable reasoning of the detectives, but more like an unpretentious statement, a simple and direct report.

Such a report statement has the most irrefutable persuasive power.

"It seems that Mr. Lin Xinyi is indeed not suspected of committing a crime."

Officer Twilight eventually agrees.

He completely let go of his hostility, and looked at Lin Xinyi's eyes full of curiosity:

"As you said, the deceased drowned before his death and was immersed in water for more than 3 hours."

"But that doesn't prove that the deceased committed suicide, right?"

"More importantly, how are the shredded corpses formed?"

"Also, how to explain the blood wave that Brother Kudo and Xiaolan witnessed?"

The Twilight Police Department asked the most crucial question.

"We'll analyze the suicide last."

Lin Xinyi replied calmly and orderly:

"Let me first tell you about the cause of this broken corpse and the blood wave."

Hearing this, Kudo Shinichi suddenly pricked up his ears:

That's where it bothers the most!

He could easily tell the cause and time of death of the deceased, but he could not imagine how a drowning person could be reduced to pieces after 3 hours.

And he and Xiaolan also witnessed the blood wave phenomenon more than ten minutes ago:

Since the corpse has been soaked in water for three hours, the blood should have been washed away by the river water a long time ago, and there should be no large area of blood waves at all.

"The reason why Kudo saw the blood wave is actually very simple."

Lin Xinyi gave the answer calmly:

"That's because the time of death of the deceased is not the same as the time when the corpse becomes a broken corpse."

"Not only are they different, but they're also very different."

"It's... I understand! ”

Kudo Shinichi had a flash of inspiration in his mind, and suddenly realized:

"The deceased drowned three hours ago, but her body has been floating in the river ever since."

"During this process, the body is always intact, so there is no significant loss of blood in the body into the water."

"And ten minutes ago, when Xiaolan and I found the body..."

"The corpse was cut into pieces for some reason!"

"A large amount of blood in his body was also lost into the river in the process of dismembering the body, causing Xiaolan and I to see the blood wave phenomenon that seemed to have just been dumped."

"What?"

Hearing the detective's reasoning, the Twilight Police Department was a little puzzled:

"Brother Kudo, what is the reason for the deceased to turn into a corpse?"

"Could it be that a second person is involved... Nope..."

He suddenly turned his head to look at Lin Xinyi again:

"Mr. Lin Xinyi said that there seems to be no second person involved in this whole case at present."

"So, how did the deceased 'dismember' themselves after death?"

This question was in the hearts of everyone present, and even Detective Kudo Shinichi was struggling with it.

In an instant, countless blazing eyes focused on Lin Xinyi.

The scene was so quiet that it was audible that Lin Shinichi unknowingly replaced Kudo Shinichi and became a star in the spotlight.

"The answer is simple."

Lin Xinyi said unhurriedly.

But he didn't give a direct answer.

This is his professional habit, first give evidence, and then draw conclusions:

"You can see..."

Lin Xinyi gently moved out of the way, so that everyone could see the hideous corpse pieces placed on the plastic sheet more clearly:

"The body pieces placed here currently include the head, torso, right upper limb and hand, left lower limb thigh."

"And on these corpse parts, that is, the face, chest, forearms, and legs of the corpses, there are large areas of scratches and scratches that are basically arranged in parallel lines, arcs, obliquely, and with nearly the same spacing."

"At the same time, there are large areas of epidermal exfoliation on these sites."

"You can imagine..."

"What kind of attack does a person have to be subjected to in order to be scratched all over his body?"

"This...", the onlookers subconsciously entered into thought.

But it was the police officer with the most experience in handling cases that was the first to react:

"Could it be... Traffic accidents? ”

"I have seen many bodies of people who died in traffic accidents before, and they all had this kind of extensive trauma from collisions with the surface of the car and the road surface."

"But..."

As he spoke, he felt that something was wrong:

"Didn't Brother Kudo reason that the body of the deceased was soaked in water all the time after his death?"

"There are no cars in the river, how can there be a traffic accident?"

"No, it's possible..."

It was Shinichi Kudo who spoke.

After Lin Xinyi reminded him of this, he immediately reacted:

"Boat!"

"I remember that before Xiaolan and I found the body, there were several cruise ships passing by on the river!"

"In other words, the corpse has ever collided with those ships?!"

"That's right."

Lin Xinyi nodded seriously:

"It's just that because the cruise ship itself has a limited speed, just a collision with the ship can't cause such a serious scratch."

"Not to mention, the damage was strong enough to make a whole corpse fall apart."

"Look, everybody..."

He casually pointed to the section of the deceased's severed arm.

There is flesh and blood, erosion, broken bones, red, white, and yellow churning together, making people sweat coldly and stomach acid churning at a glance.

But Lin Xin has long been accustomed to such a scene:

"Artificially dismembered corpses, the most commonly used tools are kitchen knives, sharp knives and other chopping knives that are common in ordinary people's homes."

"Therefore, the wounds caused by artificial dismemberment often have free flesh flaps, that is, traces of back and forth cutting."

"The chop marks on the bones are generally short and shallow, and there are many repeated chop marks."

"Scratches and fishtail drag marks are often visible on the skin, and more scratches can be seen on large joints."

"If a saw is used, visible saw marks can be seen at the severed ends of the corpse, the wounds are uneven, and wavy or stepped serrations can be seen on the bone sections."

"The marks of the axe are even more obvious, and the shape of the cavity that is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom is very easy to distinguish."

"These are the traces that the murderer will inevitably leave when he manually dissects the body because of his lack of personal strength and limited tools."

There are only a few tools available for human corpse shredding.

The wound marks caused by each tool are distinctive.

As an experienced forensic doctor, Lin Xin can distinguish the difference from the dismemberment wound at a glance:

"And the wounds on this corpse are messy and varied, and the wounds on various parts of the body have different shapes."

"Among them, the wound edge and wall of the head are neatly distributed, similar to a cut wound."

"There are multiple arc-shaped wounds with the same direction and roughly equal spacing in the abdomen, thighs and other soft tissues, and the wound wall is not neat, the wound angle is not very sharp, the wound cavity is generally deep, and the level of soft tissue in the cavity is uneven - this is the result of some kind of sharp weapon cutting at high speed and repeated cutting on the corpse."

"And most importantly..."

"The muscles and tendons at the severed limbs can be clearly torsioned, torn and ruptured."

"And there are repeated relatively smooth sharp cut wounds on the broken bones, and the bones exposed at the bottom of some of the wounds show the characteristics of depressed comminuted fractures."

Lin Xinyi's voice became much lower:

"Artificial chopping can't do this kind of damage."

"This kind of injury requires some kind of 'murder weapon' with high-speed rotation, huge splitting force and cutting characteristics."

"It's like... Throwing people into a meat grinder. ”

At this point, everyone present understood what Lin Xinyi meant:

To put it simply, the wounds on the corpse are too messy, too deep, too heavy.

Humans with limited strength can't cut such scars at all, and only powerful machines like meat grinders can cause this phenomenon.

And in this case, the machine that turned the body of the deceased into fragments is...

"Propellers?"

After being reminded to this point by the "opponent", Kudo Shinichi finally found the truth he wanted:

"The body was swept into the propeller by a passing cruise ship!"
