Chapter 8: Elliott
Elot has always considered herself a lucky one.
As a child, the village was attacked by robbers, who sacked it and burned the entire village, and Elliott escaped by hiding in a dry well.
After that, he wandered all the way through the forest, and it was estimated that he would either starve to death or be eaten by fierce beasts as an ordinary teenager. But in the forest, Elliott was lucky enough to find food, perhaps from the wild fruits he could pick or the rotting carcasses of beasts.
Once, Elliott was forced into a pit by a group of beasts, and when he was curled up waiting for death, he suddenly found that the beasts hesitated to step forward, and finally gave up the food in his mouth and chose to leave.
It wasn't until many years later, when Elliott, who had become a necromancer, returned to this place that he found that it was a tomb that had been placed for an unknown amount of time, and that a mid-to-high-level undead creature was sleeping in it.
On one occasion, Elliott was found by the people of the forest after fainting from hunger, and the people who found him took him back to the village where he was staying. The man did not express any dislike for Elote's status as a street child, and even offered to adopt him, while Elliott appeared to be ignorant of the world, and took his money and food while he was asleep a few days later and continued to wander.
After wandering for a long time, Elliott arrived at the necromancer's gathering place: Deya, and happened to coincide with the day when the necromancer academy was accepting apprentices. As long as you have the heart and will to become a necromancer, you can join the Necromancer Academy and become a necromancer apprentice. That's how Elliott entered the Necromancer Academy.
After becoming an apprentice, Elliott found that things were not as simple as he imagined, learning any kind of knowledge in the Necromancer Academy would cost gold, and the Academy would also forcibly issue some tasks to test the strength of the necromancer apprentice.
With no gold to learn skills and no ability to complete tasks, Elliott was reduced to being sent to experiment with the transformation of the undead in the Necromancer Academy.
Elote clearly remembered that there were about a dozen people who participated in the transformation with him at that time, and in addition to the apprentices who also failed to complete the task, there were many people he had not met. Elliott didn't know what happened during the transformation, only that there was only one apprentice who survived in the end.
Elliott didn't feel the specific changes that this transformation brought to his body, only that after the experiment was completed, he received a large bag of gold coins.
With this money, Elliott learns about meditation at the Necromancer Academy, as well as some of the basics of being a necromancer.
However, after Elliott learned a few spells, there wasn't much money left. There is no way, in order to continue to learn knowledge, Elliott can only find a way to take on some tasks to earn gold.
At this time, the tomb that he had encountered during his wanderings appeared in Elliott's consciousness. The tomb of a powerful undead creature is sleeping, and if used well, it can create a lot of undead creatures. Undead creatures have value in their own right, in addition to being used in battle, and there is a place to exchange undead creatures for gold in any town in Diya.
Thinking of this, Elliott prepared to go. Due to the long time of wandering, Elliott can only roughly remember one direction, and the specific location of the tomb cannot be determined, and it is undoubtedly a needle to find it.
But Elliott didn't think much of it, as he had survived many times before, and Elliott believed that his luck would help him find the tomb.
As Elliott had hoped, it took him several months to find the tomb in the territory of Eli, near Diya.
This is followed by a slow accumulation. As other necromancers do, Elliott did everything he could to increase his undead creatures. Whether it's a passing traveler or a resident of a nearby village, Elliott casts his magic to kill them, and uses the crypt to quickly transform into undead creatures.
When his strength had accumulated to a certain extent, he took these undead creatures with his subordinates, and Elliott began to slaughter the surrounding villages.
In order to deal with the possible resistance in the village, Elliott began to attack the village at night. Due to the ignorance of the villagers and the fear of undead creatures, Elliott was able to break the village's basic defenses.
Even if he encounters a professional in the village who can deal with undead creatures, Elliott, who is hidden in the dark, can often seriously injure them by simply releasing magic arrows in succession. This is also due to the fact that the rank of the professional in the village is too low, and during the attack on the village, Elliott has not yet encountered a senior professional.
After attacking the village, Elliott further strengthened himself by transforming the corpses of the villagers into undead creatures, and then set his sights on ordinary villages.
After a successful attack, Elliott discovers a natural hero among the villagers that the undead creatures are preparing to slaughter. This hero has not been trained, and at first he was not even as good as the skeletons. But with her heroic potential, Elliott knew she had found a treasure.
Necromancers can craft dead heroes into high-level undead, but this is obviously not possible with Elliott's current level. Reason tells Elliott that the best thing to do is to sell her. A natural hero, just by virtue of her heroism and growth, she is destined to a high price.
After disposing of the corpses in the village, Elliott travels to a nearby town and sells the hero to the Liberal Chamber of Commerce, the largest transportation and slave trade organization on the continent. Of course, the town is just a branch of the Freelance Chamber of Commerce in a remote area.
Elliott, who got a huge amount of gold coins, once again felt lucky, and the value of the wealth and the transformed undead creatures after destroying five or six villages was only a few hundred gold coins, but he got 4,000 gold coins for selling this hero.
After that, it's time to make a lot of purchases and exchange gold for the items you need most. On the way back, Elliott also sensed that someone was following him, but eventually saw his undead creature and retreated because he didn't know his strength.
"The proceeds this time are enough for me to study until I am an official necromancer, so let's get rid of the last undead creatures and return to the academy." Elliott, who was about to return to the grave, thought.
…………
The warning brought by perception broke Rode's original quiet and peaceful state of mind. As if a rock had fallen into the water, splashing the surface of the water with wave marks, Rhodes immediately withdrew from his meditative state.
When he opened his eyes, Rhodes knew that the necromancer apprentice had returned.
