230 New Jobs (Part I)

When Rokossovsky arrived in Petrograd, it was already late at night, and when he walked out of the Moscow railway station and looked at the dark night sky, he felt a little different for a while.

To be honest, it was not easy to refuse Frunze's invitation, especially when Frunze was very sincere, and for a moment Rokossovsky was really tempted, but fortunately he quickly controlled his emotions and chose to go to Petrograd to work.

Rokossovsky had no bottom in his heart about this decision, although he knew that Li Xiaofeng valued him very much, but after all, his major was not right, someone was engaged in intelligence work, and he was a pure soldier.

Is there a future in working under someone?

With this question, Rokossovsky called a rental carriage, "Peter and Paul Fortress!" ”

When he announced the name of the place, the coachman was visibly stunned, and the Russians understood that the Petrograders were afraid to avoid this notorious prison - they were afraid of being arrested by the Tsar's secret police and thrown into it. Now they despise those who go to this prison, because it is full of notorious old aristocrats, big bourgeoisie and counter-revolutionaries.

No normal person wants to have anything to do with those goods, because that means trouble, very troublesome, and if you don't get it right, the Cheka staff will come to visit you. Although the proletariat does not need to be afraid of them, not being afraid does not mean that it is willing to deal with the Cheka.

"Sir, it's so late, it's not easy to get there!" The coachman was tactfully ready to refuse the business.

Rokossovsky knew the inner workings of the coachman. And this is one of the reasons why he is not confident about his future. Engaging in spy work is always a bit of a feeling of not being able to see the light. Rokossovsky himself was more repulsive to this feeling. And now someone wants him to be a spy, and he has a lot of concerns!

Rokossovsky sighed and put his documents in front of the coachman, "I work for the All-Russian Cheka, you can rest assured that I have no ill intentions!" ”

The coachman looked at the papers, and to tell the truth, he didn't recognize any of the words on them. However, the Cheka's shield and dual sword emblem are still in his possession. Since the other party is a staff member of the Cheka, he did dispel some of his doubts, and he can't drive the other party down, right?

"Comrade, I'm really sorry," the coachman laughed dryly, explaining, "no one in Petrograd wants to go near that notorious prison, especially at night...... The shadow of the tsarist era is too deep......"

Rokossovsky smiled slightly, nodded his head to show understanding, he can't be like the coachman. With the shouts of the coachman, the carriage slowly ran up. Ten minutes later, the carriage stopped on the bridge across the river from Rabbit Island.

The coachman said apologetically, "Comrade. I can only send you here, there is a military restricted area in front, don't let you get close! ”

Rokossovsky nodded, paid for the car, jumped out of the carriage with his luggage, and when his boots just touched the ground, the coachman could not wait to raise his horsewhip and drive away.

Rokossovsky shook his head, he was even more worried about his future, but now that he was here, he couldn't run away......

Ten minutes later, he was ushered into the Peter and Paul Fortress, and along the way, he felt less cold than a prison and more like a large barracks. At least the recruits who were awakened by the emergency assembly whistle made him feel extremely kind.

"Comrade Konstantin, I didn't expect you to come so late!"

In a spacious, bright office, Rokossovsky met Mr. Li's most important aide and partner, Mr. Macvey. In Moscow, he had a lot of explanations with Macvi, and in general, this guy didn't have many bad problems, and he was also a soldier, so he was quite good to work with.

"The train is late." Rokossovsky replied without any emotion.

"That's so normal." Mackvi smiled, he was more impressed by Rokossovsky, because Li Xiaofeng often mentioned this name to him, and if nothing else, Rokossovsky would have a great effect. For such a person, Mackwi believes that it is necessary for him to have a good relationship in advance.

So he asked very enthusiastically, "Have you found a place to live?" Comrade Konstantin? ”

Rokossovsky was a little speechless, I said that the train was late, look at this hour, can I find a place to stay?

Mark Wei also knew that he had asked a stupid question, he just wanted to find something to get closer, but this guy was thick-skinned, and immediately said: "If you don't find it, it's okay." Comrade Andrei has already arranged a place for you to live, and I will send someone to send you there? ”

Rokossovsky frowned slightly, now what he wants to know most about Lu Dao is not the accommodation problem, he has long known that there will be a unified arrangement in the organization of Lu Dao, and he is more concerned about work.

"What about Comrade Andrey?" Rokossovsky asked anxiously.

"Comrade Andrei is attending an important meeting of the Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Commission, and I will receive you for the time being!" Mark Vic laughed.

Rokossovsky nodded and asked, "What exactly is my job?" Speaking of this, he cautiously tentatively said: "I'm not good at intelligence work!" ”

Mark Wei smiled again: "I don't think you're not unskilled, but you're not interested." Rest assured, Comrade Andrei did not intend to overkill. With that, he picked up a stack of papers from his desk and handed it to Rokossovsky, "Look, this is the work arrangement for you!" ”

Rokossovsky couldn't wait to take the document, read it carefully line by line, and soon his brow was completely relaxed, and it could be seen that he was very satisfied with this work arrangement!

"Can I take this document back and study it?"

Skimming through the document, Rokossovsky felt very uncomfortable, according to the description of this document, he will continue to serve in the army in the future, but he is a little confused about the mission of this army, the border police force? What is this? There was such a unit in the establishment of the Red Army?

"No problem." Mark replied with a pleasant face, but then he issued a warning: "But this document is only for you. This is top-secret information of the People's Commissariat Council. Can't leak out! ”

Rokossovsky nodded. Carefully put away the papers, followed the guards arranged by Mackvey, and went to his residence in the Peter and Paul Fortress.

That evening, Rokossovsky carefully read the top-secret documents several times, full of curiosity about the newly formed border police force. According to the document, the border police force is an internal security unit under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the People's Council, and its main responsibility is to protect border security.

To be honest, Rokossovsky found this too contradictory. Since it is an internal security force, it should be responsible for the internal security work, and how can it be involved in border security, and it is not the duty of the Red Army to defend Soviet power and the territorial integrity of the country? Could it be that the border guards want to serialize?

Indeed, at first glance, this border police force seems to be a bit different, but in fact it is a four-way dislike. Because this force was created for only one reason - to ensure the arrival of food security smuggled from abroad in Petrograd.

With the current strength of the Red Eagle Regiment, it is necessary to complete this work independently. Seems a bit difficult. During this period, Li Xiaofeng closely followed the situation in Finland. It should be said that the situation is rather bad, and there are many signs that the Provisional Government of Finland seems to have reached an agreement with some foreign power to eliminate the power of the Bolsheviks in Finland by force, and may even go further to act as the spearhead of foreign power interference in the internal affairs of Russia.

In other words, the Finnish civil war is about to break out as it has historically, which is undoubtedly very bad news. Because Li Xiaofeng originally thought that he had exerted enough influence over Mannerheim to avoid or delay the outbreak of the Finnish Civil War.

But now it seems that Li Xiaofeng is a little overestimating the influence he exerts, or maybe his participation has led to the butterfly effect. In any case, the situation in Finland is not optimistic, and as an important part of grain smuggling, he must control the window of Finland.

Therefore, he took precautions and came up with this so-called border police force, and the reason why he did not use the name of the Red Army to do this was mainly because he was concerned about the sovereignty of Finland. After all, the Bolsheviks had already recognized Finland's independence, and sending the Red Army into Finnish territory in such a situation would probably cause a chain reaction.

In order to eliminate the adverse effects, it is necessary to change the brand, at least the police are better than the army. Of course, the border police force is certainly not a real police, it is definitely built according to or beyond the standards of the regular army. And this is also an important reason why Li Xiaofeng urgently wants to bring talents like Rokossovsky to his side.

In fact, Li Xiaofeng is not just a Rokossovsky, the border police force is certainly not as small as the Red Eagle Regiment, someone has been pulling the skin of the mentor for a long time, and he has to get the establishment of an army, that is to say, if this unit develops smoothly, it will develop on the scale of 40,000 to 50,000 people.

Of course, Trotsky could not have agreed that there would not have been such a large scale at the beginning, and that an additional corps would not have come under the command of the Red Army. According to the idea of the chairman of the Military Council, all the military forces of Soviet Russia were at his disposal, and he could not allow such exceptions to exist.

And the People's Commissariat will not pay for the extra army, how much does it cost more? Moreover, the expansion of the Red Army is imminent, and it is not appropriate to engage in a border police force to steal business! The bottom line set by Lenin was to start with a brigade of five or six thousand men at most, to do it experimentally, and then to increase investment if the situation in Finland continued to deteriorate.

Therefore, although this so-called border police force is the size of the army, in fact, it can only implement one brigade for the time being, and it is this brigade, and the funds required by a certain immortal still need to pay one-third of the funds himself.

Of course, even if a brigade is built first, this scale is not small, at least Li Xiaofeng knows that the gap in commanders is particularly large, and it is not enough to have only one Rokossovsky. To put it mildly, Rokossovsky at this time was not the troika of the Red Army in World War II. And at this time, Rokossovsky said that it was not good, and he was still a fledgling rookie.

Even if this is a genius, he can't reach the sky in one step, to tell the truth, Rokossovsky's current ability. Holding up is the level of being a battalion commander. Maybe it's not enough. Suddenly made him a brigade commander. That was definitely beyond his means.

Fortunately, Li Xiaofeng understands this truth, and it is fatal to promote the seedlings, so he has to find another capable person to bring Rokossovsky for the time being. However, such talents are hard to find nowadays. When the Red Army was first founded, what was most lacking was military talent, otherwise Trotsky would not have beaten the old officers' ideas.

Li Xiaofeng also faced problems in this regard, and he was even worse off than Trotsky, and Lao To, as chairman of the Military Council, was in charge of this aspect of work. It's easier to snare old officers. And Li Xiaofeng's border police force, no matter how you look at it, is not justified, and it is impossible to compete with the Red Army at all.

Fortunately, a certain immortal has a large network, and as a traverser, he does not need to go to the waves like Trotsky, and from the very beginning he has set his sights on the most brilliant names. For example, the first five marshals of the USSR - Tukhachevsky, Blyukhel, Budyonny, Voroshilov and Egorov.

However, it is not necessary and impossible to catch all five of these people, for example, Tukhachevsky has long been on Trotsky's list, and this person cannot be found. Another example is Voroshilov, who came to power on the basis of Stalin's nepotism. A straw bale, Li Xiaofeng can't look down on it.

There are only three people who are really noteworthy. Blyukhel, Budyonny and Egorov. Among the three people, Li Xiaofeng was the first to exclude Budyonny, who was Stalin's sworn friend, and his military ability was like that, not a real military strategist.

In Li Xiaofeng's view, in the Russian civil war, only three people really showed military genius - Tukhachevsky, Egorov and Blyukher. As long as he invited any of the three people, the border police force did not need to worry too much about him.

So during this period of time, Li Xiaofeng has been looking for Blyukhl and Yegorov, trying to trap these two people under the tent. Of course, the first choice was the Blyukhel, who was called Comrade Brun. Unfortunately, the idea is good, but things are difficult, and Blyukhel is not in Petrograd at all, but in Samara.

Of course, it is not a problem in Samara, the problem is that Li Xiaofeng suddenly asked for someone, which attracted the attention of one person, and this person is Frunze. When someone asked Rokossovsky before, Frunze was reluctant, there was a shortage of people everywhere! Even a rookie like Rokossovsky is lacking!

What's more, Frunze knew a certain immortal too well, he had long thought that someone had a very high vision, and the person he liked was definitely not a mediocre talent. There's definitely a reason why Blyukhel can be taken by someone. While dragging his feet and not letting him go, Frunze actively learned about Blyukhel's resume.

It should be said that Blyukhel's resume was eye-catching, at least for the Bolsheviks and the nascent Red Army. Born from a poor peasant father and a serf grandfather, Blyukhel woke up early in his youth, hated the landlords and the bourgeoisie, and was imprisoned for his participation in the radical movement.

After the outbreak of the First World War, Blyukher, like other poor children, was forced to enlist in the army. But gold shines, and Blyukhel fought bravely, won two George Crosses, and was seriously wounded during the war, almost losing his life.

In March 1916, he was severely injured and disabled, and Blyukhel was forced to retire from the army and had to return home to work as a worker. During this time, he joined the Bolsheviks. After the February Revolution, he rejoined the army and was elected a deputy to the Soviets.

By the end of 1917, Blyukhel's military talent began to show, and he was sent to Chelyabinsk as a commissar of the Red Guards. and was elected chairman of the Revolutionary Council to quell the Dutov rebellion. At the beginning of 1918, the Red Guards, commanded by Blyukher, liberated Orenburg from the counter-revolutionary Cossacks.

In Frunze's view, a talent like Blyukhel was too valuable, a "veteran party member" who joined the party in 1916, and who had a good family composition, rich combat experience, and achievements in leading positions. How could he give such a talent to Li Xiaofeng?

So, Frunze cut off his beard without saying a word, which made Li Xiaofeng want to cry without tears. Seriously, the reason why a certain immortal likes Blyukhel so much is because Lao Bu has a fate with China!

At that time, Sun Guofu ran the Whampoa Military Academy, and the general adviser he invited back from the Soviet Union was this Blyukhel, who was alias Galen. Being able to snare such an "acquaintance" under his command is simply a pleasure for a certain immortal who is full of evil taste!

It's a pity that Frunze won't let it. So a certain immortal could only target the only candidate, Egorov. In fact, if Li Xiaofeng were to rank these five marshals, Yegorov should be on the same level as Tukhachevsky, both of whom were pioneering military strategists.

And Yegorov also has a great advantage, that is, a serious officer from a professional background. He graduated from the Kazan Non-commissioned Officer School in 1905 and in 1917 had already received the rank of colonel (Tukhachevsky was only a company commander at the time).

Of course, there were also great problems with asking Yegorov to head the border police force, first of all, he was a veteran Socialist-Revolutionary, and he joined the party in 1904. Fortunately, this belongs to the Left Socialist-Revolutionary Party, otherwise, it would not have been invited.

The question of party membership was secondary, and in any case historically, in 1918 he would have quit the Socialist-Revolutionary, and with Trotsky's policy of appointing old officers, it was not too much of a problem.

The real resistance lies in the fact that Yegorov's status at this time is really high, as mentioned earlier, he is already a colonel. Moreover, from January 1918 he served in the Military Department of the All-Russian Soviet Central Executive Committee, where he was responsible for inspecting the organization and training of the Red Army units. After Trotsky proposed the policy of appointing old officers, he was appointed chairman of the Supreme Appraisal Committee for the Selection of Old Officers in the Red Army and political commissar of the All-Russian General Command.

It can be said that at this time Egorov was already a great god, was he willing to deign to go to the small temple of the border police force? (To be continued......)

PS: I'm so busy with work, I didn't have time to carefully check the manuscript and uploaded it, there may be incomprehensible sentences and typos, I hope comrades Haihan!
