Act 204. Disappearing papers
After being delayed for a while, Reiner returned to the hotel a little later than usual by half an hour.
After lunch in the hotel's restaurant, Reiner continued to study the new magic in his room.
Although he gave the old man his address last night, Reiner was not sure if the other party would come, after all, he did not identify himself at the time, and the note could also be regarded as a prank.
After a night of nothing, Reiner gradually completed his spell, leaving only the last part of the practice, and the old man was nowhere to be seen.
He didn't take it to heart, and the next morning, Reiner, who had received enough sleep, refreshed himself and rode in a carriage to the outside of the manor.
There were still many mages gathered here who wanted their papers to be recognized, and Reiner took a special look, but did not see the old woman, he suppressed some doubts in his heart and walked into the hall of the review committee.
Several of the students arrived at the same time as Reiner, who glanced at Reiner with some questions, but then bowed their heads and left, entering a laboratory on the first floor.
"These must be Roger's students."
Reiner said to himself, walking up to the second floor and into the office.
He arrived a little early today, and Safros was alone in the office.
"Good morning, Mr. Safros."
After yesterday's conversation, Reiner knew a little better about the mage who focused on compiling a dictionary of Serafino's poetry, and he found it difficult to comment on Safros's trade-off between his work and his own career.
But at the very least, Reiner learns the fact that what he sees is not true, and that he must dig deeper to get the answer.
As soon as he sat down, he saw Director Percival walk into the office in a dusty manner, look around, and finally fix his gaze on himself.
"Reiner, you can go to the Asterl High School of Magic for me today."
Percival said that he was not using a question, but a declarative one, and it was evident that this was an injunction rather than an inquiry.
"Yes, yes, but what do I need to do?"
Reiner was a little strange, Parcival himself lived in the teacher's quarters of the school, what did he need to do on his behalf?
"Come with me."
Immediately, Percival led Reiner to the reference room on the third floor, where there were boxes of papers sorted into categories.
"These are all papers that need to be sent to the Magic Association for registration and their review opinions, we have cooperation with the Asterl High School of Magic, and the registration work is carried out in the school, and at least one review committee member needs to be present to supervise it."
Parcival said succinctly, it seemed that it was a mechanical task that had no special requirements.
"Please send these papers over, the registration process may take a while, and you don't have to go back here today."
"I see."
Co-authoring this should be an office out, and it is likely to be an idle job.
Reiner nodded, he also happened to have some things to visit the Astor High School of Magic, which was originally planned to be completed after the work here was over, but now it seems that it may be completed by the way.
Percival bowed slightly, then called a few people to load the boxes of papers into the wagon, and Reiner sat in the carriage in front of him.
The gates of the manor opened, and a carriage slowly drove out, and the crowd that had long dispersed gathered again, but the wheels still rolled forward, ignoring their protests and arguments.
Following the path of the previous time, Reiner headed west, along the River Trestan to the Asterl High School of Magic.
Before, it was a residential area, but this time, Reiner came in through the main entrance.
This school is much larger than Crescent Academy, and it is not a castle-like structure, but more like a modern university, with wide squares and roads, neatly arranged teaching buildings, and young mages wearing standard robes and walking together, all of which make Reiner feel a sense of youth.
He soon arrived at the Archives, a four-storey, old-fashioned building, more classical in terms of architectural style, with mottled walls that had fallen off a lot, revealing an old atmosphere.
Reiner walked into the archives, and the unique scent of ink and paper filled the space.
"Hey, why didn't you come with the judges?"
The head of the archives, seeing that it was only Reiner, checked the ring emblem on his robe, and frowned.
He subconsciously thought that Reiner was one of Roger's students.
"I'm the jury."
Reiner showed his badge representing the jury, and he usually didn't pin it to the collar in order to keep a low profile, otherwise if he was recognized on the street, there would be zombie-like mages rushing up to try to get him to judge the paper.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I, I didn't expect you to be so young, please forgive me for being rude."
Seeing this, the person in charge was immediately a little embarrassed.
"It's okay, let's get down to business."
Reiner pointed to the boxes of papers unloaded from the wagon, not pursuing the other party's faux pas.
"Yes, Jurator, I'm Cedric, the head of this archive, and you can rest in my office while you register."
Cedric, the head of the two-mustache and slightly balding head pointed to the room upstairs, but Reiner shook his head and continued.
"No, I want to know, do you have any papers from the school in this archive?"
Reiner paused, and added in order to make the other party understand.
"It's a graduation thesis or something."
"Oh, of course, my lord, as long as the graduation thesis published by the students who graduated from this school, this archive has included it in its entirety!"
Rather proud, Cedric patted his chest and reassured.
"I need your guys to help find a few papers, here's the table of contents."
Reiner handed over a list, the first one at the beginning, of which was Sur. Miss Heinrich's graduation thesis.
The papers in this catalog, except for this one, are all papers that Surr noted at the end of the papers, and some of them are found by Reiner through the Magic Society, and the rest seem to be only included in her alma mater.
"Okay, okay, please wait."
Cedric immediately called for a few people to carry the boxes of papers upstairs, while he went into the archives to find them for Reiner.
Reiner sat on the couch in the hall and waited for a while, and Cedric walked out of the archive room with a sad face.
He had some copies of the papers, but Cedric kept looking at the catalog Reiner had given him, thoughtful.
"Judge, this is the paper you wanted, but it's just ......."
Cedric stopped talking, and continued.
"There's an article, I can't find it, and I don't know why......"
