Chapter XVII: The Siege II

With a group of walking corpses blocking the way of retreat in the rear, the wolves suddenly rioted.

The number of walking corpses is only ten, and behind them, there are still some corpses.

These corpses are no different from the walking corpses, the only difference is that they do not have soul fire. It was by activating the soul fire of the corpses by means of spiritualism that Rhodes transformed them into walking corpses.

It's not that Rhodes doesn't want to activate the soul fire of all the walking corpses, it's that Rhodes doesn't have mana anymore.

Before activating the soul fire of the walking corpse, Rhodes first changed the title he wore to [Necromancer], and the level of spiritualism was increased by one level, which is equivalent to adding one extra skill point to spiritualism.

Relying on intermediate-level spiritualism, when Rhodes summons the walking corpses, each walking corpse only consumes 1 mana of himself.

Originally, the creation of undead creatures by means of spiritualism required the consumption of a large amount of mana. Most of this mana is used to transform the corpse's flesh into an undead race, and only a small part is used to activate the soul fire.

But here, due to the sufficient death energy in the tomb, the transformation of these corpses into the flesh is almost complete, and they only need to activate the soul fire to transform into walking corpses.

Rod guessed that this was also the reason why Elot had so many undead creatures. With the death energy provided by this tomb to help him complete most of the process of spiritualism, all Elliot needed to do was provide corpses and activate soul fire.

Of course, the transformation inside the tomb takes some time. So after Rod first woke up, he only saw a corpse that was nearly complete in the transformation of one place, and did not see the necromancer apprentice.

The soul fire of low-level undead creatures cannot produce any special effects, and can only provide the instinct to kill the living. Coupled with the increased effect of the intermediate spiritualism, Rhodes was able to awaken a walking corpse with only 1 mana.

Even so, after awakening the ten walking corpses, Rhodes' mana was still depleted.

If you don't use spiritualism and let the corpse generate soul fire on its own, even if the body reaches the standard of an undead creature under the nourishment of death energy, it will take a long time to generate soul fire.

In the turmoil of the wolves, the wolf king quickly observed the surrounding situation, and after confirming some things, the wolf king's eyes returned to Rod. It sensed that the enemy in front of it was the one who controlled it all.

The wolf king let out a howl, and the wolves suddenly stopped stirring. As if they understood what the wolf king meant, the wolves' eyes looked at Rhodes, and then rushed towards Rhodes.

The wolf king wants to take advantage of this opportunity to kill Rhodes, and as long as they can kill Rhodes, they still have a chance to escape from the tomb.

After seeing the movements of the wolves, Rhodes gave an order through the spirit imprint, and the skeleton warrior beside him suddenly stepped forward and raised his shield to meet the wolves in front of him.

And Rod himself, standing behind the skeleton warrior with a sword, looking for an opportunity to make a move.

Naturally, Rod would not choose to step forward and fight hard with the wolves. Fighting hard when there are undead creatures is no different from facing the wolves just outside the tomb.

According to Rod's estimate, if the wolf king is not counted, ten walking corpses can deal with the remaining wolves. Rhodes only needs to fend off the wolves here and wait for the walking corpses in the rear to arrive.

In the rear, the walking corpse was thrown down by the wolves due to its speed, and could only follow slowly behind, not knowing how long it would take to catch up.

Since the main burial chamber is not spacious, the wolves must deal with the skeleton warriors in front of them if they want to attack Rhodes.

Originally, the skeleton warriors fought on instinct, and many times the instinctive reactions gave the enemy flaws. And now, with Rod's control, combined with his own powerful attributes, the strength of the skeleton warriors has increased more than a bit, and the advantages of strong attributes can finally be brought into play.

Suddenly, the skeleton warriors in front of them blocked the attack of the wolves well.

Under Rod's control, the Skeleton Warrior always held his shield in front of his body, focusing on defending vital points, and the blade in his hand was only cut off when the wolves tore at the leg bone.

Skeleton warriors are not afraid of pain, they are not afraid of injuries. Relying solely on the damage caused by the wolf biting the leg bone, it is difficult to kill the skeleton warrior in a short period of time.

When facing the Skeleton Warriors, despite the numerical superiority of the wolves, due to the fact that the burial chamber is not spacious, in order to leave room for dodging, at most only a few wolves can attack the Skeleton Warriors at the same time.

The rest of the wolves could only huddle at the entrance to the tomb, and although they wanted to attack the enemy in front of them, they couldn't do anything for a while.

Seeing the walking corpses gradually approaching, the wolves in the rear began to be confused, and I didn't know whether to continue to listen to the orders of the wolf king, or give priority to attacking the enemy in front of me.

Rod's focus is all on controlling the Skeleton Warrior. With the combat experience provided by Rhodes, the Skeleton Warrior seems to be another Rhodes who is not afraid of death, fending off the wolves in front.

Under Rod's control, the ordinary wolves not only failed to threaten the skeleton warriors, but were slashed and injured one after another.

Looking at the walking corpses surrounding the wolves in the rear, the wolf king also knew that he couldn't drag on any longer, and he had to quickly find a way to deal with the enemy in front of him, so he began to condense his magic ability.

Seeing the space behind the skeletal warrior's sword, the wolf king spat out a magic arrow and shot it at the skeletal warrior in front of him.

There are not many vital points in the skeleton warrior's body, and since the skull contains the soul fire of the skeleton warrior, the only thing that can kill is the skull. Rhodes has always asked the Skeleton Warrior to raise a shield to protect his upper body, preventing the Wolf King's magic from hitting the cervical spine. Even if the rest of the parts are damaged, the Skeleton Warrior can continue to fight for a while.

At first, Rhodes sent a Skeleton Warrior to stop the wolves, but it didn't last long before he was killed, because the Wolf King's magic hit its cervical vertebrae, which is the same reason that Rhodes killed the Skeleton Warrior by decapitation.

If it weren't for the magic hit, the skull warriors could have kept the wolves at bay for a long time by relying on the bite of the wolves alone.

The Wolf King may have seen this, and when the Skeleton Warrior's iron shield was desperately defending the cervical vertebrae, the magic arrow did not shoot at the Skeleton Warrior's cervical vertebrae, but at its lower abdomen.

The Skeleton Warrior couldn't catch it and was hit by a magic arrow, if it was replaced by Rhodes himself, he might still have a chance to avoid it, but the spirit mark alone couldn't make the Skeleton Warrior dodge in time.

Due to the nature of the skeleton creature, the magic arrow passed through what should have been flesh and blood, and hit directly under the spine of the skeleton warrior.

There was an explosion, and the skeleton warrior fell to the ground. The spine connects to the entire lower body of the Skeleton Warrior, and after being hit, it breaks directly, and the Skeleton Warrior loses its mobility.

With just one spell, the Wolf King wreaked havoc on the skeletal warriors.

Due to the narrow nature of the passage, a single skeleton warrior can keep the wolves out of the graveyard. But at the same time, the Skeleton Warrior also blocked Rod, making it impossible for Rhodes to attack the wolves with the Skeleton Warrior.

At this point, the Skeleton Warrior falls, leaving little health. When the other wolves saw the Wolf King's magic hit the Skeleton Warrior, they immediately attacked the Skeleton Warrior who fell to the ground.

Just as a wolf was about to bite the neck of the fallen skeleton warrior, a silver light flashed, and the wolf's head fell, blood splattered, staining the gray bones on the ground, and Rhodes struck.
