Chapter 29: The Gift
Heading west along the Charles River, you enter the West End of Barton. As a city whose entire eastern border is encased by the bay of Massa, the western end of the city of Barton, is the origin of Barton.
More than half a century ago, the city of Barton did not even have a name, but the undeveloped wilderness of eastern Massa, along with the current western side, was planned under the jurisdiction of the city of Newton east of Barton. A group of visionary elites used what is now the West End as a springboard to the east, building what is now the city of Barton.
After moving the center of power to the North End of Barton, this group of people retreated back to the West Side, where they originated, and formed the unique polarization of the West End now - you are either very, very rich and called the master, or very, very poor and reduced to the servants of the master.
Benjamin's van drove over a cobblestone road and stopped outside a manor.
"House of Grande, we had an appointment with Mrs. Quinn. Benjamin leaned his head out of the window and said to the formally dressed guard at the nursing home.
The security guard had a headset in his right ear, and the bent wiring was tucked into the inside of his shirt, and the radio pinned to his waist could be seen. The security guard received the order, bowed slightly, and opened the iron gate of the manor.
Benjamin nodded, and once again started his mud-stained wagon into the manor.
Zack adjusted his posture in the passenger seat, looking at the ornaments on the iron grilles that were pulled apart on both sides, and his expression was unconsciously stricter.
"What's wrong?" Benjamin glanced at the vampire beside him, "scared?"
Zach tilted his head, "Let's pray that the title deed of this manor doesn't have the name of 'Pochi Quininn' written on it." β
Benjamin chuckled and drove the van around the fountain in the forecourt of the manor, the upper half of the fish-man with the trident in his hand leaned back, and an eagle with wings spread on his left arm in a defensive pose was attacking!
The Eagle - The totem of the First Nations of the Federation. This means that Zach will be bound by the protection of the territory in the Aboriginal lineage. If the owner objects to Zack's presence on his territory, Zach will die.
However, Zach doesn't think Mrs. Quinn will distribute her inheritance in advance, let alone now.
Benjamin jumped out of the car with an old briefcase hanging over his shoulder. He opened the backseat door, and an adult Great Dane jumped out of the van and looked indifferently at the manor in front of him.
"Keep up, Kim. Zach beckoned to the dog and walked ahead.
Entrance to the hall, aboriginal style carpets, decorations, coats of arms. It can be seen that the Quinns are people who have a great respect for tradition.
Pochi Quin hurried through the hall with some information and was surprised to find these two 'uninvited guests'.
"Why are you here?" Poch frowned and looked left and right at the passing minions, "Who allowed you to come in!"
"We were invited by Mrs. Quin to explain the funeral process. Zach replied with a slight bow, smiling.
Poch's brows furrowed even tighter, and he looked at the briefcase Benjamin was carrying at his side: "Give me the process, you can go!"
The two of them didn't move, except for a fat-looking Great Dane that slowly approached Pochi, but his eyes seemed to be focused on the pastries held by the maids passing by.
"What is this!" Pochi took a few steps back and moved out of the way of the approaching Great Dane, "No animals are allowed here!"
"Kim. Zach laughed and said, "It's called Kim, and it seems to like you." β
Pochi stepped back, already looking a little wolf, and the Great Dane named Golden ignored his dislike and kept approaching him.
"I don't care what it's called!Let it stay away from me!And you!Leave the process and leave!Get out of my house!"
The servants were calmly doing their own thing, but their eyes were shining with amusement, and they were secretly looking this way.
"Young Master. On the left side of the hall, a spiraling marble staircase leads to the second floor, and the caretaker, who has been on the right and left of Mrs. Quinn, leans on the railing of the second floor and whispers, "Madame is still waiting for the guests." β
Zach smiled at the young caretaker and turned to Pochi, "I'm sorry, I don't think this is 'your' home. β
Zach let Pochi, who was still avoiding the approach of the Great Dane, step up the stairs, and Benjamin behind him patted Pochi on the shoulder: "I'll give you a JianyΓ¬." You can give it food to try, it loves food. Benjamin thought for a moment and added, "By the way, don't perfunctory it with bones, it hates bones." β
Led by a female caretaker, the two aliens walked through the crooked cloister and entered the balcony of the atrium, where they could see the entire atrium. In front of Mrs. Quinn lay a copy of Barton's daily newspaper, and on a small carved wooden table, on delicate little plates, some pastries. It's tea time for Mrs. Quinin.
"Ma'am. The caretaker reminded and exited the balcony.
Mrs. Quinn turned her head sideways, saw the two of them, and gestured slightly, and the two sat down at the small table.
Mrs. Quinne's face looked very good, and she seemed to have recovered from the pain of losing her husband three days earlier. At least that's what Barton Daily wrote, but we all know the real reason~
Mrs. Quinn handed the newspaper to Zach, who had just sat down: "Look at these reports!' 'Rise ...... in Sorrow', I don't remember when Quinn was in decline!"
Zach took the newspaper and glanced at it with a smile, "Madame knows that reporting is always like this now, and people like dramatic stories. I love this picture. Zach pointed to a photo in the newspaper of Mrs. Quinn standing in front of the microphone and talking, which was completely different from the languid appearance of curled up in a wheelchair before, "However, I thought Madame would be more ......"
"What's better?" Mrs. Quinn picked up her teacup, "Is it low-key?" she took a sip of tea and shook her head: "The consequence of being low-key is to be poisoned by your own grandson? β
Mrs. Quinn's generation withdrew from the media early on, knowing that their time was over, so they gave way to the younger generation. So in recent years, they have rarely appeared in the newspapers, and this time Mrs. Quinn held a press conference with great fanfare, which is indeed a big change.
Zach didn't answer, took the briefcase handed by Benjamin, took out the materials, and spread them out on the small table: "The funeral will begin at three o'clock tomorrow afternoon, first at the memorial service in the church, and then ......"
"I know how the funeral went!" Lady Quinn waved her hand impatiently, "I'm interested in what you're going to do with Pochi." β
Benjamin chuckled and looked at Zack, who had been bothered by this matter for the past few days.
Zack pondered for a moment, then asked, "Madame, may I ask a question?" Does Madame want Poch to disappear forever, or is it just to punish him?"
Mrs. Quinn was silent for a long time, then frowned and looked at Zack, "The reason I entrusted you with this is because I don't want to judge. Now, you're asking me. β
Sometimes, people are so strange that they don't want to cross the line, so they ask others for help, let others decide, and then keep their hands clean. Mrs. Quinn is such a person.
Zach and Benjamin looked at each other and nodded. Zach looked back at Mrs. Quinn, "Madam, I have a mention." We know that Madame doesn't want to do anything out of bounds, even if the other party has crossed the line, but he is still Madame's grandson......"
"I don't need you to analyze my psyche!" Lady Quin seemed a little annoyed, after all, the things they were discussing now were not glorious!
Zach didn't care and continued: "Anyway, we thought of a way. Disqualify Pochi from inheriting Quinn's one qiΔ as punishment. β
"Not enough!" said Mrs. Quinn, her fingers clasped on the armrest of her chair, and it was clear that she would never forgive Pochi for trying to murder her grandparents!
Lady Quinn has already had a bad family scandal buried in her life, and this time, she still has to uphold this 'tradition'!
"No, ma'am. Zach reassured the agitated Mrs. Quinn: "What matters is not the result of losing his inheritance, but how he loses it." β
"How?!"
"No famous family would leave an estate to a person who lives in a nursing home. Zach replied.
"No!" Mrs. Quinn vetoed, the sanatorium was just a euphemism for a mental hospital! Although the insanity of the descendants of famous families is common, it is still a scandal.
"Madame, please think for a moment, now is the best time. Zach induces Mrs. Quinn, "People will go to the nursing home, not necessarily because they are forced!"
Mrs. Quinn's eyes widened, there are two places in this world that are considered to be completely isolated from the outside world. The first is a prison, and the second is a sanatorium (madhouse).
It is not uncommon for people to voluntarily enter nursing homes, such as suicidal tendencies, pre-bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ...... When they realize that they are a threat to others and themselves, self-aware people will take the initiative to seek help. Instead of despising them, people encourage them.
As Zach himself said, now is the best time for Quinn. Poch's only two remaining relatives in this world have just passed away, and no matter how disgusting he is, to public opinion, he is going through the pain of bereavement, one of the most difficult situations in his life......
And these are all resources that Mrs. Quinn can use to divert the scandal!
Mrs. Quinn thought for a long time, but was no longer excited, and nodded calmly, "What do you need me to do?"
Zach breathed a sigh of relief and patted Benjamin on the thigh because it was Benjamin's idea.
Of course, Zach's relaxation was also due to Mrs. Quinn's crispness, who didn't ask Zach how he was going to do it, but 'what do you need me to do?'. For Mrs. Quinn, she knew that there were things she didn't need to know, just a miracle apparition!
"Madame doesn't have to do anything. Zach smiled and shook his head: "However, we have just adopted a Great Dane, and it seems to be very close to Master Pochi Quinin, so it might as well be a gift for the young master." β
Mrs. Quinn picked up the black tea, which was already a little cold, and said flatly, "Then I will thank you for him." β
