Act 268. The children
The afternoon expedition ended in a hurry, and Reiner and the others returned to their respective rooms after dinner.
For a mage like Edgar, this magical expedition is more of a relaxation between intense research and work, taking three students on a trip, since Baptiste has already shown his research results, and there is nothing to be fussy about at the moment, then Edgar naturally will not cause much trouble, he proposed to Agnes at dinner that he would observe the ecology of wild creatures in this institute the next day, which means that he already knows about Baptiste's research review work.
Agnes naturally nodded in agreement, she was on the same level as Edgar, and only in this magical expedition was she counted as the leader, so she had no right to ask Edgar to do anything.
At night, after the storm subsided, the Irazmus half plane was unusually quiet, according to the introduction, the insects had not yet hatched from the buried eggs at this time, except for some nocturnal predatory birds, other birds would not soar in the night, so the surroundings seemed quiet, except for the occasional slight ripples caused by certain creatures shuttling through the water.
On the fourth floor of the breeding area of the research institute, the corridor that was very dark during the day seemed even more gloomy at the moment.
There was supposed to be no one here, but a figure suddenly appeared.
Reiner walked down the corridor without making a sound, apparently the effect of mute magic, a low-level version of the magic that silenced sounds up to a certain limit of five meters, and while it couldn't hide the sound of talking, it was more than enough to hide the sound of walking and moving.
He went to the door of the room where the sea wolf Lal was kept, and found it locked.
However, this did not bother Reiner, and with a little spell, he unlocked the door through the mage's hand and entered the room.
The sea wolf is a nocturnal animal, and Ral has not yet fallen asleep, and when he sees Reiner coming in, he wants to howl twice, but Reiner makes a booing gesture that makes Ral hesitate.
This series of actions were all seen by Reiner, and when he was amazed that this wolf had such complex emotions, he had some more guesses in his heart.
He walked over to the cage, where Ral was very tame, squatting obediently beside his nest, his two green eyes staring at Reiner.
Reiner picked up the letter board that had been set aside and inserted it into the space under the cage so that he could communicate with Ral.
"You're smart."
Reiner whispered, and with a little glimmer of light, he observed the expression of the sea wolf Ral, who was also observing himself.
"I'd like to ask you a few questions, how did Baptiste train you?"
Hearing Reiner's words, Ral did not answer immediately as he did during the day, but hesitated for a moment before stepping on the board with his paw to make a sentence.
"I, by nature, would be like this, no, train."
The sentence is somewhat staccato and, apparently, Lal never spelled such a sentence, which is the language of its improvised organization.
It has a high level of intelligence!
Able to think, read and write, and answer unknown questions, this sea wolf is beyond the scope of ordinary animals, and is definitely not at the level that can be achieved by pure beast training.
"Who are your parents?"
Reiner thought for a moment and asked again.
"Jack, Rose."
The Seawolf Lal was quick to answer this time.
"Are you having a good time here?"
Reiner didn't say anything, nodded slightly, and then asked.
He didn't know if Ral could understand what happy meant, but it seemed that the other party knew the word, because Ral quickly stepped on his paws and pressed a word.
"Happy."
"yes, then I don't have anything to ask."
Reiner said, pulling out the letter board, placing it away, and leaving the room lightly, locking the door again.
All of this was seen by something in the shadows, and Reiner seemed to be unaware.
......
The next day, the arrangements of the magical expedition became more leisurely.
Edgar had made his way to the Institute's observation post, a tall tower in the middle of the building, to observe the nearby birds, while his three students had not yet gotten up, apparently having drunk a lot of alcohol last night.
Agnes was nowhere to be found, perhaps in the laboratory to observe specimens, and her student Darcy was sipping coffee in the dining room with a sleepy face, and a heavy book on ancient biological expeditions spread out on the table.
Reiner stretched, and as soon as he came out of the dining room, he saw a group of children noisily walking down the hall, followed by Windsor in a hurry.
"Ah, Mr. Ian Gray, good morning!"
Windsor smiled like a sunny smile and greeted Reiner.
"Come, say hello to Mr. Ian Gray."
She said to the children again.
"Yi ~ En ~ Ge ~ Lei ~ First ~ Born ~ Early ~ Shang ~ Good ~"
The children said in unison with milky voices, I have to say, such a scene is still pleasant.
"Where are you going?"
Reiner asked.
"Ah, I'm getting ready to take the kids to class, Mr. Ian Gray, if you have time, can you tell them about magic?"
Windsor clapped her hands and suddenly thought.
"Well, that's fine."
Reiner's arrangement today is to walk around the research institute, and he originally planned to come into contact with these sick children, but now that he has met them, it is just right.
He and Miss Windsor followed the children side by side, and they came to a large conference room in the research area, where they seemed to normally teach the children.
When all the children were seated and quiet, Miss Windsor pushed Reiner to the podium.
"This is Reiner. Mr. Ian Grey is a very powerful mage, and he will teach you today's lesson, so be obedient~"
Miss Windsor's voice was so gentle that Reiner was a little embarrassed.
He cleared his throat as he looked at the children with wide-eyed eyes and two hands on the table.
"What is magic in everyone's mind?"
Reiner asked, motioning for everyone to answer, and he called on a boy who had raised his hand first, and if memory serves, his name was Brighton, who seemed to be the eldest of the group.
"Magic is a miracle, you can do things that you can't normally!"
He said proudly.
Is it a miracle.
Reiner nodded slightly, motioning for him to sit down.
He found another little girl, the girl who was hiding behind Windsor when they first met, she was very shy, she slowly stood up, and thought for a while before answering.
"I think magic is...... Hope, hope to make the world a better place. ”
