Chapter 1: Precursors to Awakening

Next Chapter

2006.

Myron, New York.

It is a quiet town, the population of the town is small, the neighbors are very familiar with each other, the people are good, and the house is not closed at night.

Just southwest of the town sits a small two-story building, where the Jones family of three lives.

Richard Jones is the breadwinner of the family, with a virtuous wife working in a supermarket and a 14-year-old son, Ivan Jones, who has just finished junior high school.

In the morning, Ivan is adding fodder to dozens of cows in the cowshed, which is what his family does, running the livestock business.

In the past, his family rarely asked him to do this, because he was weak and only let him concentrate on his studies, but recently that he graduated from junior high school and his father was out, the job could only fall on him.

"It seems that in the future, I will be a rancher, this is a remote town, as long as I don't go to the big city, it shouldn't be so bad."

As he worked, Ivan muttered that he was only fourteen years old, but he was in awe of the world.

Because he is an out-and-out time-traveler, and through all kinds of signs, he knows that this may be a world that is not peaceful.

Fourteen years, from the panic and discomfort of infancy, to the complete acceptance now.

Just like a restart in life, elementary school and junior high school are all over again, and the only difference is the culture and region, as well as their own health.

Thinking of the teenager who was tortured by illness in the intensive care room in the previous life, it was like a dream.

Fortunately, his family treated him very well in this life, and he lived happily every day.

The wind blows the fallen leaves in the shed, and everything is so natural.

"Breakfast should be cold."

He likes food that is not so hot, so he deliberately left his breakfast to dry in the house.

Stretching out his hand, he was about to push open the wooden door of the cowshed, but before his hand could touch the door, the door was blown open by a breeze.

The wooden door is stuck there, and it takes some force to push it open, so how can the breeze blow it open?

Shaking his head helplessly, he was accustomed to these unreasonable things that happened around him.

Back in the house, sitting alone at the dining table drinking warm milk and eating biscuits, I still have work to do today.

"I'm going to high school soon, so I hope I'll be safe in the future."

At noon, the sound of a key opening the door sounded outside the door.

"Hey! Look what I've brought back to you, lad! ”

When Ivan heard this, he turned off the TV and came out of the inner room to greet his father.

"Dad, what's that good?" Ivan had a heartfelt smile on his face, every time his father said that, there must have really been something he liked.

I saw Richard Jones standing in the doorway, his right hand on the shoulder of a strange girl in front of him.

"Her name is Jessica, and she's the daughter of an old friend, but she's going to live with us because of some accidents, so let's treat her as a sister." Richard introduces Ivan.

"Hello," Jessica greeted weakly in a low voice.

She has a delicate and lovely face, with jet-black hair and bright black eyes.

In this respect, it is the same as Ivan.

Judging by her age, she should be about the same age as Ivan.

"Uh," Ivan was stunned for a moment, "Hello, Jessica." ”

"She's fourteen years old, I'll enroll you in the same high school if I can, so you can take care of each other, oh Jessica, I'll take you to your room."

As he spoke, Richard led Jessica upstairs, but at last he suddenly turned around and asked, "By the way, how are the cattle today?" ”

"It's good, it's all fed." Ivan nodded.

"Did you take the eggs? Did you alarm the hens? ”

"It's all good."

"You're the best." Richard winked at Ivan.

When it was time for dinner, it was drizzling outside, and Ivan's mother, Jenny, had left the supermarket.

"Hey, Jenny, didn't get drenched, did you?" Richard came out of the kitchen to greet his beautiful wife, dressed in an apron and holding a sauté pan in his hand, like a housewife.

"Honey, no, what about Jessica? Did you pick it up? Jenny responded, and went on to ask Jessica about it, as it seemed that she had known Jessica for a long time and knew about it.

Ivan set up the dining chair, thinking to himself that he didn't know that he was about to have another sister in the family.

"I picked it up, she's fine, she's just a little down." Richard said.

"It's normal to experience this kind of thing, so usually when I go to work, you have to talk to her more, okay dear?" Jenny hung her undressed coat on the wall.

"Yes, I do."

"Ivan, look what I've brought back, chocolate milk bar." The first thing Ivan's mother, Jenny, did when she entered the hall, smiled and pulled out six chocolate bars from her purse and handed them to Ivan.

Every day after work at the supermarket, she would bring some delicious food to Ivan.

She looked at Ivan with a smile, leaned down and whispered in Ivan's ear, "Give Jessica a little." ”

"Okay mom."

Even if Jenny didn't say it, Ivan wouldn't eat them alone.

The rain outside the window was getting heavier, and Ivan grabbed a chocolate bar and went up to the second floor.

There were two rooms on the second floor, one was her own room, and the other had a closed door, and Jessica was supposed to be inside.

'Knock knock'.

There were two knocks on the door.

"Jessica, it's almost dinner."

"Hmm." The person inside answered, and did not mean to open the door.

"Uh, can you open the door?"

The door was locked, Ivan asked, looking at the chocolate bar in his hand.

But there was no one in the room.

Something must have happened to the family of this sister, whom she only recognizes today, that she must live here.

No matter what misfortune it was, it must have had a psychological impact on her, and would she not be able to think about it?

Thinking of this, Ivan's heart jumped, and the door suddenly opened.

In the room, Jessica sat on the bed in her underwear and clutching the quilt.

"Uh, do you want to eat a chocolate bar?" Ivan gestured at the chocolate bar in his hand.

"You, did you open it with a key?" Jessica asked timidly, but she had locked the door inside.

"Well, it's time for dinner."

"I, I'm not feeling well, I don't want to eat dinner anymore." Jessica said.

"Hmm... Let's eat a few of this. Ivan said, throwing out four chocolate bars, which arced through the air and landed precisely into Jessica's right palm.

Jessica was surprised, Ivan threw it so accurately, and the four chocolate bars were like some kind of magic in the dark, manipulating them to fall into her hands without any mistake.

"Thank you." Jessica said.

"My name is Ivan." Ivan smiled at Jessica, his smile full of vitality, "You're welcome, just make this your home." ”

Ivan went downstairs, Richard and Jenny had finished the kitchen, and the whole table was full of sumptuous dinners.

"Where's Jessica? Won't she come down? Jenny asked softly.

"She said she wasn't feeling well and didn't want to eat dinner." Ivan reported the truth.

"This child, skipping dinner hurts her body even more, I'll call her." Jenny said and went upstairs.

The rain was getting heavier outside, and Ivan pushed the door open, intending to cover the family's old motorcycle with a transparent cloth.

He picked up the transparent cloth and ran quickly to the side of the motorcycle, covering the transparent cloth.

The rain poured down, but as if deliberately avoiding Ivan, not a drop fell on him.
