For example, the map of the Ancient Tree Forest, which has more than a dozen areas, and when players walk out of the initial camp, they see a plain with some herbivores and low shrubs, rivers and shoals.

Moving on, after entering the dense forest on higher ground, you can see small carnivores, some large monsters in the low ecological niche also live here, and in humid places, mushrooms grow, and some herbivores that feed on mushrooms can be seen.

The closer you get to the center of the map, the higher the altitude, the more powerful the monsters appear, the herbivores gradually disappear in their place, and some rare plants begin to appear.

Located at the top of the ancient tree is the nest of the fire dragon, which is the top of the ecological niche of the ancient tree forest.

In addition, the design team also carried out the design of weather and time, day and night, morning and dusk, the corresponding scenery is different, and even the appearance of monsters is related to these, and the storm of the ancient tree forest, in the bottom area is only an ordinary heavy rain, at the top, but can face the thunder, quite impactful.

The whole map is layered, from plants, animals, and terrain, forming a complete ecological structure, even if this place is really in a corner of the world, it is estimated that people will be convinced.

Outside of the Ancient Tree Forest, there is a wasteland with a large desert area composed of ant nests as the main body, a land coral plateau that was once an ocean, and a miasma valley filled with harmful gases made of monster corpses piled up below the land coral plateau, and a dragon crystal land full of ancient dragons and lava areas.

At present, according to the initial idea of Xu Rui and others, these five maps are planned.

Of course, there was a lot of creativity in the design department, and there were some ideas that couldn't be incorporated into existing maps, and really good ideas weren't abandoned, but were collected and saved for later.

For example, the volcanic lava terrain corresponding to the land of the dragon's crystallization naturally has snow-capped mountains and ice fields, and some people think that some areas with mixed terrain can be designed, but due to the production cycle, these designs are temporarily hidden and left for future DLC.

The design of monsters generally starts from three aspects, monsters that exist in reality, imaginary monsters, and monsters that represent the forces of nature.

For example, the mud fish dragon that appears in the wasteland is inspired by the loach and can move freely in the water and mud, while the fire dragon is more like the evil dragon in Western mythology, as for the ancient dragon monsters that appear in the late game, most of them can control the power of nature, such as storm and thunder, which are the embodiment of nature.

Due to the experience of many previous games, the art design led by Hollow is based on a relatively realistic painting style, with many more rough elements, scales, hair, and vicious monsters, which constitute the main art style of "Monster Hunter".
