Act 263. cloudless sky
Early morning.
Reiner hadn't fully woken up yet, but he could faintly hear strange noises.
It's chattering, and it's a little irritating.
Aware of something, Reiner woke up suddenly, and he looked out of the windowsill, where two birds were chirping merrily, not paying any attention to Reiner in the room.
"Birds?
How could there be birds in the storm of the Erasmus half-plane?
When Reiner thought of this, he suddenly wondered if the room was a little too bright.
He had closed the curtains before going to bed last night, so the room should be relatively dim, but at this time, through the plain curtains, it was extremely bright.
Reiner got up from the bed, walked to the windowsill, opened the curtains, and the two birds flew away.
Hmmm-
The outside world immediately appeared in front of Reiner.
The rain stopped.
The sky was originally shrouded in dark clouds, dark and terrifying, and at this time finally showed its original appearance, the blue sky was far away and pure, and the only few wisps of white clouds left became embellishments, due to the long rainstorm, so the sky at this time appeared extremely clear, and there was no dirt to be seen.
The sun shone down on the earth, shining on the world, and Reiner looked into the distance, only to see the sparkling lakes of rain that had not yet subsided beneath the treetops, and the birds in the sky fluttering their wings and swimming into the distance.
The contrast between the turmoil of a stormy world yesterday and its tranquility is a great contrast that makes one feel the miraculous power of nature.
Reiner faintly heard the cheers, perhaps from the children downstairs seeing the scene.
He looked at his pocket watch, seven o'clock in the morning, it was still very early, today's inspection should start at nine o'clock, and he still had a long time to prepare.
Reiner changed into a dress and robe, and walked out of the room, next door, Elimia's room was quiet, probably not awake yet, in fact, Reiner had not seen any people from the magic expedition team in the corridor, maybe even if he woke up, everyone chose to stay in their rooms.
Reiner took the elevator to the first floor, and he wanted to go to the cafeteria to get a cup of coffee, or if possible, some butter bread or something, but he saw that the door to the cafeteria was open, and he walked in.
Although no one was eating inside, you could see the alchemy creatures cleaning up, and the cheers you heard just now must have come from here.
Guessing that it was the children's breakfast time, Reiner went to the window on the side of the restaurant, where there was a menu that seemed to be able to order food.
He chose two slices of white bread, a slice of fried bacon, an omelette, a cup of sweetened coffee, and a small piece of butter, and it wasn't long before the simple breakfast was pushed out the window.
Reiner sat down at the table with a plate and took a few bites.
Feeling that the food made by alchemy creatures all over the world is probably the same taste, Reiner saw a man in a white robe dragging heavy steps into the cafeteria, and the other party was a little surprised to see him.
"Miss Windsor."
Reiner nodded in acknowledgement, looked at the panda-eyed Windsor drooped his head, walked to the pick-up window, ordered quite a sumptuous meal, and sat opposite Reiner with a plate.
"Good morning, Mr. Ian Gray, did you sleep well last night?"
On the plate in front of Windsor, there were two pan-fried pork patties, a serving of cheese and mashed potatoes, four slices of white bread, a large glass of orange juice, and mixed vegetable salad, which didn't look like breakfast at all.
"It was comfortable, I didn't expect the rain to stop so soon, to be honest, I thought I would have to spend the whole week in the rain."
Reiner said that the windows of the cafeteria could also see the scene outside, and it was hard to imagine that the sun was shining at this time, and it was still a stormy place just last night.
"I envy you."
Windsor ate the bread in her mouth with the pork patty, and swallowed it after a cursory chew, as if she didn't mean much about it.
"I fell asleep last night while sorting out the papers, and I didn't wake up until two hours ago, alas, barely tidying up, and I'll have to catch up on sleep later."
Sleeping late is the enemy of beauty, Reiner thought, Windsor is young, but always feels very busy and hardworking, it seems that this institute is indeed a little understaffed.
"It's hard work."
Thinking of this, Reiner asked again.
"The institute is full of Mr. Baptiste's students, is there any reason for this?"
Yesterday at dinnertime, Baptiste introduced them to the other members of the institute, all of whom were his students, and out of politeness Reiner did not ask on the spot, but now, he had no such concerns.
Baptiste's character is not bad, he didn't mind Reiner's words and deeds last night, and he was happy to accept those sick children, judging from his character, he was a fairly respectable mage, such a person should not be isolated because of disputes with other mages, so Reiner was a little confused.
"There were originally two adults in the institute before, but the climate of the Erasmus half-plane was special, and they couldn't stand it so they left, Mr. Ian Gray, you know, although this is a good place to study ecology, but who wants to stay in a place where there is heavy rain for most of the year?"
Windsor said, gulping half a glass of orange juice into her stomach in one gulp.
"The teacher has been in Erasmus for ten years, and for him, this is no longer the institute."
Reiner nodded slightly, if every day is as stormy as yesterday, then I am afraid that I will have to get moldy for half a month, let alone ten years, in this harsh environment, it will indeed affect people's mood.
"Do those kids know about themselves?"
Reiner asked again, and he saw Windsor's eating hand stop, and she thought for a moment before replying.
"They all know that they know their illness and that their lives won't last long, and they all know that they will be told when they come to this institute, and Mr. Baptiste thinks they have the right to know their situation."
After a pause, Windsor continued.
"Mr. Ian Grey may find it strange, but these children are still cheerful as they know their fate."
Since we all know that life is short, why not fill it with joy and smiles?
Windsor's words made Reiner feel a little emotional, and he didn't ask anything more.
Windsor quickly finished her "breakfast" and said goodbye to Reiner, preparing to go back to her room and sleep until noon.
Reiner also left the cafeteria, and with more than an hour to go before nine o'clock, he did not wander around the institute at random, but returned to his room, picked up the notes of the Irasmus half-plane, and read intently, until eight-forty, when he heard a knock on the door.
