Chapter Twenty-Nine: The Thieves' Guild I
In general, thieves don't patronize people dressed like Rhodes.
The target of the thieves is either the obviously rough kind of person or the wealthy businessman. Dressed as a spellcaster like Rhodes can often discourage thieves from stealing.
But there are such thieves who try to steal from Rhodes. It is said to be a theft, but it is actually a temptation of the forces in the city to Rod, and according to Rod's reaction to the temptation, there will be different follow-ups.
Rhodes stood still, motionless, watching the thief's body fall toward him, as if waiting for the thief's hand to reach into his pocket.
Seeing that the target did not make any moves, the thief was secretly happy in his heart, and he was reluctant to do this kind of task to test the target. In the past temptation missions, a person who accidentally offended the target of the temptation, but the target in front of him didn't look very good, although he was dressed as a spellcaster, but he had no defense against such a thing, and the moment he bumped into him, he could take away the valuable items on his body.
The thought that whatever he had obtained in the temptation was his own, the thief reached out a much faster. The person in front of him is likely to be an inexperienced spellcaster, and once he gets his hands on it, he can sell his magic items for a high price.
Suddenly, the vigilance brought on by years of theft made the thief feel something. The thieves tried to pull back, but it was too late.
The thief was horrified to see that just as he tried to retract his hand backwards, a clawed hand reached out from the side, far faster than he moved.
The clawed hand was accurately grasped by the thief's hand. The thief was about to resist, when a burst of pain came, and half of his palm fell to the ground.
For a moment, the pain overwhelmed the thief's consciousness. The thief's face was full of fear, knowing that this temptation had hit a hard stubble.
Blood dripped to the ground, and the thief tried to flee to the rear, but just as he was about to make a move, he suddenly realized that the caster in front of him had not made a move.
From the moment the thief tried to fall to Rod, Rod didn't make any moves, just looked at the thief in front of him. Scrapping the thief's hand is just a claw from the vampire next to him.
A strong sense of death lets the thief know that if he runs away from the rear, the caster in front of him will unleash a spell that will kill him.
Holding back the fear and pain, the thief knelt directly on the ground, not daring to look up at the black-robed spellcaster in front of him, but quickly told a series of reasons and begged for mercy from Rod.
Rod didn't embarrass him, and asked him directly:
"Where is the thieves' guild in this city?"
The thief whispered directions to Rod, who then asked:
"Where's the freelance chamber of commerce?"
After receiving the answer from the thief, Rhodes ignored him. Rhodes bypasses the thieves on his knees, while controlling the vampire through a spirit seal, allowing him to suppress his bloodthirsty desires and move in the direction of the thieves' guild that the thieves are pointing to.
The thief kneeling on the spot was full of remorse, and even if he stopped the bleeding wound, he lost the hand that was the best at stealing forever, and his career as a thief could be said to be over.
Rod, who was advancing, clearly felt the change in his gaze around him.
As soon as he entered the city, Rhodes felt the gaze of his surroundings observing him, wanting to know where he came from and what his purpose was...... and strength.
Perhaps because of the negative effects of being a necromancer, Rhodes didn't believe that everyone who entered the city for the first time would be tempted by this.
In the process of the thief's temptation, the vampire instantly abolished one of the thief's hands with a single blow, and this ruthless approach, as well as its high strength, undoubtedly shocked the hidden observers around him. In addition, in this process, Rhodes himself did not make a move at all, and his unfathomable strength made the people who were originally watching mark a dangerous mark on Rhodes and his party.
Rhodes didn't ask which side the thieves' temptation came from, whether it was the various forces in the city or the thieves' guild, it didn't matter to Rhodes, Rhodes obviously didn't intend to spend energy on this kind of thing, but had a more important purpose.
Leading the vampire, Rhodes followed the direction the thief had pointed him to the doorway of a building.
Rhodes looked into the building, the interior was dimly lit, illuminated only by a few oil lamps, but it was still brighter than the tomb where Rhodes had been before.
The building was crowded but silent, and even conversations were whispered. Under the illumination of the lights, the figures of people are sensational, giving the building a special sense of ritual.
Seeing the scene inside, Rhodes knew that the thieves were not lying in order to survive, and this was the place he was coming to, the Thieves' Guild.
As soon as Rhodes entered, a waiter dressed in a black robe stepped forward to inquire about his intentions.
It is also about obtaining information, and unlike noisy places like taverns, the Thieves' Guild has always treated intelligence as a commodity. Whether it's selling intelligence or acquiring intelligence, there's a dedicated location to do it.
Rhodes made clear to the attendant that he wanted to ask for news. The attendant whispered to Rod to follow him, and then led them inside.
Led by the attendants, Rhodes and the vampire made their way through the halls of the Thieves' Guild to the door of a room.
Ying knocked twice on the door, then opened the door, and Rhodes and the vampire entered.
Rhodes looked into the room, a soundproof quiet room for asking for information, with a long table in the quiet room. The light source in the quiet room comes from the candlesticks placed at the ends of the table, illuminating the objects placed on the table.
Through the candlelight, Rhodes saw quill pens at each end of the table, and a piece of parchment in the middle.
On the opposite side of the table sat an old man, also dressed in a hood, his face covered with a black scarf, and there were deep wrinkles next to his exposed eye sockets. With his wrinkled hands on the table, he signaled to Rhodes that he had no weapons, and was quietly looking at Rhodes at the moment.
Rhodes understood that based on his own understanding of the Thieves' Guild in his previous life, as far as the Thieves' Guild in this town was concerned, this was already the highest level of Ashram inquiry.
Rod guessed that it should be the news that he had made a move against the thieves to the thieves guild before, so he would use the highest standard of hospitality to himself at this moment.
Perhaps, the previous temptation was arranged by the Thieves' Guild.
Without thinking about these questions, Rhodes sat in the chair in front of the table while the vampire stood aside.
The old man on the other side raised one of the hands that had been placed on the table and motioned for Rod to write his question on a piece of paper.
