Act 118. Rainy night
Fina was right, the downpour soon swept through the entire town of Sur.
There were no stars in the night, and a little spark flashed in the thick black clouds like ink.
Everything was like a silent movie slowing down, and bright silver thunder and lightning shuttled above the clouds, like a long snake flying, and suddenly, the whole town was illuminated.
Boom –
After a short gap, the deafening thunder belatedly came.
Situated at the foot of the towering Sur Mountains and surrounded by endless plains, the thunder felt in the town of Sur was even stronger, as if the earth was trembling, and the power of nature was unobstructed.
The raindrops of beans poured down on the grassland, and the howling wind blew, and the deep grass under the night was like a raging tide, surging one after another, showing a terrifying attitude.
In the midst of the storm, this tower on the hill crumbled like a candle in the wind.
Reiner lay on the couch, watching the raindrops that kept hitting the window, but he couldn't sleep peacefully.
Dana's house has no guest room, and his father's room is too dirty, so he can only ask Reiner to fall asleep on the sofa in the living room, Reiner himself doesn't care much about this, although Dana offers to let him sleep in his own bed, Reiner politely refuses.
The sound of the rain echoed in his ears, but Reiner's mind was what he had seen and heard today.
In this picturesque field, there is such a group of ignorant and ignorant people, who hate magic, hate mages, and are unwilling to accept anything new, repeating the primitive and ancient life for ten years, or even a hundred years.
According to Fina, even the hospital was forcibly built by the lords of this area, and the town of Sur is located on the border of the kingdom, next to the deserted Sur Mountains, and the annual tax revenue is very small, even the nobles who manage this area do not pay attention to it, and there was once a mage who kindly installed a magic irrigation device on the fields here, but it was immediately dismantled by the townspeople and sold for money, and the town also celebrated with the money from the sale.
Later, the following year, the town of Sur was hit by a severe drought, and the conventional irrigation methods could not meet the requirements of the fields and pastures, which directly caused most of the town's livestock to die of thirst, and they began to complain about why Fina's father did not stop the removal of the irrigation installation.
This resentment was even transferred to Fina, she still remembers that during that time, she didn't dare to go out at all, because the children in the town would pull her into a corner and punch and kick her to vent their anger whenever they saw Fina, and even the older boys tried to plot against Fina, but their parents found out.
And Fina clearly heard that the reason why the parents of those children stopped the atrocities was not to protect Fina, but to say that having a relationship with something as filthy as her would cause her body to fester, and she couldn't even touch it!
Thinking of this, Reiner felt a wave of nausea in his stomach.
When he used to read novels, he had seen some descriptions of ignorant and backward areas, but Reiner only thought that it was a fiction of art, and that real human beings would not be so stupid.
But now, in Fina's hometown, he's finally seen how stupid humans can be.
Reiner didn't want to change that, but at the very least, he had to put his students at ease.
In the midst of all these thoughts, sleepiness gradually came over and enveloped Reiner.
The rain was still falling, and Reiner had closed his eyes and fallen asleep.
......
The air was always exceptionally fresh after the rain, and early the next morning, Reiner was woken up by a sizzling sound.
He opened his eyes, sat up, patted his face lightly to sober up, and then searched for the source of the sound, only to find that it was Fina who was busy by the stove with an apron.
It's kind of at home, but it's debatable whether Fina's role is a wife or a mother.
Reiner thought about it for no reason, and he bypassed some of Fina's unfinished manuscripts on the floor, went to the bathroom, washed his face briefly, and returned to the living room, where he found that Fina had already brought two plates of fried egg bacon.
"There's nothing left to eat at home, that's all I find."
Fina said apologetically, not only did she let the guests sleep on the couch, but she also couldn't bring out good things to entertain Reiner, which made her a little apprehensive.
"It's okay, I've experienced worse than this."
Reiner didn't talk about his experience of living on free soup and chili pickles in the school cafeteria when he was the poorest on earth, and the breakfast in front of him was enough to be called sumptuous.
"We still have to go to the hospital today, right?"
Reiner ate half of the egg and then asked, the doctor in charge happened to be out when they went there yesterday, so they had to go to the hospital again today to check their condition.
"Well, Uncle Phyllis went to the neighboring town yesterday to buy medicine, and he only came back today."
Fina nodded, Uncle Phyllis in her mouth was the doctor of Sur Town, a first-order mage, and it was this Uncle Phyllis who persuaded Fina to let her enter the Crescent Moon Academy to study, it can be said that this is the best person for Fina in the town.
The two of them had a brief breakfast, sat for a while, and then left the tower to prepare for the hospital.
There are also many puddles on the road, reflecting the sunlight, and as far as the eye can see, the green and vast grass has been washed by the rain, and the colors are extraordinarily gorgeous.
It has to be said that it does have a breathtaking view, but once you think of the people here, Reiner can't appreciate it.
They followed the path, and in the meadow not far away, a man on horseback was driving the cattle and sheep out of the pen, and he glanced at Fina with disdain, and then turned away.
The town was already being crowded, and most of them frowned at the sight of Fina, but they didn't ask anything, but three young men in their early twenties came up and blocked Fina's and Reiner's path.
"Witch, I heard that your father is dying."
The young man who took the lead said with disdain.
"It turns out that the mages will still die, I thought they all sucked human blood for a living."
A young man next to him chimed in, sweeping Fina up and down with a greedy gaze.
These young people in adolescence have nowhere to vent their desires, but the conservative towns can't let those customs industries enter, so they have to do it themselves.
Fina turned a blind eye to such a provocation, and only glanced coldly at the young man at the head.
"Get out of the way."
"Oh, I'm so scared, I heard that you learned magic, are you going to burn me to death?"
The young man took a step back and said in a pretended exaggeration, and he looked at Reiner beside Fina and said with bad intentions.
"Who is this, your new gold master, but you are very young, presumably you are better off in bed......"
Before the man could finish speaking, Fina had already stretched out her hand, and a bright crimson flame ignited, pointing at the other party.
