Episode 4 wraps up and takes a leave of absence

Previous Chapter

The fourth episode ended safely, and then entered the summary session.

Before I do that, I have to apologize for the last long break, I'm sorry.

Although the main reason is that Carvin is quite serious, there are also factors that make it difficult for me to bounce back due to the low period. On the one hand, it is a low period, and on the other hand, it is a mentality that is depressed because of the low period. A few months ago, I told my friends that I would be back soon, but I was so ashamed that I fell into this vicious circle.

Although I used a lot to get back the feeling this time, the fifth episode has not landed for the time being, so I still have to take a leave of absence for a while. I hope that this time I can figure out the idea as soon as possible, as soon as possible, otherwise it will be in danger!

Then there is the summary part, in fact, even I found out when I was writing the summary, and the fourth episode seems to reflect the results of the change in my creative thinking to a high extent.

In the beginning, I was a person who had no intention of telling stories, and I could write whatever I wanted. Maybe in the morning I thought of a plot of "the city is in chaos, everyone is very panicked, and the protagonist is a superpower, so he kills all sides", and I figured out the beginning in the afternoon, and then followed my intuition all the way to the end, without the slightest intention of dragging mud and water. There may be a lot of anticlimactic things, but ...... Whatever, I'm cool anyway, isn't it good?

At the time, I barely had a Kavin, but at the price, I also had a bad feeling. Because as the popularity increased, some readers began to appear, saying that it was some, but in fact there were many...... While praising me, he pointed to some places in the article and said, here is foreshadowing, there is foreshadowing, the author must be playing a big game of chess, and it will definitely be super exciting in the future...... In retrospect, maybe it was a reader's plot against me. But at that time, I was trembling with the keyboard, there was no main line or outline in my head, and I didn't even do a reliable setting, it was completely "this element is also quite interesting, okay, stuff it in!" After coming back to his senses, he actually became a highly anticipated author of the big chess department in all kinds of misunderstandings, thinking that this is a game, I'm going to die, I'm going to die, I'm going to die, and now I'm honest with everyone, will I be hanged. It may sound outrageous, but it's a real event, and it's a nightmare.

But there are also advantages, and if it weren't for these days, I wouldn't have forced myself to improve my craft. During this period, I also fell into the strange circle of "reversal for the sake of reversal", or pondered some creative magic exercises. It's hard for me not to be aware of other people's gazes, and although I occasionally ask for compliments, the more I get compliments, the more stressful I feel, and the more pressure I feel when criticism increases, and even more so when I don't have praise or criticism. In general, it is a situation where it is necessary to move forward. Luckily, I'm slowly moving forward.

The first trick I figured out was to start with a "central plot" for the story.

Yes, not the "central idea", but the "central plot".

2

In fact, from the author's point of view, you shouldn't have analyzed this and that with the reader after the story is over, so it's like a magician breaking down his magic tricks in front of the audience, and the audience will think that you are nothing more than that. But on the other hand, I really like this part of talking to the reader about the creative technique, so that some readers will have the illusion that I am really following some super serious theory meticulously, and smell a hint of orthodoxy in the stinking cool writer.

Back to the topic, for example, the original central plot of this unit drama is: I don't know where a Japanese samurai rushed out, and Xu Fu sharked him with his empty hands.

After typing this line, I silently stared at it, thinking to myself who this samurai was, and why did he fight Xu Fu...... Then I slowly thought that this person was probably a martial artist who had been defeated by Xu Fu before, and this episode was probably here to seek revenge, right? Then I continued to ask: why did he not admit defeat, where did he fight Xu Fu, why did he think he could beat Xu Fu, and where did he get this reliance......

Then I came up with a very rough thread, which I think was made two or three months ago, but I threw it into the material box at the time. If you write whatever comes to mind, it's no different from what I was at the beginning. This choice is also my current flaw on some level, and I am easily at the mercy of other people's evaluations, and I have forgotten how to be wanton. But as you all know today, I eventually got it out because I found the "central idea" that fits it.

"Central idea" is the second skill I learned.

It's not a must-have for the web, not even for me. As I mentioned in my previous testimonials, my original intention in telling stories was to make myself happy, or it could also be said to be a catharsis for my secondary two illnesses. If readers resonate with me, then I'm even happier. But the central idea is still necessary, why, because it's the backbone of the story. With this thing, I will bring the story closer to it, and the story will have a spine. What's more, the story will be super powerful, and I will also be super powerful, killing two birds with one stone!

The central idea is the "fool", that is, the person who is not at the mercy of the situation.

The source of this central idea comes from a sentence that I carefully studied some time ago, and there is a sentence in it to the effect that "man is an animal living in a situation". I wondered what to call a psychopath, supposing that he was immersed in his own world and did not pay attention to objective reality...... Of course, this is nothing more than the imagination of a layman, but sometimes inspiration runs out of imagination. Once I had my thoughts in order, I knew how I was supposed to show the reader "profoundness" in the new story.

However, even though I am making a joke, the reader who is really thoughtful may also associate some other profoundness from my teasing. If I really played the role of throwing stones and attracting jade, then this story is not told in vain.

The swordsman and the warrior are characters based on this theme, as well as the god of ceres, the plaid shirt, the small hair, and even Xu Fu and the Turin doctor...... I have consciously given them qualities that are either in line with or contrary to the theme of "fools".

As for what a fool is, what actions deviate from a fool, and whether a fool symbolizes a positive or negative meaning...... In many cases, this is left to the reader to think, and the author has no authority to think for the reader. As cunning as it sounds, storytelling occasionally requires it. Please forgive me magnanimously for this.

As I said before, "reversal" is a demonic exercise. The term Demon Dao Gong is also mentioned above. So, what does the Demon Dao Gong mean?

Forget where you saw it, someone once said to tell an honest story to the reader.

The so-called Demon Dao Exercises are dishonest to readers.

So, if the reversal is dishonest, does it have to be the Demon Dao Exercises? Not really.

Today's readers are experienced in reading, and it has become a difficult job to make readers feel "unexpected", so even a certain degree of dishonesty can be forgiven. As long as it can be "reasonable" in the end, then it is still the right way to tell a story. In other words, the essence of magic is not only to change things into nothing, but also to change things back that have not been there. In the realm of storytelling, it allows readers to overturn their own views on the story, and can rely on the previous foreshadowing to make readers re-establish a new view that is not lost to the previous one.

What level of dishonesty is considered a demonic exercise? For example, this time, I made a narrative trick at the end, and everyone must have seen it, but in fact, most of the plot is flashback. It starts with a meeting between Takeo and Xu Fu, and then Xu Fu recalls his first battle with the swordsman, and there is a mindset here that when the memories are over, the reader will think that I am going to start talking about the present, but I didn't do that. This is also the cunning of the family, everyone should pay more attention in the future and don't be deceived.

However, this narrative ruse is not only to surprise the reader, but also to allow the reader to compare the characters of the swordsman and the martial artist in the vicinity, rather than the swordsman who sees the ending, but has forgotten the beginning of the martial arts. For this purpose, I also deliberately suppressed the "words that Takeo wants to say to the Facelings" first and put it at the end to create a contrasting effect. This level of conspiracy should still be forgivable, right?

In contrast, the reversal of the second episode is not a commendable design. The ending of that story was Xu Fu waking up from a dream within a dream, and I copied and pasted this ending to the beginning during the design stage, creating an effect that echoes from beginning to end.

The beginning and end echo itself is a ruse, intended to surprise the reader and point to the question at the same time – but the problem is that the title itself has no other meaning than "there should be a title here". So in the end, it's just to surprise the reader. looks very powerful, the core is still a third-rate story, which is not enough. At the time, I was even complacent about this cleverness, but I was shy to look back.

4

I've noticed a lot of readers asking: Why aren't there any demon slaying experts in it?

For this reason, I prepared a lie - since Cthulhu is not the central deity, as a demon suppressor with Cthulhu element, it doesn't matter.

And then the truth is spoken.

I mentioned it in my testimonial, and it's also my second discarded title. But a long time ago, even when I hadn't even decided on the subject matter, the setting, and the main character, the title of the book appeared in my documents as a high-priority preparation.

Why, because the title of this book is quite a panacea. No matter what the theme, what setting, or what the protagonist is, as long as there is a bad guy, then I can put the medal of demon suppression expert on his head.

Of course, now that it's all written to this point, then maybe there will be a real demon slaying expert in the future, I think......

……

……

……

Q: Why is it that in China, the swordsman is not only a name, but even a face and age, which is never described?

A: I've been aware for a long time that the faces and names of the characters in the story, their ages, etc., are just decorations. In many cases, even the stripping of these decorative garments does not affect the essence of the author's portrayal of the character at all. I've been told by readers that I portray a "Faceling" other than the protagonist in every episode, and the Faceling in this episode is undoubtedly a swordsman. Although he was not given a face and a name and age by me, I think his image has penetrated into the reader's heart. And this is exactly what I want to convey to the reader through this character: when you really remember the image of a character, it is neither because he has a beautiful face, nor because he has a handsome name, nor because of his age and other irrelevant decorations - only the impressive soul is the real flesh and blood of the character. If the reader can understand this, my story is not in vain. In today's online society, which favors appearance over connotation, exaggerated and contemptuous, others may use "it has always been like this" to perfunctory about this phenomenon, but I have to muster up the courage to resist it. That's what I'm trying to make with this theme – even if it's "always been that way", it's not necessarily true. In the future, I will continue to hold on to the pen and bravely fight against this increasingly pompous online society that only values whitewashing, and I ask like-minded readers to continue to support me. Your voice is my strength. Thank you.

Q: What is the truth?

A: I forgot to write it.
