14 Facelings (XI)

There are two types of factors that determine the "strength" of a psyker, namely "psionic strength" and "imagery intensity".

The former is well understood, so there is no need to say more.

The latter is mainly explained here.

When a psyker activates psionic energy, he must cooperate with the "image".

The so-called image can be simply and crudely understood as the image that emerges in the consciousness of a person after imagining a certain concept. If the psyker imagines the flame in his mind and activates his psionic energy, then the flame will appear; On the other hand, if he imagines the image of the "flame disappearing" of the flame that has already appeared, and at the same time activates the psionic energy, then the flame in front of him will disappear.

And so on: if the psionic imagines wind or electricity, gravitational or repulsion, decomposition or recombination...... Then these phenomena will appear in reality.

In other words, what the psionics really possess is actually the power to "tamper with reality with psionic energy".

It sounds quite powerful, but it would be difficult to really do something as powerful as it is literally described, otherwise I would not have been able to defeat psionics with my physical body.

The requirements of psionic imagery are both special and profound.

"Particular" means that since the human soul is abstract, and the power of the soul, that is, "psionic energy", is also an abstract nature, the image produced by the psyker when driving the psychic energy must also be abstract rather than figurative. In other words, if the psionic wants to form a flame with psionic energy, but has an image of the flame in his mind, then no matter how clear the image is, it will be useless. Only by imagining an abstract flame can the conditions for "spiritual responsiveness to imagery" be initially achieved.

"Deep" means that it is not enough to imagine an abstract flame casually, but that the image must be concentrated and strong enough for the psionic energy to be recognized with great difficulty, like that of a discerning eater.

The easiest image for psionics to achieve is to strengthen the functions of their human body, such as the strength of the limbs, the strength of the body, the sensitivity of the senses, and so on. The "manipulation of flames" mentioned earlier is a power that the human body itself does not have, so it must go through a long period of training, and it must have this part of the talent itself before it has a chance to master it.

Sometimes, psykers who are spiritually different from ordinary people are more likely to draw abstract concepts in their minds. The reason why Hasegawa has some more abilities at this time is probably because he is crazy.

The Sheepskin Killer is also the kind of imposter who has not been able to master psionic armor for a long time, and should not have been able to learn psionic armor and feigning art quickly, but perhaps it was his crazy mind that fueled his extra talent that allowed him to easily learn psionic armor. As for the pretense, in retrospect, perhaps it was the mysterious organization that had prepared it according to his insane symptoms, otherwise he would not have taught him the anachronistic spell that was as anachronistic as drilling wood for fire in a modern kitchen.

However, madness is not only good for psykers.

The damage is even greater and irreversible.

"Faceling, if you want to do it, you'd better hurry." Adam stared at Hasegawa tightly, "Otherwise, he may become a monster in a long time." ”

"Of course I do." I responded while observing Hasegawa's dynamics.

If, in some cases, the psyker loses the perception that he or she is a human, or actively imagines that he is not a human, then the psyker may respond to this image and turn the psyker into a real monster.

Therefore, the more crazy the psyker, the more powerful and easy it is to lose control.

At this moment, there was a commotion in the corridor, and it seemed that someone had heard the movement and came over to see the excitement.

Two seconds later, a man who appeared to be a male nurse walked into the room and said in a loud voice, "What the hell are you doing here?" Do you know that this is ......" He suddenly swept to Hasegawa, whose face was crazy, like a primary school student suddenly seeing the head teacher when he was having fun, his voice suddenly lowered, "Hospital ......"

Hasegawa fell to the ground on all fours like a real beast, and rushed towards the male nurse as fast as lightning.

It's just that I'm moving a little faster.

I stepped on the floor first and intercepted the middle of the two.

Hasegawa's face changed, as if a speeding tennis ball hit a wall that could not be seen, and his body instantly retreated, returning to his original position, and then looking at me with great fear.

Suddenly, his eyes turned blue, like a pair of pure sapphires, and glowed slightly. I could tell that he was using his psionic energy to temporarily intensify his inspiration. Ordinary people with psionic abilities can only use psionic energy to strengthen their five senses at most, and strengthening inspiration is the ability of spiritual mediums. He's on the spot right now divining what I'm going to do in the next few seconds, trying to find out where my flaws are.

This is also the difficulty of the medium, which I have fought with in the past, an enemy who has always been able to predict my movements in an uncanny way, slippery as a loach to avoid my killer blows, and like a cunning snake to grasp my fleeting flaws.

The male nurse fell to the ground in fright, as if asking me and herself, "What's going on...... Is he a psyker? Why are there psyker patients in hospitals...... And it looks crazy......"

Psykers generally do not get sick. Even if you are sick, you don't need to see a doctor, and you will be cured. His doubts are understandable.

But neither Adam nor I, nor Hasegawa, did we pay any attention to the doctor's words.

I didn't take the lead in attacking Hasegawa, so as not to expose more flaws when I attacked. The direction of the battle at this moment depends on what Hasegawa will do next.

I don't know how many futures Hasegawa sees, what each one is, and what he seems to be calculating at high speed. However, this kind of calculation is not like a human in rational thinking, but more like a cheetah with vertical pupils, lurking in the grass, patiently calculating when to pounce on the deer as its prey, and what posture to use to bite the deer's throat when pounced. He was full of this bestial coldness at the moment.

Suddenly, he closed his eyes, as if he had a bamboo in his chest.

He had undoubtedly figured out where my flaws were. I tensed my muscles and prepared for his attack.

Unexpectedly, in the next second, he did not attack my unknown flaw, but suddenly turned his body, like a frog that is good at bouncing, and leaped towards the window.

There was a sudden explosion, and he smashed through the window pane and fell to the ground from the height of the third floor.

I immediately rushed to the windowsill and looked down, but I could only see the frightened crowd downstairs, not the fleeing Hasegawa.

I had to roll over the ledge and jump to the ground below. As long as I have a good grasp of the cushioning position when I land, this height is still very easy for me, and it is said that some "jumping enthusiasts" have a record of jumping down from a much higher place than me at this time, but they are completely gone. But when I landed, I looked around and couldn't find any trace of Hasegawa. It was as if his body had evaporated in the air during the landing.

After a while, Adam also ran out of the main entrance of the inpatient department.

As soon as she saw me standing still, she understood the end of the matter and sighed.

"I'm sorry to let him run." At this point, I had no choice but to admit my defeat.

Of course, it is embarrassing to admit failure, and it feels hot to even say it.

But not even admitting defeat will only make yourself even more embarrassed.

"It's not your fault." She shook her head, "We've all been deceived by his crazy performance. Just now he should not be calculating his 'how to defeat you', but how to escape from you'. He must know that he will not be able to predict the future of defeating you no matter what, even if he becomes stronger than before. And since he had completed the calculation just now, it meant that he had found a route that would definitely be able to escape. ”

"Even so, it's my fault." I said, "The clue to the sheepskin killer was lost in my hands; Hasegawa's madness is also the main cause of me. Although I offered to join you in the investigation of the mysterious organization, it ended up being a complete help. ”

"Who would have thought things would turn out this way?" She didn't show any negativity, but teased me, "In this way, you really look a bit like an undercover agent of the mysterious organization that broke into our team." ”

I was dumbfounded for a moment, and then said, "Hasegawa's suspicions about me are not unfounded, don't you doubt me?" ”

"I believe that there are no real accidents in this world, but I believe more in the conclusions I have come to after thinking about it." She said, "So, I believe you're a partner." ”

Although I don't know if she is talking on the table or in the truth, but if it is the latter, it is really mixed.

Let's just assume she's telling the truth, so that she can feel a little more comfortable.

I let out a long breath full of mixed thoughts and said, "Thank you." ”

"It's a matter of course that partners trust each other, so why thank you?" She smiled cleanly, then thought to herself, "That being said, it's time to calculate your future plans. ”

"Do you have any ideas?" I asked.

"That's not true, I can only start again from the stage of gathering intelligence." She struck a helpless pose.

"In that case, can you do me a small favor?"

"Tell me if I can do it."

At this time, there was a cheering from the first floor of the inpatient department, and several staff members were rushing here, as if to ask what was going on with us.

I glanced there and then looked back and asked, "Do you know how to drive?" ”

"Yes." She just retracted her gaze.

"That's good."

"What do you want me to help you?"

"I need you to help me carry some materials." I said, "And I'm going to go down that street and do a simple finishing touch on the effects of killing the sheepskin killer in the first place." ”

*

There were a lot of materials needed for this finishing work, and in order to move them, Adam simply drove a truck.

She sat in the driver's seat, while I sat in the passenger seat, and the two of them made their way down the road to the deserted side street under the blazing sunset.

"As much as I'd love to let you play while I don't ask anything, like I'm watching a movie and asking others not to spoil it, ......," Adam said, steering the wheel with a curious look on his face, "I really can't help but ask, how exactly are you going to deal with those horrible 'after-effects'?" ”

"Set up a simple ritual, isolate the space, and keep the leaking effects in a small space." I said, "You can understand that there's a very smelly, well, substance ...... there."

Adam interjected: "When you use the unit of measurement 'lum', I already know what you want to say, and I don't have to change it to a more considerate word like 'matter'. ”

I turned a deaf ear and continued, "I'm going to make an airtight lid to seal the stench of the leaking substance, so that there will be no more animals like Hasegawa's 'sense of smell' in the surrounding area, which will be smoked and lost their minds several kilometers away." ”

"I see, but you're still going to set up the ceremony?" She asked.

"I always will."

"But I've never heard of it."

"Because I rarely set up ceremonies on site. What can be solved directly with fists is not necessary to be solved with rituals. Besides, the enemy won't give me a chance to set up the ceremony on the spot. I said, "Sometimes I set up the ceremony in advance or prepare props with ritual effects, but I had a partner who was in charge of supporting me, and everyone thought he was supporting me. ”

She asked tentatively, "That partner, is it ......?"

"Have you eaten?" I quickly switched up a topic.

"Nope." She answered honestly.

"As it happens, neither do I. Then let's find a place to have a meal together. "I make a suggestion.

She nodded.

After a while, we came to the street, which was still five hundred meters away, and entered an ordinary small restaurant.

All the dishes were photographed and posted on a wall for customers to choose from.

I found a seat and sat down, and she ran to the wall where there was a photo, and a man who looked like a lady walked up to her and asked "how many", and she said "two".

As you speak, you choose the dishes.

Suddenly, my phone vibrate.

When I opened it, it was the drone that sent a text message, saying that it had sent all the "information on Adam's true identity" that he had collected before to my email and asked me to check it.

I looked up at Adam, who didn't know anything about it, and then logged into my mailbox on my phone to check the information about her real person.

After just a few glances, all the doubts about Adam in my mind were gone.
