Chapter XVII: Abduction
Arthur hasn't gotten much else so far, and his son (godson) already has a wife, and if he continues to accept it like this, the name of American Whitebeard will not be able to escape.
Against people like Montolo, the carrot and stick method is still very effective, and after getting the promise of the family boss, his whole spirit is better. The previous hesitation disappeared completely, and his mind was already planning how to kill Tony first, and how to integrate the family business later.
Of course, Arthur will not completely give up control of the Luciano family, but he does not want to personally participate in the management and specific affairs of the family. With the help of Russell and Abramo, he is not afraid of Montolo's backlash, and the strength of the family will be a good help for him in the future. Arthur has to build his own business and find all the remaining playing cards.
He had a strong sense of crisis in his heart, and he felt that behind the playing cards, there was a force pushing him. He had to find that power and figure out what was going on, and the process wasn't enough for him alone. Collecting all the cards and finding the right person is the most straightforward way to find out the facts.
Thinking in his heart, Russell drove to Tony Luciano's mansion, which was also Arthur's home.
This is a villa located in the North Shore of Long Island in the town of Oyster Bay in the Jacory District, which is a medium-sized settlement in Nassau County with more than 4,000 households. The security here has always been very good, and the educational resources are abundant, which is the first choice for many wealthy and not particularly wealthy families.
The gang bosses are in such a position, they are certainly much richer than the average middle-class family, but they are an order of magnitude worse than the real capitalist rich. As you can see from the size of this villa, it is not very large, with two floors, a spire, a classical Mediterranean style, and a pale pink façade, which is quite warm under the light of the street lamps. There is a garden with a swimming pool, the landscape trees are well manicured around the iron fence, and near the pool there is a four-flowering tree full of white and pink flowers, which matches the color of the villa's exterior wall.
Outsiders will not know that the owner of this cozy garden villa has been the mansion of the leader of the Luciano family, one of the five major families in New York for a long time.
Arthur remembers that when he was a child, there were servants in the house, and there would be parties in the evenings, and Luthor invited his friends, business associates, and some official figures to drink and talk by the pool, in the living room, and many shady things were done here. Of course, that was in the '70s, when the gang business was cracked down on by the government, income plummeted, and when Tony bought the house back, the servants were fired and gatherings were scarce. Everyone is careful about public contact with gangs, and they don't want to be photographed by the FBI of having dealings with gang bosses.
Now, Tony's home has a maid, an old housekeeper and two bodyguards. Tony had a wife when he was younger, who died at an early age, and he has been celibate ever since. The two have a daughter in San Francisco. He had several properties in Manhattan and had two lovers, but according to Russell, Tony didn't live with his lovers much. Many times, the lover is more like a brooch on a dress for him, which would feel strange if not worn. He would take his lover to some gatherings and events, and give gifts and money enough, but he rarely went to live with them, and did not bring them back to his mansion.
Arthur was a little skeptical that Tony was an old glass, and the role of a lover was to decorate the cover.
Russell parked the car on the side of the road outside the courtyard, turned back to Arthur and said, "Arthur, Montolo and I got Tony in the car. β
Arthur nodded, let Russell and Montolo get out of the car, and himself bent down in the back seat, waiting patiently.
Montolo got out of the car with Russell and walked to the gate of the courtyard, Montolo was still a little nervous, he didn't know Russell's plan. And he didn't expect Arthur to stay in the car alone, wasn't he afraid that he and Russell would go to Tony and sell him to him? But Montolo did not dare to tell Russell about this idea, and he sensed that Russell had an absolute loyalty and trust in Arthur, which he could not see in Tony.
Russell rang the doorbell, and while waiting, Montolo couldn't help but whisper, "What shall we say later?" How do you get Tony out? β
Russell glanced at Montolo and said coldly, "Abramo is not dead. β
"What?" Montolo thought that Abramo was dead, and he was still thinking about how to divide the property of New Jersey after becoming the head of the family, who knew that this fierce jackal was still alive. If he knew that Abramo, like Russell, had "submitted" to Arthur, he was afraid that his jaw would drop in shock.
At this time, the door opened, and the two entered the courtyard, and two bodyguards came out to greet them. Tony's bodyguards are all arranged by Russell and are changed every six months to ensure safety.
Russell asked, "The boss hasn't slept yet, has he?" β
One of the bodyguards replied: "No, he was in the cellar and he asked anyone not to disturb him." β
"There's something very important, call him and say Russell."
There is a sake brewery under the house, and in addition to storing fine wine, there are various living facilities that can be used as a temporary refuge. It was built during the Cold War in the 60s, so it was designed to be a refuge after a nuclear war. There is an internal telephone in the cellar and an outside connection, and the bodyguard immediately enters the house and calls Tony when he hears the news.
Russell and Montolo waited in the living room, the maid and the old housekeeper had already slept, except for the two bodyguards, the cook, the cleaners, etc., were all hourly workers hired from the housekeeping company, and the whole house seemed empty and lonely at night. Montolo felt a little agitated and paced back and forth on the edge of the carpet, the minutes of waiting made him feel like hours had passed.
For him, tonight was a coup d'Γ©tat, and he went from a minister who wanted to show loyalty to the former prince to a rebel who wanted to fight back and help the prince take revenge, and was promised a great throne. Montolo was not Russell, he was a living man, and even if he had made up his mind to be on Arthur's side, he was still nervous.
Finally, there was a "squeak" of the door opening next door, and Tony came up from the cellar, and he entered the living room, where he saw Montolo and Russell, his expression full of doubt.
"Russell, Montolo? What's the urgency? Tony's expression was very unhappy, and he spread his hands towards the two of them, interrogating them in a rather stern voice, apparently their arrival disturbing some of his Yaxing.
Russell got up from the couch and said, "I got the news, Abramo is not dead. β
Tony frowned and muttered to himself, "What? Not dead? How so? β
He asked Russell urgently, "Didn't you kill him with your own hands?" Could it be that Arthur kid is a liar? β
Russell replied: "In addition to us, there was a group of people who tried to kill Abramo, and the killers shot at Abramo's house on the construction truck, but not Abramo, it was his lover who was killed." β
Tony's whole body began to fire when he heard the news, and he paced back and forth on the carpet like Montolo just did. Instead, Montolo calmed down, went to the wine cabinet and poured a glass of wine, sandwiched two pieces of ice, and handed it to Tony. Tony took a sip of the glass and asked sharply, "Where's Kathy?" Where's Casey? β
Russell replied, "Casey went back to Manhattan to prepare, and he said the war might start again. He asked Montolo and I to come and pick you up back to Manhattan and stay in the private house for a while. Here you will be more dangerous. β
This is Russell's argument to coax Tony away, but he is actually the safest in this mansion. The security in Jacco is very good, and the people who live there are either rich or expensive, and in the event of a major murder, the police and the investigation bureau will definitely intervene with all their might. There are surveillance probes everywhere, the flow of people is low, outsiders can easily notice, and the probability of assassination here is very small.
But Tony was obviously carried away by the news that Abramo was not dead, he thought that everything was okay and he could have a peaceful birthday, but he didn't expect that not only did he not kill the thorn in his eye, but instead expanded the situation. Abramo, who was assassinated and died with his lover, will definitely take revenge like crazy, and his life will not be easy in the future. Thinking of this, he could no longer calm down to judge whether Russell's advice was correct or not, he trusted Russell, and he trusted Casey, and the two right-hand men said so, of course he had to make a decision.
"I'll change my clothes and leave with you right away. Oh yes, the cellar... Forget it, let old Larry take care of it, I'll call him tomorrow. After Tony finished speaking, he went upstairs to the cloakroom to change his clothes, hurried downstairs, and left the house with Russell and Montolo. Until he got into the car, he didn't have the slightest suspicion. In fact, if he had been more careful, he should have been able to detect Montolo's nervousness.
Montolo didn't say a word from beginning to end, didn't report to him about killing Arthur, he poured Tony a glass of wine and a drink for himself, just to calm his nervous mind.
The three of them walked up to Russell's Toyota Camry, and Tony complained, "Why don't you drive the car in?" Damn, I still have to walk for such a while, and I have to be careful when I get in and out of the car in the future, TM. "For these black bosses, getting in and out of the car is a high-risk moment of being ambushed, and they will always be extremely cautious and look left and right. But Tonivan would not have imagined that the Grim Reaper was hiding in the car, in the back seat of the car.
Arthur was lying in the dark, and as soon as Tony opened the door and was halfway inside, he jerked up and grabbed Tony's arm and pulled him in! Tony reacted quickly, he sensed something was wrong, and grabbed the door frame with his other hand to break free, but Montolo rushed to unscrew Tony's hand, covered Tony's mouth and pushed him into the car. He followed himself into the car and closed the door with a "bang".
Russell immediately started the car, stepped on the accelerator to the end, and the tires made a sharp "creaking" sound, and sped in the direction of Oyster Bay.
