Chapter 9: Minor Problems in Potions Class
The next morning, Maca was the first to wake up.
He himself couldn't figure it out, why he woke up so early when he didn't fall asleep until late at night last night. He was thinking, this probably had something to do with Luna's little girl! When he stayed at her house, he would face all kinds of wake-up methods every morning, but the little girl who looked in a trance seemed to be enjoying it. Unconsciously, he has developed the "bad habit" of waking up at the end of the day.
Starting today, classes are coming.
Most of Hufflepuff's classes are with Ravenclaw, and accordingly, Gryffindor's classes are with Slytherins. This has the advantage of being less grumpy in places where Harry Potter isn't available.
"Now for the roll call ......"
Snape was still the same oil-in-a-salt look, and there was never a smile on his face. He read the names on the roll call one by one with a straight face, without even looking at the students. When he finished the roll call, he glanced at the students with his cold, empty black eyes, and in his eyes Maca saw a look that was somewhat similar to that of the homeless people on the streets of Topoint who had lost their lives and dreams.
"Nope." Maca secretly denied in her heart, "Compared to the vagabond, his eyes are more ...... More thoroughly, almost like the eyes of a dead man, cold, hollow, full of life. ”
Having lived in the dark world of England for so long as a child, Maca relied on disguise for herself and the means to figure out the psychology of others. But now, Maca found that he couldn't get any information from Snape, which gave him the idea of staying away from the man for the first time.
"Leaving the unknown danger is the most effective means of protecting yourself." In the dark world, this wise saying has always been circulated.
"Mr. McLean, what do you seem to think differently about my remarks?" Just as Maca stared into Snape's eyes, the other looked at him as if he had noticed something, and then said with a frown.
"Oh no, I mean, I'm a big fan of Potions course, but the theory involved is very complex. I really hope that you, Professor Snape, will be able to help me answer some of the questions I had in the preparation. ”
In a hurry, Maca was held hostage by the idea he had just had, and rarely confessed. However, he does have a lot of questions that he wants to get answers to in authority, so he can't be said to be talking nonsense.
Yesterday in the Hufflepuff common room, Maca asked Senior Darren a lot about the various professors. Speaking of Snape, although almost none of his students liked him, his achievements in the two disciplines of Potions and Charms were undeniable.
Just looking at his title of "Potions Master", which is recognized by the International Federation of Magicians and awarded by the British Ministry of Magic, is enough to give him his own place in the global wizarding world. In the book "Advanced Potions Making", there are many methods of preparing potions that he has improved, although no one is aware of this at the moment.
Snape, however, had no appreciation for Marka's words, and he smiled coldly—if that was a laugh, and said in a contemptuous tone, "Oh? Is it? Let's talk about it, but if it's just some boring questions, then Hufflepuff will probably have to deduct points. I repeat that students are not welcome to ask questions in my class! ”
Maka couldn't help but swallow when she heard this. Fortunately, the other Hufflepuff classmates didn't seem to care about the deduction, but were looking at him with worried eyes, as if the safety of their classmates was much more important than the house score.
Maca glanced around, and while breathing a sigh of relief, she couldn't help but feel a little good about this academy. It was only now that he had the first feeling that "it didn't seem good to be sorted into Hufflepuff".
"Ahem," he cleared his throat to calm himself, and then he asked one of the most confusing questions he had encountered when reading the book "Magic Potions and Potions".
"Professor Snape, when I was previewing the part of the sleeping pill, I found that one of the quantitative constants in the formula was not exactly stated in the actual proportioning process, which puzzled me. I'm not sure if I'm getting it wrong. Maca's brow furrowed as she spoke, the most obvious sign of his involvement.
When discussing what he cares about, he usually forgets his environment and the person he is talking to, which is a bad habit for him.
Fortunately, Snape didn't show any impatience for this, and he stared at Maca for a moment before he spoke.
"I'll talk about sleeping pills later, and as long as you listen carefully, you won't ask this kind of question again." Snape said coldly, and then stopped looking at Maca, but turned and tapped his wand on the blackboard, which immediately showed lines of text and formulas.
"Sit down, you can sit down." Enie, who was sitting next to her, pulled Ramaka's sleeve and whispered, "I didn't expect that! I've heard that Professor Snape is one of the strictest professors at Hogwarts, and he says that points will be deducted from him, and he will never be retained! ”
Maca didn't rejoice in this, he really cared about that question!
The two Potions classes were finished in the basement classroom, and after Professor Snape said the word "end", the students couldn't wait to leave. In this classroom, there was no one but a large number of animal organ specimens and a always grim-looking Snape, and the whole classroom was filled with an unpleasant atmosphere.
"That quantitative constant is useless, it's a historical mistake." As Maca passed by the door, he saw Snape standing outside the door, and after saying that, he strode away.
Marca looked at Snape's back and felt his large cloak spread in the wind as he walked, like a large bat that could walk. He couldn't help but laugh at that image.
"It doesn't seem to be as difficult to communicate as it seems." Maca thought to himself.
Of course, it's not as simple as Maca thinks. The reason why Snape waited at the door and left this answer was actually because Maca's question happened to be one of the opportunities for Snape to become addicted to Potions. In other words, Snape also had this question when he was a student.
As for this coincidence that is not a coincidence, Maca would never have thought of it at the moment.
Next to the Potions class was Professor Quirrell's Defence Against the Dark Arts class, which had some fat on the back of his head, but that class was not much to say. In addition to Professor Quirrell himself, who smelled of garlic and stammered, the empty and boring content of the course was also quite sad.
Maca really didn't understand how a person could tell the story of the resurrected zombie so stumbling and suspicious, I heard that Quirrell was a good student when he was a student.
Potions and Defence Against the Dark Arts classes, which barely covered anything useful, were the Charms class that interested Maca the most.
Although the professor was short in stature because of his pedigree, he was a good professor who deserved everyone's respect.
In his class, there are no strict requirements, and the students can even move freely, even if the students joke with him, he will not have any complaints.
However, when Professor Flitwick explained to Maca in detail the maddening questions he had encountered in his book "Theory of Magic", Maca immediately became in awe of the professor.
The dueling champion of the year was really not a cover, and the application of his insights and skills gave Maca a different understanding of the basic theory of magic in this world, and after several explanations, it was like opening a new door for Maca.
"Thank you, Honorable Professor Flitwick." Maca always had a genuine respect for the person to whom she imparted her knowledge.
Professor Flitwick smiled and patted Maca's arm, which was obviously not easy for him to reach someone's shoulder, and said kindly, "Don't be so serious, the theory is boring, and you will only have a deeper understanding if you cooperate with practical application." Still, you're the most profound student in the new class of Charms, and you're as good as Miss Granger of Gryffindor. ”
Later, Maca learns some information about Hermione from Professor Flitwick. When he heard Hermione's range of study, he couldn't help but shake his head and smile wryly - she had read too many books, which was not good for understanding and application.
In Maca's view, only by thoroughly understanding the foundation can we lay the most solid foundation for further study and research. Even a genius needs to come step by step, not to mention that he knows very well that he is not a genius, and Hermione probably will not be.
As for the remaining classes, what Maca hated the most was not the history of magic, which most of her classmates hated the most, but the astronomical observations every Wednesday night, which was the norm in astronomy class. Asking Maca to say that, apart from the knowledge of magic inside, the means of observation, recording, and calculation were far inferior to the Muggle Sect's research on this aspect.
On top of that, this course is not very useful in today's wizarding world. This makes pragmatists like Maca extremely painful about this course.
"Hey, I heard you refuted Snape's theory in class, is that true?"
In the herb class, everyone was fertilizing some harmless and mild healthy plants in the first greenhouse, when suddenly Ron leaned over and asked Maca with great interest.
Maca noticed that not far away, Hermione, who was holding a small shovel, seemed to be paying her attention to this side as well, and it seemed that she was also concerned about the issue.
