Chapter 5: The Great Rift Valley in the Night
Rein came out of the broken cage, and the dwarves in the valley were so frightened that they fled, hiding, and not coming back for a while. But this is their camp, and they will appear at any time, and they must take advantage of this golden opportunity to get out of here.
When Rein came out of the cage, he felt like he had survived the catastrophe, and the feeling of regaining his freedom and regaining his life came to his heart, giving him an experience that he had never experienced before. This will be the first ray of hope imprinted in his heart in the face of all the insurmountable difficulties in the future - never give up, because you will not know what will come in the next second. Maybe it's the despair that comes to you, or it may be the hope of desperate survival, when fate tries to kill you, hold fate by the throat tightly, struggle to the end, and the turnaround may emerge in the next second.
Rein turned to look at the creature that had scared the big black bear away, and found that its dirty fur spontaneously glowed with a faint and invisible white light in the darkness, and it smelled of nothingness and dreaminess.
Rein didn't know what the creature was, but he came to the clear conclusion in his mind - "It shouldn't be trapped here." β
Though his feet were desperate to escape from this dangerous place, the unstoppable thought prompted Rein to pick up a stone axe from the ground and cut it at the cage that trapped the creature.
The door to the cage opened, and the creature weakly looked up at Rein.
It seemed that it had used up the little strength it had left to scare away the big black bear just now, and it was extremely weak at this time, but Rein could still see the haughty bearing and indomitable will in its deep eyes.
"You just saved my life, and I'm saving your life now, and we're even." Rein said to the creature lying on the ground, looking as big as a calf. He didn't know why he was talking to it like that, as if it understood, but he had a gut feeling that it did.
"If you can still move, get up and run away with me, but hurry, the dwarves will be back soon."
The wounded noble trapped beast looked at Rein with a pair of big eyes, and in the dark night, making eye contact with Rein in the firelight, it seemed to be a spiritual rhino, and it saw kindness in Rein's eyes.
You can't stay here to be food for the dwarves of the valley.
The trapped beast struggled to get up from its cage, staggering for a few moments, and finally stood still.
Only then did Rein realize that the creature was bigger than it looked when it was lying on the ground, about the size of a pony. Its body was covered with dried blood, tangled black fur, and deep bone scars, I don't know what kind of battle it went through to get hurt like this.
"What kind of creature is it? Wolf? Fox? Dog? Lynx? Neither...... Forget it, just treat it as a big dog. β
Although Rein had an intuition that this "big dog" would not, and he was not capable of harming himself for the time being, he instinctively walked away a little in the face of a strange injured large trapped beast. He walked in front of him, so that he could lead the way for the "big dog".
Thinking of the dwarves of the valley who would appear at any moment, Rein picked up a long-handled stone spear from the ground, even though he had never fought before, and having a weapon in hand would give him a little more security.
Rein walked to the exit of the camp that had been damaged by the bears, looked out to make sure there were no dwarves in the valley, and turned back to beckon to the "big dog" to follow.
But the "big dog" walked straight in front of something and looked down and sniffed.
Rein is angry at the "big dog's" untimely movements, and now he is racing against time to escape, but he is looking for food?!
Rein was about to say something when he noticed that the "big dog" had opened the thingβit was the bag on the Dwarven Elder of the Valley, which had fallen to the ground during the Great Black Bear's raid. The "big dog" broke the bag, and the contents were scattered, including a stone the size of an egg, glowing with a ghostly light.
"Big Dog" didn't ask for anything else, but ate the glowing stone.
"Eating stones?" Rein was dumbfounded, then relieved. This is a different world, there are big black bears more than three meters tall, dwarfs eat everything, there are lynxes that can breathe magic cannons, there is a "big white dog" as big as a foal, there are so many strange things, it is not surprising that such a small thing as eating a stone is not surprising. I guess that stone should be some kind of power stone, and eating it will restore its energy.
Sure enough, after eating the glowing stone, the fur on the "big dog" glowed a little brighter than before, and it looked much better overall, not as weak as before.
The "big dog" raised his head and looked at Lei Yin, the light in his eyes made Lei Yin snort softly, and at a glance, he knew that he had recovered a lot of energy, and now he was more energetic.
The "big dog" then walked up, and its right hind leg and left front leg should have been injured, and it was limping when it walked. But it was very tall, and it took a lot more steps than Rein, and it was in front of Rein at once.
When Rein saw that it could go, he thought to himself, he didn't have to lead the way, just follow it, it looked like it could at least fight the dwarves of the valley now.
The "big dog" walked up to Rein, and Rein was just about to speak, when a voice suddenly sounded in his head, yes, in his head, not through his ears.
"Human, thank you for your rescue, I'm the Phantom Beast Xlain." The voice was gentle and majestic, genderless, and had a hazy and mysterious flavor.
Rein stared at this "big dog" with wide eyes, but he didn't expect it to be a phantom beast. Wounds and dirty blood obscure its brilliance. From its large, deep eyes, Rein was sure that it had some kind of connection with himself, so he could receive its message.
"Well, no thanks, it's just a gesture, my name is Rhine......" Ray said, he doesn't use his mind to deliver the message, so he can only say it out loud.
Phantom Beast Kerryn continued to send him a message with his mind: "Rein, I will always remember this name. I have been mortally wounded and nearly killed in battle with a powerful enemy, and if it were not for your presence, I would have been the food for the dwarves of the valley for tomorrow. After refining that magic crystal, I barely regained a little strength. I can't feel the magic from your body, the Black Forest Rift is too dangerous for even the weakest dwarves in the valley to kill you, you need to get out of here quickly. β
Rein listened to it and said, "I want to leave too, it's just ......"
Before Rein could finish speaking, Kslane's voice suddenly became rapid, sounding in his head: "Be careful, the enemy is approaching." β
Rein looked around, only to see the shadow of the Great Rift Valley in the dark, and nothing out of the ordinary. He was wondering when the sound of a large number of creatures rapidly approaching the wind suddenly came from all directions.
It was not the valley dwarves, but the unknown creatures that were far more powerful and terrifying than the valley dwarves, ten times more terrifying, and they quickly approached this way from the ground and the stone walls.
"What's that?" Rein suddenly changed color, and asked in a trembling voice.
"That's an alarmed predator, ride on my back."
The voice of the Phantom Beast Kerryn became solemn, and Rein saw a pair of red, blue, and white eyes light up in the darkness, staring at them on the ground around the Great Rift, and he hurriedly threw away the stone spear that seemed to be useless, and climbed onto the body of the Phantom Beast Klein, these creatures that appeared out of nowhere made him feel creepy.
"The Great Rift Valley by day and the Great Rift Valley by night are two completely different worlds, hold on to it!"
After saying that, the phantom beast Kslane moved his four claws and began to run forward.
When the predators around them saw that their prey was moving, they immediately became restless, and their glowing eyes were like ghost fires in the darkness, casting a cold light in the air.
Rein clung to the fur behind Kerryne's back, not caring about the bloody sludge. The creatures that can make phantom beasts dignified are certainly not easy opponents like the dwarves of the valley.
The phantom beast Kslane ran, the cold wind suddenly blew rapidly, and the trees and rocks on both sides quickly swept in the corner of his eye, and the speed of his running caught Rein off guard, and he almost let go of his hand and fell down. Rein crouched on Kelselean's back, smelling the congealed blood on it, and suddenly remembered that it was badly wounded, but only temporarily regained a little energy, and he clung to it, and heard it gasping for breath in pain from behind it. The injured limbs limited its movement, but it struggled to run.
Kslane ran fast underneath the Rift Valley, surrounded by predators who were speeding behind him. Some predators have more speeds, catapulting from the stone walls of the Great Rift and swooping down from the ground to attack Kslane.
Keeping his vigilance on the run, his eyes catching enemies coming from both sides, he deftly twisted his body and redirected his run to avoid waves of surprise attacks.
Rein lay close to his back, feeling the predator's claws slicing across his back several times. If caught, it's the difference between life and death. He didn't dare to catch his breath, and clung to Kellen, praying that the sneak attackers wouldn't catch him.
A ferocious beast pounced, and Kerslane had to lean to the right in order to dodge.
"Wow!" Rein's lying body flew up at once under the action of inertia. Fortunately, his hand was tightly grasped and not thrown out, and he took pity on the fur of Axlein, who was picked up by Rein, who even heard Axlein's muffled grunt.
Rein landed back on Kelselean's back, his feet clinging to his back so that he wouldn't be thrown away again. The predators around are becoming more and more ferocious, and the situation is extremely critical.
"Hold on, I'm going to speed up."
In order to get rid of these swarming predators, Kerryn must speed out of this predicament, or they will all die here.
Ray grabbed Kerryn tightly, and then Klein sped out like an arrow off the string.
