Chapter 293: The ups and downs of growth
"Hermione, sit down first!"
Maca took Hermione back to the study, and he sat down on the couch first.
Truth be told, the members of the Order of the Phoenix knew that Maca had always been busy, because every time they came to the study, they would see him burrowing into the "hill" formed by magic books and various documents, busy day and night.
Maca seems to spend a short amount of time sleeping every day, and although people sometimes worry about his physical condition, they get used to it after discovering that he is in good spirits every day.
But at least, if it's okay on weekdays, everyone is used to not being in the study to disturb him.
Hermione hadn't been in a few times since she moved in this holiday season, but every time she came in, the space seemed to be getting "crowded" all the time.
"Do you have more stuff here?" Curious, Hermione picked up a notebook piled up on the couch and flipped through it, only to find that it was full of symbols and formulas that seemed to be understood.
"I think so...... "Marka shrugged, but at least there's a place to sit, don't worry about messing up, and it's okay to push it away." β
"I think that's messy enough!" Hermione said dissatisfiedly, "Won't you clean it up?" β
"They're neat in my heart." Maca smiled and said, "Let's not talk about that...... Actually, I was planning to talk to you a long time ago, and it was an opportunity to talk to you! β
"Opportunity?" Hermione wondered, "I mean I saw through your lies?" β
"No," Maka shook her head, "I mean, I want Harry to make a choice...... Speaking of which, you, me, Harry, Ron, and of course the other classmates. β
"Of these people, you are the only one I think is the smartest."
Hermione blushed at hearing that Maca was so rare to praise her, but immediately raised her head proudly.
"Really?" A look of joy appeared at the corners of her mouth.
"Of course it's true! Your strengths are obvious, smart and hardworking, meticulous in your studies...... But, again, your shortcomings are obvious β you're not very good at understanding things that lack logic, right? β
"Ohβit seems that it is indeed so, after you say so!" Hermione scratched at her messy hair in frustration.
"Because of this, you can quickly memorize all kinds of magical knowledge, but you can't delve deeper into it. This is because most of the knowledge about magic requires 'imagination' and 'perception'......"
Before she knew it, Maca was guiding Hermione into a state of "listening", and the time gradually passed, and soon it was time for dinner.
When Hermione unconsciously glanced at the wall clock on the wall, she suddenly came back to her senses.
"Oh! Why do we keep talking about learning and research? "I thought you were going to talk to me about Harry!" β
"There are certain things that Harry needs to deal with on his own," Maca said solemnly, "We have been fighting against Voldemort's return, and you and Harry are the ones I think are the most likely to be the forces that protect everyone......"
"At least there are a lot of people and things I want to protect, and I'm sure so are you, Hermione. So, I hope you can grow up as soon as possible, learn more targeted magical knowledge, and transform them into your own strength. β
"Now that Voldemort is lurking for the time being, we can't be sure when he'll return. Predictably, though, when he reappears in our sights, danger will become everywhere......"
β¦β¦
Harry eventually plucked up the courage to accept Maca's assignment, and while he was still apprehensive about his upcoming trip to the Ministry of Magic, at least he had taken the first step on his own willpower.
At dinner Wednesday night, Mrs. Weasley turned her face and whispered to him, "I've ironed your best clothes, you can put them on tomorrow morning, Harry, and I want you to wash your hair again tonight." A good first impression works wonders. β
When Harry heard this, he felt like a brick had smashed into his heart. Ron, Hermione, Fred, George, and Ginny all stopped talking and looked at him.
"Actually, don't worry too much, Voldemort can't completely infiltrate the entire Ministry of Magic, just calm down and do what I say."
Harry nodded, and tried to continue eating his ribs, but his mouth suddenly became so dry that he couldn't chew it.
"How do I get there?" He struggled to make his voice sound indifferent.
"Arthur will take you with him when he goes to work." Mrs. Weasley said mildly.
Mr. Weasley smiled encouragingly at Harry across the table. "You can stay in my office and wait until the time for the trial is up."
Harry looked at Sirius, but before he could ask, Mrs. Weasley answered.
"Sirius, of course, can't go with you, can he?"
"I think that's very true." Sirius gritted his teeth and thrust his fork into a potato in a sullen manner.
At half past five the next morning, Harry suddenly came to his senses, as if someone had shouted in his ear.
He lay motionless, and slowly, the prospect of going to the Ministry of Magic for trial filled every cell of his brain.
When he felt that he couldn't take it anymore, he simply jumped out of bed and put on his glasses.
Mrs. Weasley had put freshly washed jeans and T-shirts at the foot of his bed, and Harry fumbled to put them on.
Ron lay on his back on all fours, his mouth wide open, and he slept soundly.
Harry walked across the room to the staircase outside the door, slamming the door shut, while Ron on the bed remained unmoved.
He walked down the stairs and into the kitchen below.
He thought there was no one in the kitchen, but as soon as he reached the door, he heard a low voice from behind the door.
He pushed open the door and saw Mr. Weasley, Mrs. Weasley, Sirius, Lupin, and Tonks all sitting there, as if waiting for him.
Maca and Hermione were there, too, and they seemed to be whispering to a few notebooks.
They were all neatly dressed, except for Mrs. Weasley, who wore a purple pajamas. As soon as Harry entered, she stood up.
"Breakfast." As she spoke, she drew her wand and hurried towards the stove.
"Good morning, Harry." Tonks said with a yawn. This morning her hair was blonde and curly languid.
"Did you sleep well?"
"Very good." Harry said.
"I didn't ...... all night Ha...... Didn't sleep. She said, trembling and yawning again, "Come and sit down!" β
She dragged out a chair, only to overturn a nearby chair.
"Tonks, don't you get busy......" Maka teased, looking up, "don't you often complain that you always touch things, and the best thing to do is not to touch them." β
"Can you handle it...... Ha ...... "Tonks doesn't even have the strength to argue, and it seems that he is really sleepy.
"What do you want to eat, Harry?" Mrs. Weasley asked aloud, "Porridge?" Muffins? Fish? Ham and eggs? Bread? β
"I'll have the bread as soon as I go, thank you." Harry said.
Lupin glanced at Harry, then said to Tonks, "What did you say happened to Scrimgeour?" β
"Oh! By the way, that's right...... Ha...... We needed to be a little more careful, and he started asking me and Kingsley some weird questions. Tonks waved his hand.
Maca thought for a moment and admonished, "Pay more attention to whether he shows a trance expression when he doesn't speak, Scrimgeour is still very principled." If he hadn't been controlled by the powerful Imperius Curse, his credibility would still be relatively high. β
"Kingsley thinks so too, but the Imperius Curse isn't easy to see!" Tonks said with a bitter face.
"There's really nothing too good to do, just observe more." Maca shrugged.
They didn't ask Harry to join the conversation, which made him subconsciously relieved, and he had been nervous all along. Mrs. Weasley placed two slices of bread and marmalade in front of him, and he ate them with great effort, chewing wax.
Next to him, Mrs. Weasley sat down on the other side of him and began to care for his T-shirt with extra care. One moment the label is tucked in, the next time the seam on the shoulder is smoothed.
Honestly, Harry wished she hadn't.
Maca seemed to see what he was thinking, and smiled: "You really have to pay attention to your appearance, those guys are very concerned about this, so it would be better for you to pay attention to your words and deeds when the time comes." β
"Maka, I can't be on the night shift tomorrow, I'm too ...... Ha...... I'm so tired. Tonks said, yawning again.
"I'll do it for you," said Mr. Weasley, "I'm fine, I'm going to get a report anyway." β
Instead of wearing wizarding robes, Mr. Weasley wears a pair of pinstriped pants and an old short jacket. He turned his gaze away from Tonks to Harry.
"How are you feeling?"
Harry tilted his head, his heart full of unease, but he really didn't know what to say for a while.
"It's going to be over soon." Mr. Weasley cheered him on, saying, "In a few hours, you'll be nothing...... Don't worry too much about the task, it doesn't have to be done, does it? β
Harry pursed his lips, looked at Maca again, and said nothing.
As Mr. Weasley had said, the task that Maca had given him was not a must-have task, but he felt that it was actually an opportunity that Maca had given him.
An opportunity to break through himself and regain his courage, he actually wants to grasp it firmly.
