Chapter Seventy-Four: Dumbledore's Little Story
When Professor McGonagall found Maca, he was in the greenhouse with Willy, recording the last time the flowers were growing.
"Oh! Mr. McLean, you are here. Professor McGonagall pushed open the door to the greenhouse and immediately said, "Come with me, Dumbledore has something to do with you." β
Maca closed the notebook unhurriedly, and then looked up at the door.
"Yes, Professor McGonagall." With that, he turned to Willy again, and said, "Miss Blois, it seems that I have to leave for a moment. You can go back when you're done, you don't have to wait for me here. β
With that, he sorted out the notebook and followed Professor McGonagall to the Headmaster's office.
Although she had been there several times, Maca had never liked it very much. Every time he faced Dumbledore, there was always an invisible pressure that came over him, and he couldn't let go of it at any time.
Especially this time, he did a lot of things that no one else knew. But just because you can hide it from others doesn't mean you can hide it from Dumbledore as well. In this, the mastery of a "degree" is very important.
Marca waited in the Headmaster's office for a short time before Dumbledore pushed the door open and entered.
"How are you doing?" Dumbledore said lightly, "Would you like some chilled lemonade?" β
"I think that's a good idea." Maca nodded calmly.
When the two of them came face to face, each seated in front of or behind their desks, Dumbledore took the initiative to open up the conversation.
"I guess you must be very concerned, I have something to do with you at this time." Dumbledore said gently, "It's not that complicatedβ"
"I just invited you to come and listen to me tell a little story."
Maca didn't understand what this so-called "little story" had to do with him, but that didn't stop him from being a qualified listener.
"Once upon a time, there was a young wizard who had a happy family and a good life. When he entered Hogwarts to study magic, he discovered his talent and developed a series of aspirations and ideals......"
Dumbledore spoke softly in a soothing voice, as if he was missing something.
Behind his half-moon-shaped glasses, pale blue pupils glowed with a faint glow.
"This little wizard's ideals are simple, but they are also huge. As a young man, he did not yet consider the correctness of this ideal. β
A few years later, the young wizard graduated at Hogwarts with the highest grades...... But his family has had a lot of accidents in the past few years, which has forced him to interrupt his ideals. β
His sister was young at the time, and while she was casting magic, she was attacked by three Muggle boys who saw her display magical abilities. This attack made his sister's spirit very unstable - her magic was out of control. And their father used a spell to get revenge on the Muggle boys...... He took all the blame for his poor daughter to ensure that she was not imprisoned for life in St. Mungo's Hospital for the Wounded and Wounded...... He was sent to Azkaban. β
"After that, their mother moved with them......"
Hearing this, Maca immediately realized that the little wizard in this story was probably Dumbledore himself.
Dumbledore's story continues......
"But the unfortunate thing didn't end there." Dumbledore looked up slightly, and the lenses brightened with the angle of the light, obscuring his slightly distracted eyes.
"When the little wizard's sister was fourteen years old, her magic went berserk again...... This accident brought the mother's life to an abrupt end. At that time, the only one who could stop his sister's magic from going berserk, the little wizard's younger brother, was not at home. β
"At that time, the little wizard was in pain...... It was painful. But it has happened, there is no way to get it back, and life has to go on. He bears the resentment of his younger brother, constantly comforts his self-blaming sister, and takes on this already broken family. β
At this point, Dumbledore was silent for a moment before continuing.
But at this moment, a young wizard with the same ambition as him appeared. They soon formed a strong friendship and allowed the young wizard to pick up his ideals again. β
Together, they set out in search of some clues that the young wizard had received during his time at Hogwarts...... It was during this time that the young wizard lost his emotions in order to accept a certain test. β
Hearing this, Maca's heart jumped, and a lot of questions almost jumped out of her throat.
But when he saw that Dumbledore was still immersed in his story, he forcibly swallowed the words that came to his lips.
Perhaps, Dumbledore was once one of the candidates; Perhaps, Dumbledore had known his little secrets; Or perhaps, this sudden conversation was born because of this.
Maca decided not to interrupt Dumbledore's story, he would always tell himself if he wanted to.
ββ¦β¦ At this moment, the little wizard's younger brother pointed out that if there was a younger sister as a concern, the little wizard would never be able to become a heroic leader. The young wizard's best friend was very angry at this, and cast a heart slash spell on the young wizard's younger brother. β
At this point, the little wizard's sealed emotions loosened - he protected his brother. But because of this, a messy duel broke out between the three. In the midst of the chaos, the little wizard's sister hopes to help her brothers, but is killed by a spell cast by an unknown person! β
Dumbledore's long white beard trembled slightly, as if it had not let go of it to this day.
The little wizard's emotions were thus restored, and the test that had been helpless was thus passed...... But he gave up all the subsequent tests and his ideals. He didn't know what the meaning of his persistence was - his sister died, his brother hated him forever, and even his best friend fled far away. β
With that, Dumbledore suddenly looked at Maca, his eyes sharp and serious.
"If it were you, what would you do?" He asked.
Maca pursed her lips, her face still calm. He thought, he thought, he really thought about it, but he didn't know it.
After a long time, Maca finally spoke: "The answer to this question needs to be found by yourself." β
Dumbledore's face tense, he looked at Maca, and after a while, he actually smiled.
"You're better than the little wizard in this story." Dumbledore said, "He eventually gave up looking, and you probably won't." β
"It's probably because I'm a Hufflepuff." Maca said.
Dumbledore called Maca this time, as if he was really just telling such a story. In the time that followed, the two wizards, one old and one young, sat opposite each other, drinking lemon juice without saying a word, each thinking about his own business, until the beginning of the dinner party.
Dumbledore may or may not have known all about what Maca had done. But he didn't mean to ask in the slightest.
This time, the whole party lasted all night.
Both Harry and Ron got some extra points, which allowed Gryffindor to finally claim this year's House Cup.
Afterwards, Professor McGonagall stood up and told them that the school had decided to cancel the exam for the sake of hospitality. All the students except Hermione were happy about it.
Dumbledore announced that Professor Lockhart would not be back next semester, and everyone erupted in cheers when they heard the news - after all, no matter what miracles he had, his lessons were terrible.
In addition, it is worth mentioning that several teachers are also applauding this.
In addition to these surprises, this banquet is indeed very lively, but Maca has never been used to this kind of lively scene. Especially lately, he likes to be alone in a place where no one is around.
In the middle of the banquet, he walked outside the hall with a drink.
"Professor Lockhart?" Maca suddenly turned around, "Why did you come out too?" Shouldn't you be the one you enjoy the most of this kind of banquet? You're the hero of Hogwarts this semester. β
When Lockhart heard this, he actually shook his head with a wry smile, and a rare sense of reality appeared on his face.
"There have been many people who have told me such and such great truths, but I have never taken their words to heart." "But this time, when I experienced it for myself, I realized how boring it is to be an inept spectator in the middle of an exciting adventure." β
Maca glanced at him and said calmly, "It seems that I can look forward to your next book." β
Lockhart's eyes widened when he heard this.
"Oh-" he couldn't help but sigh, "I can't believe it, are you really a kid who didn't finish second grade?" How do you know-"
"When a writer feels 'bored' with his story, he will most likely tear up his manuscript and create a new one."
Clearly, Maca had concluded that Lockhart would never have written this incident as another "fake novel".
"I think you're going to be a terrible wizard in the future." Lockhart couldn't help but say.
Maca squeezed out a stiff smile at him.
"In that case, it would be wisest to befriend such a terrible wizard." He said dryly, "I may have something to ask you for in the future, so remember to protect your reputation in the wizarding world." β
"Haha, of course." Lockhart smiled awkwardly.
On this night, the night sky was still so deep, and the stars twinkled uncertainly, as if to tell the people on the ground that everything in the world would be like the rotation of the stars and the moon, and return to calm.
