Chapter 4: Adventure with a small wild deer

Chapter 4: Adventure with a small wild deer

I'll start with the strange things I encountered.

My route is - starting from Lancheng, passing through Wuwei, Zhangye, Jiuquan, Jiayuguan, Yumen, Hami, Turpan, and finally arriving at Korla.

The whole journey is more than 2,000 kilometers and takes three days.

I left Lancheng early in the morning of April 16 and hit the road.

I brought a lot of emergency stuff with me, and there's one thing I want to bring up – the guitar. That's my soulmate.

On the first day, I stayed in Zhangye. The next day, I expected to drive for 11 hours and stay in Hami at night. I was too tired to drive, I slept until three o'clock in the morning in Zhangye, and after breakfast, it was already 11 o'clock in the morning.

All the way to the west, the more you walk, the more sparsely populated, and the endless Gobi Desert appears on both sides of the flat highway.

It's dark, and Hami is still far away. I ate a piece of naan at a small Uighur restaurant on the side of the road, drank a bowl of mutton soup, and continued on my way.

There was not a single person or car on the road, only the sound of the engine of the off-road vehicle and the boundless loneliness.

Hami, Hami, Hami...... So far away.

I became more and more sleepy, my attention was like a rapidly spinning turbine, and the huge centrifugal force forced it to spread out into the darkness around me again and again, and I tried to pull it back again and again......

Suddenly, a living creature ran out of the darkness beside the road, crossed the road, and ran to the darkness on the other side.

It's so close to me!

My mind went blank at that moment, and the sudden braking was just an instinctive action.

With a "bang", the body of the car shook violently and stopped at the same time. I know, I bumped into it.

After being stunned for more than ten seconds, I got out of the car.

It turned out to be a small wild deer!

It was lying on the road in front of the right side of the SUV, convulsing incessantly, its head was facing the car, its right hind leg was bleeding, it must have been broken, but the flesh was connected.

It is so pretty, with two long ears, a short tail, and no horns. The fur is pale yellow, and under the abdomen, behind the legs, and around the mouth and eyes, it is pure white. Those eyes were black and shiny, really like dripping grapes, looking at me sadly.

I immediately ran back to the car, got my first aid kit, and slowly approached it.

It was visibly scared of me, and as I approached it, it kicked its legs a few times, as if trying to get up and run away, but the pain forced it to lie down.

The temperature difference is large and the wind is very cold. I could smell that lovely fishy smell on it.

I bandaged it lightly and it took about 5 minutes. It lay silently, staring in horror at the night sky.

Finally, I stood up and looked around, and the Gobi Desert was dark and rumbling, and there was not a single light in sight.

I picked it up and walked to my car.

Although it looks young, it weighs at least 40 kilograms.

I put it in the back seat and it struggled to get up. I didn't know what to say to it, but repeatedly made a soft voice: "Shh......hh Hush...... Shh......h

It's still not honest. I have to find someone to take care of it as soon as possible.

Looking at the navigator, the nearest gas station is more than 140 kilometers away.

I decided to move back.

This place is 80 kilometers away from the small Uighur restaurant where I eat.

After the car started, it became even more panicked and kept pedaling.

Nearly an hour later, I returned to the small Uighur restaurant.

There was an aunt left in the restaurant, wearing a four-lined small flower hat, and she was watching TV under the incandescent light, which turned out to be "Da Chang Jin" translated into Uyghur.

When she saw me walk in, she said in stiff Chinese, "Hello! ”

I said, "I hit a little wild deer, can I leave it at your house to recuperate?" I'm in a hurry......"

Auntie shook her head with a smile and muttered a few words in Uyghur, I don't know if she didn't understand or didn't want to help.

At this time, a man in his 30s came out of the kitchen, who should be the son of the aunt, he was wearing a black shoulder and a blue jacket. He also did not understand Chinese.

I gestured to the car outside, then led them out and looked at the injured little deer.

They finally understood what I meant. The man gently picked up the little wild deer, walked to the sheepfold next to it, and laid it on the hay. Then, he said something to me in Uyghur, and from his demeanor, I knew that he was telling me not to worry, that they would take care of it.

I said, "Thank you, sorry for the trouble!" ”

The two of them began to tending to the little wild deer like a baby, and I left.

Look at the time, it's almost 11 o'clock. I couldn't get to Hami anymore, so I had to find a small hotel to stay in along the way.

I injured a small wild deer, entrusted it to a Uighur family, and continued on my way...... During the journey, we will encounter all kinds of unexpected events, which is normal. However, two days later I heard another thing, and right away, everything went wrong -

My other travel companion was Wei Zao, who used to be a car mechanic, he was driving an off-road vehicle, and on the same day, he was walking on the same road as me, and he was also Benhami. As we chatted, we realized that he and I were only half an hour's drive away. When I dragged the injured little wild deer back to the small restaurant, I should have passed by him, but I was not impressed.

The weirdest thing is: he happened to the same thing in the area where I bumped into the little wild deer-

He hurried along his way, when suddenly, the headlights shone on a living creature, which ran out of the darkness beside the road, across the road, and ran into the darkness on the other side.

He braked quickly, it was too late, and he hit the living thing.

He got out of the car and looked, and it turned out to be a small wild deer, gurgling and bleeding.

Like me, he bandaged the little wild deer and put it in the car, but instead of heading back, he slowly drove forward, and finally found a sparsely populated town called Utuo Township, where there was a veterinary station.

At that time, people were asleep.

With great difficulty, he found the veterinarian's home, pulled him out of bed, and handed the little wild deer into his hands. In the middle of the night, he had to stay in a small private hotel in the township......

As a result, he was also delayed for a day.

I'm a mystery novelist, and in layman's terms, a storyteller, so I'm extremely distrustful of other people's mouths.

However, what makes me speechless is that the deer collision incident was said by Wei earlier, which is very important - it is not me, it was Wei who said it earlier!

After everyone met, they all talked about the reason for being a day late, and Wei had already talked about the little wild deer with a smile on his face.

Immediately after he finished, I asked him, "Where did you hit that little wild deer?" ”

He said, "It's more than 300 miles away from Hami." (The more than 300 miles he spoke was colloquial, which should be more than 300 kilometers.) )

That's how much I hit that little wild deer in that area!

Me: "What does it look like?" ”

"Pale yellow, it doesn't look big," he said. ”

Me: "Are the eyes and around the mouth, and under the belly, pure white?" ”

He said, "Yes, yes, yes!" ”

Me: "Does it have horns?" ”

He thought for a moment and said, "No." ”

Me: "Where did it hurt?" ”

Him: "Legs." ”

Me: "Which leg?" ”

He thought about it again and said, "Right hind leg." ”

I was more and more amazed: the little wild deer he hit looked exactly the same as the little wild deer I hit me!

I can only think of this: in the Gobi desert region of Xinjiang, there is only one species of red deer, and of course they look very similar. But why were they all injured in the right hind leg?

They rushed from the left side of the road to the right, wounding their right leg, and rightly so. They're fast, we all brake hard, they dodge the front half of the car and their back legs hurt, and rightly so......

Are they all right?

On the Gobi Desert, wild deer are extremely rare, why is it so coincidental that we have all encountered them? And, all bumped?

I didn't say I bumped into the little wild deer too, and I didn't want to leave a shadow in everyone's hearts.

I only said that my car broke down and stopped in Zhangye for one more day and repaired it.

The shadow remained only in my heart.

I doubt it......

I doubt it......

I suspect - Wei Zao and I bumped into the same thing. Yes, "stuff".
