Chapter 103: Herbal Medicine Lesson

At lunchtime, Alan found the people in the auditorium talking about Professor Gilderoy Lockhart's bad luck, and many people had witnessed him being chased by several Cornish elves and escaping into his office.

The aimless elves wreak havoc in the hallways of Hogwarts, and Peeves are so excited that they spun up and down, spin and dance, and help the elves rip off the guards' armor, throw away many portraits, and break a few chandeliers. Filch picked up the broom and chased after them, but they snatched it, grabbed Filch by the ear, picked him up, and threw him outside on the lawn.

The little wizards who originally wanted to help solve it, saw that Filch, whom they hated, was teased and gloated, and no one made a move. Thankfully, Professor McGonagall passed by and caught the messing elves and returned them to Professor Lockhart.

This lunch is delicious! Alan gulps down apple pie and takes a sip of mushroom soup every now and then. Sensitive ears catch gossip everywhere. Hearing about Gildero's unfortunate experience, Alan felt calm and refreshed.

"He just wanted to give us some chance to practice. Hermione's voice came, and Alan frowned unconsciously.

"Practice?" Harry's voice was skeptical, "Hermione, you think of him too well! But I can understand you when I see your Defence Against the Dark Arts heart-shaped timetable!, but I think he doesn't know how to subdue those elves!"

"Nonsense," said Hermione, "you've all read his books - think of the amazing things he did......"

"It's just that he himself says he's done it. Ron muttered.

Hearing this, Alan felt that if Daisy knew about today's events, he would probably have reacted even better than Hermione. In Allen's eyes, Daisy's infatuation with Gildelow is much stronger than Hermione's. If Gildelow still dares to have anything to do with Daisy, he must expose the true face of this liar!

The afternoon herbal class was with Slytherin. What is unusual is that Professor Sprout actually led them to the third greenhouse. They've only been in the first greenhouse – the plants in the third greenhouse are more interesting and dangerous.

Professor Sprout removed a large key from his belt and opened the door. A smell of damp earth and fertilizer comes to your face, mixed with a rich floral scent. The flowers were the size of an umbrella and hung from the ceiling. Some turquoise serpentine plants clinged to the shelves on the walls on either side, and Decora Malfoy watched with interest, and then couldn't help but reach out and touch them.

"Stop, Darkala! it's the Serpent Vine, touch it and it will stab your skin and wrap around you until the last drop of your blood is drained!" a spell flashed, opening Malfoy's hand that was about to touch the Serpent Vine.

Professor Sprout glared at Malfoy, a rare occurrence for the Professor's gentle demeanor and pleasant demeanor that always made the young wizards feel like a spring breeze.

"It seems that the professor is not in a beautiful mood today!" The little wizards, who were still looking around and watching curiously, began to be cautious in their words and actions.

Professor Sprout stood behind a stool in the middle of the greenhouse. On the stool are about 20 pairs of earmuffs of different colors.

Alan sat with Edward, next to a terrified Malfoy.

"We're going to repot the mandrake today. Now, who can tell me what the mandrakes are?" Professor Sprout asked, and the little wizards brushed their eyes on Alan. Alan did raise his hand as they wished.

"Is only Alan Harris aware?" Professor Sprout doesn't seem to mean to ask Allen. Several young wizards raised their hands when they heard this.

"Mandrake, also known as mandrake root, is a powerful restorative. A Ravenclaw girl replied.

"It can be used to restore a person who has been transformed or who has been enchanted to their original state. A Slytherin boy replied.

"It's dangerous, and hearing the cries of a mandrake kills people. Not to be outdone, another Slytherin boy added.

"Ravenclaw plus five points, Slytheringa ten. It seems that you have all carefully reviewed the textbooks, which is very good!" Professor Sprout smiled happily.

The little wizards of Ravenclaw couldn't help but look at Allen, how could they let Slytherin surpass them? For these eaglets, they had already tasted the intoxicating taste of victory, and they didn't want to let go again!

"Professor, can I add?" Allen received the signal from his classmates and immediately raised his hand to ask.

"Oh, of course!" Professor Sprout nodded.

"The mandrake is a plant native to southern Europe with yellow-green flowers and branched roots. This plant was once believed to have magical powers because its roots resembled the human body. ”

Hearing this, the young wizards looked down at the mandrakes, but they didn't find the shape of a human being, and the corners of Malfoy's mouth showed a sarcastic smile.

"Alan is talking about its roots!" said Edward, who caught a glimpse of Malfoy's expression.

Unfazed, Alan continued: "The mandrake's humanoid roots suggest its medicinal properties, and in fact it does contain a lot of poisonous hallucinogenic ingredients, which makes it the main ingredient in the crafting of potions by wizards. Traditional symbolic doctrines hold that the external characteristics of the plant suggest its medicinal properties and applications. Mandrakes are considered a panacea because of their miraculous "perfect" qualities. In fact, this nightshade plant contains a lot of toxic hallucinogens. As a result, it became an important ingredient in the making of ointment by shamans and gradually became a symbol of many kinds of witchcraft. ”

"That's a good point, I couldn't have said it more completely than Alan Harris!

Next, they put on earmuffs on Professor Sprout's orders to repot the mandrake.

The mandrake was reluctant to be pulled out of the soil, but it seemed reluctant to go back. They wriggled, kicked their feet, waved their little pointed fists, and gritted their teeth.

The young wizards had to put in all their energy and exert a lot of effort to successfully repot the mandrake.

By the end of the lesson, the little wizards were sweating profusely, their backs aching, and their bodies were covered in mud. Except for Allen, his precise eyesight, steady control, and just the right amount of strength make every pot change seem effortless, and even contain rhythm!

He successfully repotted most of the mandrakes. For this, Professor Sprout rewarded Ravenclaw with another ten. This made the young wizards of Ravenclaw tired but cheered.
