Chapter Seventy-Nine: The Western Regions
The twilight was on the distant horizon, and the curtain was gradually falling.
Along the way, the white horse is clear, and the opportunities for drinking water or eating grass are not overflowing. So, Sun Wukong tied a large bundle of grass to the back of the white horse, and Bodhidharma couldn't bear the fact that the white horse had too much weight, so he often walked side by side with Sun Wukong and the white horse.
Unconsciously, the half-moon crescent moon wanders in the night sky.
"Goo, goo..."
Sun Wukong heard Bodhidharma's hungry stomach growling, and snickered: "Master, Mr. Du Ziming is calling you." ”
After Bodhidharma heard Sun Wukong's banter, he turned his face to him and said angrily: "You monkey head, don't give some food to the teacher, and come to laugh at me, you can't teach the erector." ”
Sun Wukong felt that the master complained to him slightly, so he instantly changed his tone, and said aggrievedly: "Hey, my good master of Bodhisattva Shen Hui, it's not that I don't want to help you turn your fate into hunger, it's just that this radius of ten miles, there is no shop in front of the village and no store, call me this skinny little wild waiter, where to find it, you say yes!" ”
Bodhidharma ignored him, as if Wukong was unreasonable and irrefutable. Or maybe he doesn't care that he is hungry for one or several meals, there is no Buddha in his heart, and no matter how full he eats, it is also vain.
Clothed in this endless lonely silver light, a teacher, an apprentice and a white horse, shadows followed, continued to wander eastward, and it did not take long for the traces of the road to begin to show on the land that the shabby shoes had set foot in, and the bushes also became green.
Sun Wukong suddenly curled his hand with brown hair, pointed ahead, looked at the place where his eyes were extremely eyed, and said excitedly: "Master, look, there is a city, we have something to eat." ”
Bodhidharma followed the direction Wukong pointed to, and when he took a look, a hint of relief flashed on his face. After many days of traveling, no matter who it is, it can really make people tired, let alone the mortal Dharma who always stands on his chest with one hand and the purple gold staff in the other. Even if he is hungry for three or five days, or even eight or nine days, so what, his expression will not change, and his footsteps will not stop, even in Wukong's eyes, the comfort that flashes on the master's face is just a simple outpouring of faith, or crowning.
In Wukong's objective point of view, the greatest kindness to himself of this pedantic and somewhat clumsy master is that when he is tired of holding a Zen stick in his left hand, he will change to his right hand, and when his right hand is tired, he will change to his left hand, and that's it. Once on the barren and barren road, Bodhidharma was fortunate enough to pick up a fruit left by a bird, he did not fill his pockets, let alone reward his thin and curly-haired apprentice to eat, but held it with both hands and sent it to the mouth of the white horse with a long mane, for this reason, Sun Wukong also hated his master for several days, during which he kept enduring, and did not spit out half a word when he closed his mouth.
Sun Wukong said again: "Master, not long ago, you complained that I didn't find you some food to eat, but now the food can be caught immediately, why don't you see ripples of joy, but frown." ”
Bodhidharma sighed lightly, slowly spoke, and said: "Amitabha, why worry about eating a few less meals for the teacher, just raise your eyes to look at this vast world, and how many people are in distress and injustice at the moment, who died of hunger because of poverty, who were wronged by sin, and fell into the abyss because of deep desire. Although this Tang Dynasty has been stepped on, this Chang'an is also close at hand, I don't know that the person in power who is hidden in the forbidden palace can understand the geometry and the people? ! ”
Sun Wukong witnessed the master with chapped lips and yellowed robes, and the inexplicable sadness in his eyes that was blurred before was suddenly replaced by some kind of firm upheldness. Sun Wukong is becoming more and more unable to see through his master, whether he is just an ordinary man who is empty and wronged, or a monk who thinks about Li Min. Maybe only when he arrives in Chang'an City will he find the answer he wants, or maybe this answer has been clear for a long time.
The master apprentice and the white horse, at the last moment of the Kangding City Gate, walked into the city and officially set foot on the border of the Tang Dynasty. There are very few pedestrians on the street, and every household is full of people.
The master and apprentice and the three horses, walking, watching, this long-awaited customs of the Tang Dynasty. Or in Wukong's view, a horse is a horse, a beast that does not enter the stream. However, in Bodhidharma's view, all living beings in heaven and earth are equal, flowers, grasses, fish and insects, ghosts and spirits are all human, and people are also birds and animals, a part of a flower and a grass.
At the corner of Qingshi Street, when the shopkeeper of an inn was about to seal the last piece of wenge wood door panel, Sun Wukong's eyes were quick, and he used his broken shoes with curly toes against the door panel. He hadn't drunk water for many days, his voice became vicissitudes and sharp, and he said urgently: "Shopkeeper, it's good to open a door, we are all the way from the Western Regions, and the monks who went to Chang'an Face Sage, have not eaten for many days, and even a drop of water has not entered, and I hope to give some fasting food, and find a place to leave us to rest, tomorrow morning before the day is white, we will leave." ”
The slightly bloated shopkeeper, seeing the appearance of being covered in hair, was stunned for a moment at first, and then his face showed that perhaps it was the most sincere smile since a busy day, and he spoke not very proficient Chinese, and said with a smile: "It's the hot summer of July, why are you still wearing a heavy sweater, aren't you afraid of covering up the hot prickly heat?" ”
Seeing this, Sun Wukong also laughed, his thin cheeks showed his white teeth, and said: "Little brother, don't you know, I got a severe wind chill on the road, so I dressed so thickly, and after dawn tomorrow, I will go to the pharmacy to grab medicine and eat." ”
The shopkeeper said: "Oh, I see, it's just that we don't have any spare rooms here, only the firewood room has a hard bed, barely able to cope with the night, I don't know if the two monks mind?" ”
Sun Wukong still kept a smile on his face and said, "Don't mind, don't mind, thank you more." ”
The shopkeeper said: "Then you first tie the horse to the stable in the backyard, the adjacent side of the stable is the firewood house, you go first to clean up, and I will bring you food." ”
Sun Wukong replied: "Thank you, thank you, there is Brother Lao." ”
After that, Sun Wukong tied up the white horse and cleaned up the firewood room.
Wukong suddenly said: "Master, this is all your karmic blessing, tonight we found a place to live so smoothly, and we no longer have to sleep in the wild bitten by gnats." ”
Bodhidharma said: "You monkey head, when did you learn to pat on the back, but your ability to communicate with people has indeed improved a lot." ”
Sun Wukong heard the rare praise of the master, stopped holding the hand of the lice on his body, and once again showed his white teeth, and even the sharp fangs were also seen, in this happy atmosphere, Sun Wukong couldn't help but turn two somersaults.
