Chapter 11: Escape

Albert and Salzi turned their heads to the door.

There was no movement.

So they turned their heads back together and looked at Dineen.

Dinen pressed the corners of his forehead, defeated by their stupid cuteness - no, no, no, these two have nothing to do with cute, so they are just stupid.

He raised his voice and said to the door, "I've heard your footsteps since I spoke of the Hammer of Doom, girl. There's no one else in the room, just open the door and come in. ”

Another few seconds of silence. Then the door was gently pushed open a small gap, and the slender figure showed a face by the door, looking at them nervously.

"Telisa!"

Sal exclaimed with joy, he subconsciously wanted to get off the bed, but the cold unexpectedly involved the wound on his chest, and immediately gasped. Seeing this, the girl with bright blonde hair hurriedly trotted over from the door to support him, and asked worriedly, "Are you okay?" ”

"It's just, a little, it hurts......" Sal couldn't even speak, and insisted as if he was fine.

"You lie down first!" Teresa helped him lie down and looked at him worriedly, "Don't be pushy, Sal, how are you going to leave like this?" ”

"Did you hear that?" Thrall looked up at her.

"Yes......" Teresa whispered.

"Then you'll understand why I'm leaving," Thrall gripped her slender wrist with more eagerness than ever before, "Teresa, you see what Blackmore did to me today." I don't want to be a slave anymore, a gladiator, fighting to please others. I want to live like a real orc, to live a glorious and free life like my ancestors! ”

"I understand." Teresa patted his hand soothingly, "I understand, Sal. I hope you get out of here. But your injuries are so bad, you won't be able to run far before they'll get caught. And ......"

She looked at Dineen and Albert suspiciously, unable to believe that the two men who had just fought Sal could be honest with him.

"Seriously, girl." Dinen said lazily, "If I want to kill him, I don't need to be so troublesome, just take it easy when I leave." ”

Albert, who didn't have time to interject, really wanted to cry at this time, for the emotional intelligence of his partner.

He sighed, stood up, walked over to Telisa, and held out a hand, the light in his palm brighter and softer in the dimly lit room than the oil lamp beside him.

"In the name of the Light, I swear to you, Teresa," he said earnestly, "that my companions and I will deliver Thrall safely to his people. ”

When she saw the light in Albert's hand, Teresa covered her mouth in surprise. She nodded in disbelief, then abruptly raised her head to stare at him, "You're a paladin?!" ”

"I am." Albert said softly, "So trust me, we won't hurt Sal." ”

"I, I believe in you!" Teresa replied immediately, her face full of trepidation and joy. The Paladin, who regards faith as his life, swears to the Light, and no matter what the reason for this oath, he will never break it, "I'm sorry, I really ......"

"It's okay." Albert didn't mind that. Although paladins were revered among the populace, they never saw themselves as high aristocrats. The Light asks them to treat everyone with humility and equality.

Dinen covered her eyes behind her back, feeling like she was going to be blinded by the light. So that's one of the reasons he hates these walking humanoid self-luminous light bulbs, they're just too shiny. No, he's definitely not referring to kindness, absolutely not.

"Alright," he interjected, "in that case, can we draw conclusions?" ”

Thrall and Teresa looked at each other and nodded.

"I'll go with you." He said firmly.

"But what about your injuries?" Teresa reminded them.

Dineen shrugged his shoulders and looked at his partner, "Albert? ”

β€œβ€¦ Good. The young paladin paused for a second before replying, he didn't know if the light worked on the orcs. Will the Light bless this race from other worlds? Even after hearing Dineen's account of what a real orc looks like, Albert would have had a hard time changing his long-held perception - but he would try, and he should.

"As for the rest, food, maps, and weapons, leave it to me to prepare." Dinen looked at Teressa, "Can you please tell me where the kitchen is?" ”

"It's ...... No, I'll go with you. Teresa hesitated for a moment, then said with determination.

"Telisa?!" Thrall immediately looked at her. He didn't want to implicate this human girl he regarded as his sister, who accompanied him, encouraged him, and educated him. In fact, he would have preferred to take her with him. But he knew Teresa wouldn't say yes. There was no way she could give up on her family.

"Don't worry, Sal," Teresa said to him, "I'm going to get something too." I think you're going to need it. ”

"Wait, Dineen, how are your injuries?" Albert asked, frowning. Just a few hours ago, Dineen almost couldn't wake up, and now he actually wants to go alone?

Dinen stood up and moved her body. There was a dull pain in my chest when I breathed, and I didn't know what the bones were healing. His shoulders stiffened, his arms trembled slightly, and he felt a noticeable weakness when he tried to clench his fists. When he took the hammer, the block that didn't seem to have any effect was actually skillfully removed most of the force, and the result was that the bones all over the body were somewhat damaged, especially the limbs. I'm afraid he'll have a little difficulty using brute force in the next few days - but it's better than having his guts smashed with a hammer.

"It's okay." He said to Albert nonchalantly. The latter looked unbelieving, but he was helpless, so he had to sigh and tell him to be careful in everything.

***

It didn't take much effort to get the things they needed. Almost everyone in the castle was busy, and they didn't want to cause some trouble when their master was angry. Teresa easily fooled the past. As for Dineh, there was no need to worry, he followed silently, there were countless dark corners for him to hide. There were many times when Teresa couldn't find him, let alone the servants who were buried in their work. Only the two dogs in the kitchen smelled the stranger along the way, but Dineen stopped them with just a cold glance.

He didn't take much. Some small food, two flintstones, a dagger stuck in the table, and two long swords hanging on the wall, richly decorated but not very handy, but better than the rubbish they used for the game. Dinen had found a two-handed axe, but his injured arm couldn't lift it and had to give up. Other rooms where weapons might have been kept are securely locked. After looking for a few rooms, Dineen gave up decisively and returned to the medical room to meet the others.

Teresa brought a map, some gold coins, a stack of letters, and a piece of cloth. The most important thing is that piece of fabric. When she gave it to Sal, she told him that it was part of the swaddling clothes that had wrapped him. Dineen snorted when he noticed the blue shield and white wolf's head on the rough cloth.

"Frostwolf." He commented.

Under Albert's treatment, Sal was able to get up and move. Hearing the word, he clutched the piece of fabric in disbelief and joy, and hugged Teresa tightly, grateful for what she had done for him.

Dinen rolled his eyes, he still couldn't get used to this kind of thing. He poked Albert and gave him a sausage.

"What?" Albert asked in surprise.

"Hurry up and eat it." Dineen said casually, "How can you be more tired with a healing technique than after ten boxing fights with an ogre?" ”

"Hmm...... Thanks, but ......" Albert looked embarrassed.

Dineh glanced coldly: "What's the matter?" "If you still pick and choose at such a time, when they go out, there will be this kid who looks good!

"This," Albert asked sincerely, raising his hand, "seems to have to be steamed before eating?" ”

Dineh: Huh?

Looking at his partner, who instantly turned blank, Albert silently turned his face away. He was afraid that if he couldn't hold back his laughter, he would be beaten.

Realizing that he seemed to have made a mistake in choosing food, Dineen was silent for a moment, then angrily redeemed the sausage with an apple.

On the other side, Sal had already finished saying goodbye to Telisa, and the girl left in a hurry, she had to appear in front of the others before it happened, so that she could have an alibi.

After a brief discussion, the three of them decided to create some chaos before leaving, such as setting a fire or something. Although Dineen says he'd love to throw a fire in Blackmore's bedroom, if it would kill him, the end result is the stableβ€”and let the animals go before they light the fire!

Dineen wanted to give the back of each of their heads. Isn't this obvious that it was intentional arson!

But he couldn't carry these two people. So they quietly groped downstairs, jumped outside from the window on the first floor, bypassed the barracks and the training ground, and found the stables.

Judging by the position of the moon, it is now almost midnight. There were no guarded soldiers around the stables, which allowed them to carry out their plans without having to kill. Sal went to fetch some hay and put it around, while Dineen and Albert went to let the horses go. Although the stranger's breath made the horses a little restless, Albert was surprisingly adept at dealing with the animal. With his reassurance, they succeeded in pulling out all the horses.

"Okay?" Thrall asked quietly.

Albert gestured to him OK, and Dineen felt for the flint. He picked up a few straws and made them into a fuse, then lit it.

"Let's go!" He growled.

The three of them immediately ran without looking back. They try to hide themselves in the dark, away from moonlight and possible sights. At first they had to stop and wait for the patrolling soldiers to pass, but by the time the shrill bells rang throughout Dunhold Castle, the fire behind them had lit up the sky. Then the surroundings became chaotic. People who were awakened jumped out of bed and picked up buckets to put out the fire. The neighing of horses, the screams of children, the shouts and curses of people, all in a mess.

There were more and more people around, and some people even drove horse-drawn carts to carry water. They struggled against the direction of the flow of people, keeping their heads down and hiding themselves. Every shout is like an exclamation when someone notices it, and you get restless when you lose the position of your companion in your field of vision. Even Dinein's nervous palms were sweating, and he did his best to keep his face expressionless, passing by a whole group of soldiers.

The walk from the courtyard to the gate wasn't too far, but it seemed long to the fugitives like walking all the way from Winterspring Valley to Oldum. Fortunately, they finally saw the gate, which was completely open to allow the carriage carrying water to pass through. Dinen walked through the gate quickly, trying not to be too fast. He was slightly relieved to see Albert and Sal following him, and led them to the right.

- To the northwest, that's in the direction of the Talenmere and Ortalangque Mountains.

They quickly retreated into the darkness, unnoticed. So Dinein let go of his speed, and they ran quickly across the meadows, through the not-so-dense and unsheltered forest, towards the top of the hill.

The hill wasn't too high, at least before the weary wounded were exhausted. They stopped panting and sat down on the ground to breathe. This position is just in time to see Dunhold, which is on fire. The three of them all looked at the red-hot sky in that direction, and no one spoke for a while.

"Looks like we're in big trouble for Blackmore, aren't we?" Albert was the first to break the silence.

"He'll be in a hurry for a while." Sal said quietly.

"He brought it on himself." Dineen concluded.

There was silence for a while, and then suddenly the three of them laughed together. They looked at each other and laughed, as happy as ever before as children who had succeeded in mischievous.
